Chapter 13 - Chapter 11: The Calm Before The Storm

It only took Diana less than twenty minutes to get to her apartment, she was desperately trying to hurry up on the road just so not to piss Jacob off. Even when things weren't going their way, Diana was still trying to be a good wife to Jacob, trying to please him even after everything. There were times she had hopes for her marriage, hope for Jacob and that it will all work out in the end yet every single time she was disappointed by him.

Marcus lied about going home and he followed Diana's car, even though Martin never approved of it there was nothing he could do. "Martin, take left" Marcus gave instructions. "Now turn right"

"Sir I can see where Diana's car is going, I got this"

"Just so you know... you lost her. I want to see what's going to happen. Is she going to take him back, or" said Marcus pinching his fist and seemed as if he was about to panick. "Cause that guy is an asshole you know, he's a piece of shit!" Marcus punched a seat in front of him and then he losened his shirt, then as if he was feeling hot or something he took out his shirt.

Martin could see everything that was going on the back seat, Marcus was about to have one of his episodes and he didn't want that - not at that moment so he pulled over the car.

"What the fuck are you doing Martin? Keep driving..."

"Sir, wait up. You need to take some pills first, then we'll keep following her"

"Are you insane, we just lost her"

Martin took out a small packet of heroine, Marcus snatched it out of him without notice. Then he sniffed it all out in seconds, after that he ordered Martin "Go!" and then fell back on the seat and took a deep breath. Martin started the car again and kept on following Diana, all over the road.

Diana packed her car in the parking lot and then she raced a bit to the elevator, trying to hurry and even when the elevator was going up she felt as if it wasn't going up fast enough. She would be pleased if it would speed up a bit. When she reached her floor and the elevator stopped, she went out and came face to face with Jacob who was outside their appartment waiting.

"Hey" said Jacob softly. He didn't seem angry nor pissed off.

"Hey" Diana went along with this new Jacob, perhaps the excursion he took cleared his mind and he came back feeling rejuvenated and new.

"You were at the garden?"

"Yeah, how did you know?"

Jacob chuckled softly "Its Wrestlemani... one thing I know about you is that you will miss church services, doctors appointments and even your own birthday, but you will never miss a pay per view" he joked and chuckled again.

"Well, a girl gotta have a thing to hold on to"

"Right..."

Diana smiled, took the keys to the apartment and opened it. Somehow everything seemed to be back to normal, Marcus was outside still in the car looking on. He knew exactly where Diana's apartment was, but he needed that clear view of what was really going on. It was midnight and hence no one would have expected him to be anything but just a man returning back to his apartment.

"Martin, stay here. I'm gonna go to the next building, trying to get a better view" said Marcus and losened his seat belt.

"A better view?"

"Yes Martin. You wanna come, cause I won't stop you"

"Yes sir, I want to come"

"Then let's go"

Marcus got out of the car, then Martin followed him behind. They walked to the next building opposite to the one Diana lived and they took the elevator. Marcus wanted a better view and hence he needed to be inside a room which would be directed exactly into Diana's window, it was the best way to sneak inside what was going on without being noticed.

Martin knocked on the door once, silence. There was no one answering nor was there any motion inside to indicate that someone was sleepimg.

"Sir, I think we should leave. These buildings have serious security protection, plus the cameras..." Martin didn't however turn to look at the security cameras because that would make him look suspicious.

"That's why you are standing there Martin, to obscure me from the cameras. I have an idea, let's break in"

"Sir... what?"

Martin was too late when Martin used a fake key to get inside the apartment and it worked. They closed the door, it was all alone and the apartment was empty. "Weird! It's empty. Perhaps I should rent it tomorrow, just so to have a proper view" said Marcus and then he switched off the lights and opened the curtains.

From where Marcus stood he had a clear view of what exactly was going on inside Diana and Jacob's apartment. They hadn't pulled down the curtains but who does so in New York, it's like a trend, especially when you are staying in the twentieth floor and you have all the privacy and space you need. Marcus poured himself a bourborn then sat still on a couch looking at Diana getting nervous on Jacob, the good part was the window of the next building where Marcus and Martin were, was facing their bedroom and everything was clear as if they were watching a High definition movie in cinema. However they only lacked audio due to the glasses barrier.

Jacob was sitting on the bed with only his boxers looking at his computer, Diana was in the shower trying to freshen up after a really long day.

"Where's she?" asked Marcus after sometime passed, probably five minutes without seeing Diana in the bedroom while Jacob was sitting comfortably on the bed.

"I don't know sir"

"What do you think about this guy Martin?"

"Sir?"

"Mr Miller, what is your take on him?"

"Um... I don't know him sir"

"Come on Martin, you don't need to know someone to speak about his appearances. Aren't you supposed to be a spy and a veteran?" asked Marcus looking back at Martin. "Come on, give me something"

Martin sighed and then he paid close attention to Jacob, he analyzed him, studied him through the glass window and trying to come up with something. Suddenly Diana came outside of the bathroom in a soft linen transparent dress, her hair was wet. "Damn! You are even washing up for him. For this bastard who doesn't deserve you while you should be washing up for me" Marcus thought.

"He looks like trouble sir" Martin interrupted Marcus's thoughts and brought him to the presence.

"How trouble? Like he could disappear sort of trouble?"

"He can cause a scene, disappear out of nowhere and no one will be alarmed. By the look of his physique, he can pass as a man who loves himself too much to care about others, or funny enough to say he looks like he love weights more than he loves people..." finished Martin and Marcus had a huge smile on his face.

Diana finished preparing herself for bed and when she was done, she went to Jacob and these two talked for a while. Jacob held Diana's left cheek on his arms, while kissing the other.

"I'm sorry for storming out of Maisele Jaan like that, I shouldn't have. Your friends must be so pissed at me, I needed time for myself, to think through about everything, you know. I went to see my mother and we talked, Diana... I am so proud of you. Even when my actions aren't really showing you that I am proud believe me I am proud. Marrying you was the best decision I have ever made, I want us to really try this time. I shall quit serving at McDonald's and join you in the office, for that position you once told me about and I will worship at your feet Diana, I will gladly serve you and our future together. Right now, starting from today I shall admit that my wife is a powerful woman and I won't let myself feel bad for having a hardworking woman, better yet I will rejoice and help her achieve her dreams for they are also my dreams. And dreams of our future children... I love you Mrs Miller" Jacob poured his heart out to Diana and Diana wept of joy then she hugged him tight.

Marcus was confused "What did he tell her? Why is she hugging him?" He panicked and suddenly hoped to his feet "This man is a scumbarg and a fucking liar. Don't you see it Martin? He's taking an advantage of her"

"Sir, please calm down. I'm sure Diana is a matured woman who knows when a man is being honest and when he's taking advantage of her. You told me she was smart and I believe she is..."

Marcus grew speechless but still upbeat and high tempered. He turned back to look and this time Jacob was on top of Diana showering her with kisses and she gladly obliged and took him in her arms, Marcus had that hurt look on his eyes then he barged outside and walked back to the car, Martin followed.
