Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Transmigration

"The delegates from Tora Tech have arrived at the company Ms. Jacobs."

Romelle nodded as she walked out of the door and towards the meeting room. This was the company that had skyrocketed in the book in the coming years.

Yes, Romelle had transmigrated into a book. A romance book to be exact. It was the typical cliche sort of novel where the heroine, a rising star, fell in love with the CEO of her company. It was not something Romelle would have had the time to read or think about on normal occasions, but unfortunately, this was the work of a friend of hers, Cassy, who was mad at her for calling such novels a waste of time.

Cassy was not the everyday best friend and was a fierce little beast who held grudges for the rest of her life and made a villain in her next novel with the same name as Romelle's, Romelle Jacobs.

Romelle Jacobs in the novel was the sole heir of the media network called The Golden Times. It was her family's company and she was the only child of her parents Henry and Bethany Jacobs. As the only child, she was doted on severely. She had grown up getting whatever she wanted and when she saw the male lead, she became obsessed. In the book, she always acted nice but was very scheming, she had grown up in the business world and was heavily influenced and had an upper-class mindset.

But Romelle Jacobs that had transmigrated is not the same. She was an orphan and had worked all her life. She was in fact the CEO of the publishing company that her friend was working with. Cassy was the first author to join the company. Being a female CEO was hard, and she had wanted to expand out and make new companies. She was really interested in the IT sector and wanted to make a tech company, but was never able to because she didn't have many connections and it was always very difficult for a woman in the industry. Nobody believed in her and nobody wanted to work with her.

But here, it was different, not only are her parents respected individuals in the industry, but she was also the sole heir of The Golden Times. She had both the power and the backing that she never had in her previous life.

Romelle had transmigrated into the novel when she was 16 and she knew she wouldn't meet the hero or the heroine until she was around 25. Getting used to her parents wasn't very difficult, she had the memories of the previous owner and she even wondered for a while if this was her previous life. She looked quite similar to the villainess except for her hair which was like lustrous wine.

She was known as a beauty in her previous life and had often heard people call her a vixen, those damned b*st*rds had nothing better to talk about anyway. But she had to admit, the hair color suited her very well, though it did make her look a little mean, maybe more than just a little.

After the initial confusion, and getting along with her parents for a couple of days. She investigated the economic situation at the moment and realized the potential of the market at that time, the market to IT was only starting to show signs of growth and only had a basic web browser and no other company was investing in the industry. She knew she needed to make her mark. She had no interest in the media industry and found it a bore. The first thing she did was talk to her cousin Evan.

Evan was one of the few people who were loyal to Romelle in the novel. He was the one that had introduced Romelle to the male lead and except for her parents, the only one who supported her even when everyone turned their backs on her.

Evan had a friend named Claire who was a great programmer. They both decided to work on making a web browser themselves that was more efficient and get the patents for it. It was very similar to G**gle in Romelle's previous life. Romelle became the President and Claire the chief product manager of the company which was named Akira Tech and the browser 'Gateway'. They were around 17 at the time and were about to go to university. Romelle and Claire had become great friends and decided to go to the same university. Around one year after the launch of Gateway, traffic on the browser had reached around a couple million which made Romelle want to put an online video sharing platform. They both decided to launch the new platform and called it VidShare. It became the first time that she held a public press conference to announce the unveiling of the new platform. And it was a huge success. Romelle had even gotten several high personalities to make channels in VidShare are and make videos and created the first wave of online influencers.

Many companies had started to see the potential of the IT sector at that time and many people had tried to acquire the company as they thought an inexperienced 19 year old would not be able to deal with the pressure. What they didn't know was that Romelle had faced much worse in her previous life all by herself, and instead of buckling under the pressure, Akira tech launched an online shopping platform called Ibuy.

It was the biggest project that Akira tech had ever started which led her to get as many loans as she could from the bank. She recruited many workers and at the time, many companies ridiculed her. But Romelle never let it bother her. She was a little afraid that it would not work out as even if it had worked in her previous life there was no saying if it would work in the novel world. She knew that advertising the platform was very important and invested heavily on it till the point she was in heavy debt.

But the investments were made well and by the time she was out of university, she had already turned over billions of dollars in assets and became the first women billionaire and the youngest billionaire in history at the age of 22.

Not only were her parents shocked, but the entire world was shocked.

But Romelle was not satisfied, all of the companies she started might not last as soon as new and more similar companies started and they were heavily dependent on the common everyday people. And none of them were research-based. She wanted to make a company that would last a long time, and make a mark, like a company that focused on research. So after much deliberation, her thoughts went towards making environmentally friendly technology which seemed like the next step.

And acquiring Tora Tech would be the first big step. Which leads us back to the present. Romelle remembered reading in the novel that Tora Tech had created a car that could run on electricity. It would be this world's first electric car. Tora Tech had encountered difficulties in finding investors and had nearly gone bankrupt.

Romelle keenly remembered that it should be around this time and had made an appointment with them.

Romelle adjusted her creamy beige blazer as her heel clicked towards the meeting room. Ryan, her assistant followed closely behind her before stepping forward to open the door as they reached the room.

"Welcome Ms. Jacobs," Claire greeted her with an excited smile.

"Hello Claire," Romelle greeted back with a smile as she sat in her seat.

Ryan rolled his eyes and placed the files on the table before cleaning his glasses, "That's the first time I've heard Ms. Claire call Ms. Jacobs respectfully in a while. What's the special occasion?"

"The special occasion is of course the acquisition of Tora Tech!" Claire exclaimed pouting," This is big! The biggest thing we've embarked on in nearly 3 years. The last project, Ibuy, we've been dealing with that for ages. I was going crazy with dealing with it for so long!"

Ryan sighed," Well, that was a really big project, our staff increased nearly ten times the original amount. And we also needed to increase the usability at a more international level after the initial setup as buying things is a physical process and we needed to buy factories and...ugh, you're right, it was a long and arduous few years."

Romelle laughed," It's all behind us no, everything has been stabilized and the ordinary workers should be able to deal with it now and things should run smoothly."

"But still!",Claire sat next to her, " This is the first step for Akira into the research and development sector. It's really exciting, acquiring Tora Tech would give us a good foothold in the industry."

Ryan nodded," Yes, They are working on some great projects, but Romelle," Ryan turned towards her," are you sure that we should allow Alan to keep being the senior manager?"

Romelle nodded, it wasn't as if she had not thought for a long time about the matter, Tora Tech was originally a company set up by Alan's father and which he had inherited after his death. Many of the shareholders pulled out and no one was willing to invest in the company after a failed project and Alan was searching everywhere for an investor.

Romelle and Alan had talked over the phone for a while and when Romelle mentioned buying the company from him, Alan was very against it. After much negotiation, Romelle decided to just acquire the company but still allow Alan to still be the manager of the company as he had done well during the time that he was the President.

At present, she was just going to talk to Alan about investments and new research equipment and labs.

Romelle was actually quite excited, this was the first time she would be acquiring a company in both of her lives so she had to make sure that everything was done perfectly.

Right then, there was a knock on the door," Ms. Jacobs! Mr. Parker is here."

"Come in," Romelle returned as she fixed her hair and turned towards the door. She had to make sure that she gets this company.
