Romelle froze for a second. Then she gave a polite smile and turned her gaze towards the other two people by the male lead's side.
A young man and woman, both should be in their early 20s. Romelle smiled at them in turn.
Before casting her head back towards the group around her.
She sighed to herself in relief.
That could have gotten awkward easily.
Evan waved the three of them over when he saw them, "Hey guys! meet my cousin and my friend!"
Evan excitedly beckoned Romelle over.
"Romelle," Evan beckoned, "These are my friends Noah, James, and Kara. Noah and James dormed with me in university."
"This is Romelle and Ryan her secretary, "Evan introduced.
"It's a pleasure to meet all of you," Romelle smiled," Thank you for looking after Evan."
"It was no problem!" James chirped," We've been wanting to meet the famous Ms.Jacobs for a while now! And now we finally got the chance, right?"
James smiled as he shook Romelle's hand,' Evan always talks about you! Romelle this and Romelle that.... you two must be really close!"
Romelle laughed," Yes, we are. He's like my own brother, maybe even a twin. We did everything together since we were kids."
"Well, except university," Romelle said as she pulled away," So thank you for taking care of him."
"No problem! He's our friend after all," James smile.
"Oh Romelle, I never knew you cared so much," Evan sniffed as he wiped a nonexistent tears.
"You'd be surprised, "Ryan mumbled in English.
"Ryan, you joke so much!"Romelle replied back as she gave him a warning look.
"I never said anything."
"What are you both mumbling about?" Evan asked.
"Ryan was just saying that everyone in the family pampers you Evan."
"Haha! What do you mean Ryan? Obviously, I'm not the youngest or anything," Evan said as he wagged a finger at Ryan leaning closer tapping at his chest," I am treated like everyone else, hmph!"
"Haha, yes, of course Evan," Ryan said slowly backing away, shooting Romelle a look.
Romelle rolled her eyes. Ryan always jabbed at her whenever he could. Honestly, she didn't hate it and she knew it was his weird way of showing affection, but it didn't make it any less annoying. But she wasn't one to complain.
She was exactly the same.
And it's not like anyone else would understand what they said, in the novel, there was no country that spoke english. Romelle and Ryan knew that they were fluent in the Novel's language and didn't need to learn it. They had decided to speak english to each other so that classified information wouldn't leak outside.
She turned back towards James to catch Noah staring at her with a weird expression.
"What language is that? I never heard of it before," Noah said, reaching forward to shake her hand.
"Oh, it's....," Romelle pretended to frown as she quickly shook Noah's hand," My... I seem to have forgotten! I'll have to ask Ryan, too many things happened today, you'll have to forgive me."
"It's alright," Noah responded leisurely," I hope we get to know each other."
"Likewise."
"I heard that Akira will be taking over Tora Tech soon," Noah probed.
Romelle smiled," It seems like young master Noah is well informed. I don't think Akira tech has released anything about it yet."
"I didn't mean to pry," Noah replied modestly, he adjusted his neatly ironed collar," it's just that Akira tech is one of the leading companies today and any move is sure to make waves."
Romelle laughed, what a smooth talker! To be honest, Romelle had thought the male lead was all talk and no show. There were times Cassy had written rebirth novels where someone would transmigrate as the cannon fodder would in the novel. The male lead always happened to be less than ideal in those novels and always seemed to be a shell, and the novel would just cover up those fallacies. But, it seemed like Noah wasn't one of those.
It was a shame, Romelle wondered what it would be like if Noah was one of those male leads, but he couldn't be too far off. He did fall in love with an employee after all. Even provided a back door! Exactly the type of people Romelle despised.
How cunning! At least she's had experience with people like him, Romelle consoled herself.
"I'm honored that you think so Mr. Hathway," Romelle returned," If you'll excuse me, I have to break those two apart," Romelle said waving towards Evan who was still argueing with Ryan.

" I think she doesn't like you very much Noah," James chuckled," I mean, that was kinda weird."
"But, I usually talk about business relations like that," Noah frowned at a loss.
"She came today as Evan's relative, not as a prospective business partner," James laughed," Usualy, it's you in the situation where others try to get to know you, but today it's the other way around, it's kinda refreshing!"
Noah didn't respond.
"But I have to say, the rumors were true about her being a beauty! Like wow, she's fine!"
"She seems sort of mean," Kara snorted," She didn't even talk to me."
"You didn't introduce yourself Kara, who would notice a mute?" James rolled his eyes," Seriously, you guys are ridiculous! The first thing Noah talks about is her relations with a company that aren't even made public yet, like what? I would not like us either."
"She could have been nicer...," Kara frowned.
"Where was she not nice? She was the epitome of polite!" James argued back," Honestly it's like this all the time! Would it kill you guys to make a good impression on Evan's cousin?"
"But..."
"Enough," Noah sighed," James is right, I was out of line. I just couldn't handle my curiosity and it backfired."
Kara looked aghast as Noah walked away towards Evan and Romelle.
