Chapter 22 - Sixth Star

"Croak, where are you? This isn't funny. If you're still playing David and hiding in the woods every time Saul starts to get mad at you then come out right now. I'm underneath the fig tree collecting the pieces as we speak. Thought this task was to befall upon you but I see now that the ground has take…...n you! Uhmmm Croak, why is the helmet you retrieved suddenly cracked on both sides?"

"Has she not seen? Has she not heard?"

"Who said that? I know you're out there. My sword is unsheathed and pointed at you wherever you may hide. You may be invisible but with God's help He makes the invisible…..visible!"

Something whizzed through the air and I sliced. His body split in two as blood washed me clean.

"Is that all you got? The gates of hell shall not prevail!!!"

The sun rose to its highest and its rays cut through the thickest of darkness as my eyes struggled to believe what it was seeing. Wild beasts, giants, spirits, wolves, and creatures of the cave littered the ground like clouds on a cloudy day. Their faces were sickening to look at but hard to turn away.

"We can't let you take those pieces milady. All of these have been under our care for years so if you think you can just waltz in and take our possessions from us in the blink of an eye then you have another thing coming. You'll be dealt with in the same manner that your friend was dealt with when he tried to take back what was not his to begin with. He was weak and you are no different."

"You forget your place heathens. For the same spirit that raised Christ from the dead is the same spirit that lives within us. I've slain both the bear and lion when they came against me and you shall be no different for I help protect my Father's sheep. If He can deliver me from them then who are you to stand in my way? Now the ground will be watered with your blood and your flesh shall be blown away like the wind. I'll drink the sweat of your fears and you will know this day that it is God who goes before me in all my battles so whom shall I fear?

Waters of everlasting life…...flood this place!!! You want to know my name? Wings of an eagle make me fly! I shall give it to you so that it will strike fear into all of your hearts and condemn you for your actions. I am…..the Sixth Star. Earth! Heed my words and open your mouth wide."

"Aaaaaaaaagh!!!!!!!!"

"Eagle, take me down. Are the rest of you going to stand there or are you going to fight?"

The ground closed back up and the waters stilled as an answer was slow forth coming.

"Come on guys. We are spirits of proud noble loyal men. She is nothing more than a measly little girl who is far from home. Do not let her shows of power scare you. There are hundreds of us but only one of her. What, is she going to kill us all by flashing her charm and beautiful looks at us?"

"Hmm! Boys. They're so...single minded. Well then; If you think you can beat me then take me like a man you bunch of cowardly snakes."

"Ssss….snake!! I like the sound that word makes when it rings in my ears. Spirits. Assemble! Creatures of the dark, follow my lead and stack up."

Didn't take long before four giant creatures were staring back at me; all huffing and puffing brimstone out of their nose. What befell my eyes was a poisonous cobra two Goliaths strong in weight and height. Besides that stood a wolf equally as daunting. He had wings spanning two soccer fields each and spewed fire hotter than that of any volcano. The third was that of a lion with claws as sharp as spikes while the fourth resembled a man clothed in armor from head to toe. He bore two axes stained in blood and on his one arm lay the shield of faith which soon would be mine. Apart they were a deadly force but together no man dared take them on single-handedly and live but I was now man.

Peering into the bag of armor my friends had already collected it may have not looked like much but it had to do. A plan was forming in my head and I liked the way it was playing out.

Before I could pull the sword out of the bag the wolf shot fire straight at me and I couldn't move out of the way fast enough. Could this be the end? I can't die today. I can't die this way. Sweat dripped from my eyelids as I frantically tried to find it. I'm barely breathing then…...nothing!!!

I feel no pain. I feel no hurt. There is no burning; no smell of ash; just nothing. Am I dead? Where am I? What happened? Out of the dark I hear my name being called but from where I know not. My name gets called louder and louder and I can't resist it any longer. Dust brushes off my eyelids as they open and see the back of a man standing over me unscathed while fire is actively being consumed within him. He doesn't belong here.
