"We jumped and I screamed so high I thought my lungs would leave my body as the rushing cry of waves hit the water below. My grip tightened around Shadows waist and I'm sure I heard bones cracking but if they did Shadow paid no mind. Fear wasn't even an expression on his face as we stooped lower and lower to our deaths.
At the last minute he veered up and we flew. My helmet came off as I welcomed the warm light breeze to blow through my hair and toss it in the wind. This was the first time I had felt peace in a long time. A smile formed on my face but suddenly changed as Shadow turned invisible and I was falling back down to earth. My eyes closed but then opened to see my hands gripping tightly to fur. I couldn't believe it.
"Shadow?"
The dragon's eye winked and I knew. He set me down in a small clearing and told me to sit there until he came back with firewood. I told him all he had to do was breathe fire and it would appear but he said he doesn't like showing off his powers and I shouldn't either. He'd be back. When he did come back I was already partially asleep and laying down. He wove a blanket out of thin air and I could swear he said the word blanket before it appeared. So much for showing off!
After he tucked me in he tended to the fire and I could see an animal slowly rosting over the coals.
"Shadow, could you read me a bedtime story? I know, I know; I'm too old for one but they help me sleep and…...I haven't heard one in a while."
He smiled and walked over to me.
"A bedtime story you need not. Sleep is what draws near. If we ever meet again I promise you shall hear the grandest of stories but until then you have a story of your own to finish. Until we meet again!"
With that he gave me a kiss on the forehead and I went to sleep. When morning struck the next day; he was gone but a small trickle of fire remained and also a few slabs of meat on a skewer over the fire. Vaguely Shadow crossed my mind but it was all fuzzy. Was he even real? What happened last night and why did he leave?
Although he was fuzzy on my mind I had more pressing matters to deal with at the moment so I rolled up my blanket, ate some meat, and was about to leave when I looked down at myself. How did he? Wasn't I asleep? What happened when I slept? All I had on was a bra and underwear. Everywhere the lion had scratched me was now covered in moss and leaves. There was even a bandaid coming up a spot inside my bra. Then I remembered. I let him heal the back side of me but not the front; so before he left he wanted to make sure I was completely healed. I didn't even want to know how that happened nor did I need to, but if Shadow took care of me this well I wondered how Dreamworld must be. As I took off the moss one by one no blood was seen anywhere and my scratches were visible no longer.
My armor on the other hand had seen better days and told stories of its own. After redressing and armoring up; my feet hit the road once more. Although the day was still hidden, roars of animals quickened my pace. Darkness can't be here already?
As my path widened so did the confusion in my mind. What is Dreamworld? Where is it? Is it a full planet or just a town? If it is a whole planet on its own then how many other planets are out there with their own rules, styles, and lingo? We are so focused on our own lives that the big world is easily lost to us.
Wouldn't be hard to envision how small you must be compared to other planets out there. As you walk your path and think you're helping out just one person; you soon realize how complex and big the story you're walking into really is. Although complex; this story wouldn't be put any other way and it was going to be my mission to prove all of it to be true. What a mighty God we serve!!
"THE END!!!!!!"
