Chapter 43 - Public Disturbance (1)

*********

She said and the Marquis could only agree with her statement because he also had an idea who might be the person behind this mission leaflet that was posted on the mission board of the guild.

Although the Marquis wasn't familiar with the rules of the Adventurers Guild since that guild prohibits someone from the nobility to join and it's been an ironclad rule since the establishment of this guild thousands of years ago.

The Marquis only knew some of the rules because of Scarlette and those are about the mission requests.

He once again took a look at the mission leaflet within his hand before he handed it over back to Scarlette.

"Okay. I'll be joining then. Since you were looking for a place to stay, how about you and that companion of yours staying at my place? I have rented a house here for the meantime."

The Marquis offered a place for Scarlette to stay while they were in the city and the crimson-haired woman just accepted the Marquis' hospitality without hesitation.

"By the way, where is that companion of yours? Did you leave him alone in some place?"

Jeffrey asked her and Scarlette only replied; "I left him at the rear entrance not far away from the city gate with the wagon that I paid for since he got injured on the "practice match" that we had along the way here."

She explained bluntly and the Marquis looked at her and raised an eyebrow with a smug expression.

"More like beating him into a pulp for a warning if that is the right term."

The Marquis said in a deadpan tone and the crimson-haired woman just ignored him as she looked away.

'This woman sure knows how to twist her words sometimes, but I won't fall for what she said about that "practice match" means and it's unfair that the other man got the privilege to have a lesson from Scarlette!'

He thought bitterly as he slumped on his shoulders, and almost made a tantrum out of it.

"Could you please remove the barrier now, Zenon?"

Jeffrey snapped from his thoughts when he heard what the crimson-haired woman said. Even though he wanted to complain for a moment but at the end, the Marquis complied as he took out his medallion-like artifact item and then deactivated the barrier that surrounded them.

The light that surrounds both of them disappeared and both of them could now hear the voices within their surroundings.

At that moment, the crimson-haired woman's ears twitched as she heard something that caught her attention.

"H-hey! Someone is fighting over there!"

"Two adventurers are fighting at the rear entrance not far from the city gate and the guards tried to stop them and the others kept everyone away from the scene!"

"I heard that the one who started is a man with a bulky appearance and that person had a hammer as his weapon!"

"From what I heard, it was an ambush, and that bulky man suddenly launched an attack to the other man, and it seems like the other person is injured in a process…"

"The wagon got destroyed as well."

As she kept on listening to the gossips around them, the crimson-haired woman had already the gist of what's happening and for that moment, she sighed in frustration.

'Seriously? A fight? At broad daylight?'

As she thought of it, the crimson-haired woman took a deep breath to calm herself and looked at the direction where she left Ryan at the rear entrance gate of the city.

'If what these people said were true then, Ryan is now fighting with someone who ambushed him! I want to know who dared to make a challenge like that?!'

Without a second thought, the crimson-haired woman run in a full speed at the direction where she had left Ryan to rest for a while.

"H-hey! Wait for me, Scarlette!"

Jeffrey shouted at her when the crimson-haired woman left him and then, he made a run as well in full speed to catch up with Scarlette who just runs off without thinking and both of them are now heading towards at the direction where the entrance of the city is located.

'This woman…! Just run off like that! She's too fast, and I couldn't keep up with her pace! Just what the heck happened for her to be in such a rush?!'

He thought frustratedly and then increase his pace to catch up with her but still, he is far behind, and the Marquis felt frustrated even more because of this.

Even though being a Commander of the Imperial Army and a Swordmaster had immense strength and combat abilities that far surpassed those knights and warriors under him but when it comes to Scarlette, who was also a Swordmaster, just like him, Jeffrey still felt inferior when it comes to her.

He couldn't fathom the real strength she had and whenever there are times they could met, the Marquis always felt that incredible aura that seeping out within her, although she kept herself hidden but in the eyes of a Swordmaster like him, this wouldn't be the case.

Surely, the crimson-haired woman is the highest rank adventurer in the history and probably, the only SSS-Rank adventurer in the whole world.

The Marquis could tell that Scarlette had something with her in order for her to hide that immense aura that surrounds her.

He snapped from those thoughts as he kept on his pacing to catch up with Scarlette who was in the rush, and he truly didn't know what caused her to be like this.

'Aish! So unfair!'

He thought as he clicked his tongue in annoyance and set aside his frustration for now as he kept following that woman.

After some minutes had passed, Jeffrey arrived at the place of the commotion and noticed that some people had gathered around within a certain area.

His eyes roamed around the area to looked for a certain crimson-haired woman, but he couldn't find her within these crowded people around him.
