Chapter 40 - The Cursed Blade: Devour

"My lady, may I ask you a question?" Inquired Auden as he jumped over a piece of debris.

"Indeed you can, but there's a possibility that I won't answer it." Grinned Imogen while peacefully walking down the narrow white hallway.

"Well then, where are we going; it seems as though we've been walking down the same hallway for quite some time?" Questioned Auden as he shoved a tooth back in place.

"I don't know and the more I think about it, the more I think you're right; isn't that the chandelier you had caught before?" Ascertained Imogen while kneeling down and looking at the chandelier.

"It is, I know that much; but how could we of been walking down the same hallway for so long and not even noticed?" Asked Auden as he suddenly jerked his head up.

"Congratulations on noticing your predicament, but as of now I'm starting a ten minute timer and if you don't get out before then; you die." Chuckled an old man while shuffling down the hallway with impunity.

"What!" "You're the same old man that told me to go into that hallway filled with traps, I'm going to make sure you suffer in anguish!" Snarled Imogen as she ran at the old man in fury.

"Nine minutes actually, you better hurry; time doesn't wait for the foolish." Smiled the old man while blocking her halberd strike with his bare hand.

"I'd rather die than live knowing I didn't do everything I could to kill you, did you know that I fell on almost every single trap in that hell spawn of a hallway!?" Snapped Imogen as her punch to the gut was blocked.

"Every trap actually, but that wasn't my fault; it was just your own carelessness that did that." Chortled the old man while letting Imogen's halberd try to penetrate through his skin.

"No, if I never went down that hallway-." Countered Imogen as she was cut off.

"-You would've never found whatever goodies laid in wait past the end and you would still be sitting in last place behind all those idiots that didn't go down the hallway you did." Reasoned the old man while continuing his trek down the hallway.

"Oh and eight minutes now, you better hurry; the clock forgives none." Added the old man as he passed out of Imogen's line of sight.

"For crying out loud, I hate that old coot; he even gave me a headache." Scowled Imogen while turning around to see that Auden was gone.

"Salvation!" "I see light, freedom is upon us!" Announced Clarence as he swam up to a giant bloody gash that had acid leaking out of it. "Is this a wound?" "Actually never mind, all this means to me is freedom; I don't need to worry about anything else." Murmured Clarence while slowing down slightly.

"It sounds so loud out there, I can only wonder what's happening; what if it's eating something." Pondered Clarence as he neared the body tear.

Suddenly the waters got turbulent, wave after wave popped up out of the sea for seemingly no reason. Clarence was tossed up and dragged under, every time he arose; he was immediately swallowed by another wave.

"What's happening, waves like this could only happen if the creature was spinning around like an idiot; why would such a big creature even move this much!" Cried Clarence while noticing that his shield was draining much quicker now.

But as abruptly as the waves started, they stopped and all the acid started to drain away from where Clarence wanted to go. Soon the whole stomach tipped over, leaving Clarence to have to grasp onto the now barren stomach; this made him notice that there were actually many more giant tears in the stomach lining.

"My arms feel like they're about to fall off, but I only have a little ways more left to go before I reach the hole; I can't give up even though I want to!" Declared Clarence as he slowly climbed up the wall of flesh, catching a glimpse of a colossal mouth.

"Is that an even bigger creature... is it waiting for me?" Wondered Clarence while watching the colossal creature eye up his beautiful radiance with impunity.

"Auden!" "You can't just leave, get back here!" Shouted Imogen as she searched around for Auden. "Fricking hell, now I need to find a way out by myself now; hopefully fate is kind to me." Sighed Imogen while searching around for anything out of place.

~~~
"Nothing, there's absolutely nothing; I can't find a single thing to even warrant the existance of an exit!" Raged Imogen as she slammed her fist into the wall. "Patience isn't my strong suit and it's even worse under pressure, if I live; I'll roast that old man over a dam's campfire!" Fumed Imogen while punching the wall several times in absolute fury.
In Imogen's maddening frenzy, the wall broke apart and crumbled into splinters; showing the way to a secret room.
"Oh look at the time, only thirty seconds left; better hurry!" Cackled the old man as he sprinted past Imogen.
"Impatience is the true patience, I planned this all along; it turns out that I'm just too smart for my own good." Jested Imogen while morphing into her tick form for extra speed as she dashed through the hidden hallway.
"Only ten seconds left, will you make it; or will you burn!" Howled the old man as Imogen came to a table with seven keys. "Only one is the right key, which one is it; I DON'T KNOW!" Roared the man while almost choking on laughter.
*饾悞饾惒饾惉饾惌饾悶饾惁 饾悗饾惄饾悽饾惂饾悽饾惃饾惂: It's the second one to the left
Imogen violently jerked her hand towards the second key on the left and picked it up, this caused a door to be summoned just like before. Imogen quickly inserted the key, her fingers were scrambling to open the door and nearly dropped the key onto the floor.
"Screw you old man, next time I see you; I'll burn you on a pyre!" Bellowed Imogen as she jumped through the door while flipping the old man off.
The jaws of the horrid beast tore through the dead creature's skin, making one colossal laceration. Its eyes were filled with the desperate need to consume the bright luminescence sitting right before it, the beast could not wait a second more.
But soon the beast's eyes exploded with rage as it watched Clarence let go and slide down into the stomach acid, it looked almost as though it took on a fiery sheen. With one gaping bite, it latched onto the corpse and dragged it into a shallow body of water in fury.
"Hold on tight little guy, I'm making my own way out; this new sword feels powerful!" Hollered Clarence while removing the sword from his sheath and hacking into the dense flesh.
"My idea is working surprisingly well, what's this sword made out of; it feels like it's at least in the lower class of the The Awakening Tier!" Appraised Clarence as he finished cutting a jagged hole through the creature's corpse.
Clarence pushed himself through the small cut he had made and reached the outside ocean, but more importantly; he saw land not too far away. As soon as Clarence saw the small visage of land, he instantly speeded over to it; almost forgeting about the giant creature that was watching him in vexation.
"The Ancient Ones have changed tactics, we have to leave now!" Insisted The Crimson Of Dusk while running towards the rest of The Crimson Ones. "Grab The Chosen One, he comes first and foremost!" Demanded The Crimson Of Dusk as she slowed down slightly.
"Who put you in charge, if they attack; we can wipe the soil with them." Sneered The Crimson Of Pale while relaxing on a stool.
"Be quiet Crimson Of Pale, we need to ensure the safety of The Chosen One and we can't do that while fighting Ancient Scourges." Interrupted The Crimson Of Tenebrosity as he picked up The Chosen One.
"Haha, this is where you meet your end Crimson Ones, we've heard news that The Crimson Majesty has already fallen; this means you're the last rodents we have to crush before the world burns!" Alledged an Ancient Scourge while he and four others jumped down from the trees.
"Move now, we can't let them kill The Chosen One; it'll mean our true end!" Boomed The Crimson Of Tenebrosity as he ran to the newly crafted boat.
"Let him run, let's kill the other Crimson Ones; they're weak apart!" Ordered an Ancient Scourge while he jumped on top of The Crimson Of Dusk.
"Par茅nth, leave her be; we've got to kill The Chosen One!" Commanded Tar贸na as she pushed Par茅nth off The Crimson Of Dusk. "The Chosen One is the only one we need to eliminate, leave the rest!" Pleaded Tar贸na while guarding The Crimson Of Dusk.
"Traitor!" "You know our plan, yet you've just ruined the best chance we've had in millions of years to wipe out The Crimson Ones!" Growled Par茅nth as he clawed Tar贸na in the face. "Kill her, we can still salvage this opportunity." Stated Par茅nth while looking directly at the rest of The Ancient Scourges.
"But we can't kill The Omniscient One's child, he would kill us all; even if he does show no care for her." Objected another Ancient Scourge, foot brushed upon that of twig.
"Fine, but keep a very tight leash on her; she is to never leave your sights!" Thundered Par茅nth while starting on his vendetta against The Crimson Ones.
"Mhm, leave Tar贸na; leave before he comes back and never show your face around us again." Mumbled an Ancient One as he turned his back to Tar贸na.
