13th July 2020:
As the time passed, Jayden's experience was forgotten by all. Even Jayden didn't remember much about the nightmare he thought he would never forget. He was now a teenage boy who had same hair, same eyes and had average height. He was still skinny but he finally able to find a best friend. His friend Jacob was a tall boy with black hair and black eyed. He always wore the same cat glasses. Both of them were inseparable. Their first meeting was weird.
Jayden was scared at that time. Someone had whispered something and he was the only one who heard it. He was sitting in cafeteria all alone, trying to finish his ham and cheese sandwich when the teacher entered the cafeteria with a boy.
"Hello everyone! This is your new schoolmate. Make him feel welcomed." she'd said and then smiled gently. She left the boy. He was really nervous. He scanned the cafeteria and came to the only almost empty table.
"Hi! I am Jacob Fernan. Can I join you?"
" Hello! My name's Jayden Smith. Have a seat." Jayden had replied in nervousness. Jacob smiled and sat across him. He was in the same class as Jayden was and slowly they became friends and from friends to inseparable buddies.
Today they were in the park. Jacob was leaning on a tree and Jayden was simply sta ing his brother who was 11 now. He and Samuel had become best buddies too. But They were playing tag with some other kids.
"So now we are in high school." Jacob said.
"Sure we are!" replied Jayden. "You excited?" he added knowing the answer.
"You think, I really wanna join the basketball team this time."
" You need to practice for it. You are not practicing at all Jacob." Jayden said punching his right arm.
"I will start from tomorrow. Let's walk for sometime."
" Hey let's go to some other place. I've seen a park 6 to 7 blocks away. Let's go there. There are basketball nets over there too." Jayden suggested which was accepted by Jacob readily.
The park was not crowded. Some of them were jogging, others simply sitting on benches. Both of them entered the park and started walking. It was a big park and soon they were pretty far from the entrance/exit.
They were walking and talking about random stuff. Favorite game, latest episode of their favourite show, favourite characters and what not.
"Ouch! My toeee!" Jayden cried in pain. They were so busy talking that they didn't see the gravestone.
"Oh boy! We are standing on a dead guy." Jacob said grinning and stepped to the other side.
"What the heck is a grave doing here?" Jayden said grumpily still massaging his toe.
"I don't know. Let's see what else is here." The idea of exploring made Jayden forget his pain. The boys started walking and they found more and more graves.
"Woah did you know that there was a graveyard at the back of this park!" Jayden exclaimed.
"Yeah I knew about it. Dad's friend mentioned it once. He said that is the reason why people prefer that park and not this."
"Cool! What do you say, shall we go deeper?" asked Jayden.
" i don't know! It's getting late and we should go back to our homes." Jacob replied. He was feeling scared now but didn't want to admit it.
"So we will come here tomorrow." Jayden said and they turned back.
"Stop bumping into me, you idiot!" Jayden said pushing Jacob away from him.
"Hey, I am not bumping into you." Jacob said. He looked offended.
"Hahaha, very funny! I am soo scared Jacob." Jayden replied, clearly not believing his friend. And then the environment changed. The temperature dropped a couple of degrees and it started stinking like a rotten egg. That is when Jayden felt someone on his back. He turned back quickly but there was no one except for a tree. It's branches were touching his back and, on one of its branch, there was a necklace with weird looking amulet.
" What do you think this is?" asked Jayden in a tense voice.
" I don't freaking care what it is. We should get out of here. We should never come back to this place ever. Now come on!" Jacob started pulling his friend away from the tree but in the meantime, Jayden accidentally touched the amulet. He didn't even realise that he touched it.
It was getting dark. The park was almost empty except for the boys and an old man. He smiled creepily when he saw them.
"Where are you returning from, eh boys?" he asked in a creepy voice, smiling creepily. His voice sent chills in their spines and his eyes.. His eyes were creepier than his whole self. The boys started running towards the exit. They kept running until they were infront of Jayden's house.
" Wha.. What..de..do..you.. think we should do?" Jacob asked, bending. Both of them were hyper-ventilatiing. It was the creepy dude and the running that took their breath out of their chests.
"I think we just shut up and act normal. If we say something, we will have to explain why we were exploring a graveyard." Jayden replied after sometime.
"I was thinking the same thing. But we are not practicing basketball over there. Let's go to the mall and subscribe for their basketball court." Jacob said. His eyes were still full of fright.
"Come in, let's drink something and then you can go back." Jayden suggested which was gladly accepted. After 10 minutes, Jacob left his friend's place feeling a lot calmer than he was. But Jayden was feeling weird. There was something that was nagging at the back of his head. Some memory was trying to break out but was not able to do so. This made Jayden restless. He knew that the answer for his restlessness was in that graveyard. But he didn't have the guts to go back there. The necklace with the amulet was still in his mind.
