Chapter 56 - The Explosion

In a small town in Star Mysteria, people were busy in the night market. Hurried footsteps, the screams of hawkers, and bustling artists kept the city busy. Gorgeously dressed couples moved around, shyly holding each other's hands.

(Author's note: I named this country Star Mysteria)

A football sized asteroid zoomed past and crashed into a small park. A huge pit formed in the area. Few people heard the sound so they went to take a look at the scene, others went on with their work.

A few seconds hadn't even passed when the asteroid glowed into a dark shade of purple. A huge wave of energy emerged from its depths and it blasted. Nearby buildings trembled under the shockwave. This time, the whole city heard the explosion.

The scene turned into a panic. People ran here and there. Some went into the buildings, scared, while some ran out, worried that the buildings would collapse.

A cloud of purple smoke rose from the scene and diffused into the air.

One-by-one, people fell down on their spots. The nearby people hadn't even reacted when their minds also blanked and they fell down. Soon, the whole town had fainted.

The situation of the night market was pitiable. Lovers were piled on each other, their hands still held in the tight grip. Malls and supermarkets filled with people, all of them lost in some kind of sleep. Cups and bowls of utensils shattered on floors in the restaurants.

A nearby biker's eyes rolled back as he fell off from the speeding bike. Unaware of any pain, he laid still on the spot. The bike kept moving, it wobbled over some fallen people who remained unmoved, and crashed into another car in the middle of the road. A trail of blood streamed out of the car. A hand with a beautiful ring laid limp outside the window.

Skidding of tyres, vrooms of vehicles, crashes, automatic alarms, and explosions sounded in the area. No one was capable of hearing or reacting to anything. A red car burst into fire on some road, with flames reaching the sky, burning everything in the vicinity.

Maybe fire was the only thing active here.

A few minutes passed, and now it was silent all around. Not a moving creature could be heard. A few leaves rustled as a small gust of wind passed by.

City V

They were welcomed by three helpers who were taking care of the villa. There were two helpers; one was a lady who was the cook, and the other two were males, who did all the cleaning and maintenance work.

The cars were parked in the basement and everyone just got some necessary luggage out for the time being.

The villa had six to seven bedrooms. Li Daiyu absolutely preferred personal space so she and Rong Qing were allotted two bedrooms. Li Jin and Fang Bai also wanted separate bedrooms for themselves. Duan Wei and Tang Rong had no problems staying with each other so they took one room. Li Muyang and Mo Ning agreed to stay in one room for a short amount of time because they would leave for their mission after two days.

Their task at the moment was to make sure that their client's relatives and friends wouldn't feel uncomfortable in a new place. They often traveled all around the country for missions and had been to City V five or six times. They would explain to the clients about the customs and culture of this place so that they wouldn't feel any difficulty when traveling and visiting different places.

Everyone had comfortable baths in their rooms. Those who shared rooms took turns one by one. After taking a hot bath, the dinner was tasty homemade food.

After dinner, they all unanimously decided that they would have a nice sleep first and then decide about the plans from the next day. One-by-one everyone retired to their rooms. Li Jin had gone back earlier, but after some time he came back again when the living room was quiet, and brought back the fruit knife from the fruit basket with him.

Li Jin went into his room, kept the knife on a nearby table, turned off the lights, and opened the windows and curtains. He dazedly sat on a sofa by the window and looked at the calm night sky. It was already nine o'clock at night. His heart was beating very fast. The climate in City V was very nice, with vegetation all around. The cool air brought goosebumps on his arms.

Li Jin had no idea how the peaceful world would turn into a bloody mess and life would turn upside down. In his last life, he had barely gotten used to the life of common people, similarly like his current life.

Honestly, he did not want to admit it, but he had strangely gotten used to the chaotic world. All the peaceful talks and stuff other than worrying about survival made him wordless. Survival was what he knew, and he was best at it. Looking for food when he was hungry, clothes when he was cold, home when it was raining, survival drove him.

What would he do in his new life?

Those people who chased him until his death, hopefully they haven't found him now. He doesn't even desire any revenge.

What is his purpose now? Silence.

So be it, since he is destined to live, he will live. And if a situation comes when he will have to face death, he will happily accept it. Until then, he will just live for himself.

Li Jin did not know how long he sat in the same position, he suddenly saw a beam of light in the night sky. He abruptly rose up from the seat and stumbled because of his numb legs. The streak of purple light blasted mid-air, leaving a cloud of smoke in the place. The sound of the explosion was like a huge burst of thunder.

The huge sound of thunder in a clear sky caused confusion everywhere. Li Jin was now on the balcony of his room, clutching his ears. After some time, he heard the sound of the windows being opened in the nearby rooms of the villa.

"Hey, what was thi-" *thump*

*thump*

*thump*

Li Jin was sure that he heard Fang Bai's sound and the thump afterwards. He immediately went inside and ran towards Fang Bai's room. After aggressively knocking on the door for two minutes, there was still no response.

Li Jin immediately opened the knob of the room and went inside. There, Fang Bai lay sprawled on the floor near the window, showing no reaction.

"Fang Bai? Hey Fang Bai, wake up!" Li Jin quickly went to pick up the fallen youth who did not move an inch even after repeatedly calling his name.
