Chapter 19 - The Scheme

"Have you confirmed that he is coming?"

An old voice sounded on the phone.

It was a study with an office table on one part of the room and a big sofa on the other.

At this time, a man and woman were sitting on the sofa and listening to the person on the other side of the phone.

"Yes Mr. Zhao. He will come, it has been confirmed."

The man spoke. There was also a hint of fawning in his voice.

"Good. What could we have done? He never listened to my warnings. Now he will suffer and then know the consequences of offending me."

The person on the other end said darkly.

Listening to him, the man also quickly started supporting him.

"Of course sir. He should know his place. He was too impudent to offend you."

"Hmm" The old man was satisfied but after a pause, he suddenly said with a severe voice. "You must also know how to control him. He is your son but it doesn't look like that at all. If you were not so stupid and hadn't sent him to the orphanage, this situation would never have happened in the first place.

After he learns his lesson, do keep him in control."

The man in the study was stiff. He shot an accusing look to the woman by his side who silently dug her nails into her knees.

She tried to change the topic by silently mouthing something to her husband who successfully got distracted.

He hurriedly replied.

"Yes, yes Mr. Zhao. I'll definitely remind him of his position and teach him to be 'filial'… As for the other part of the deal..."

"Don't worry. As soon as Fang Junjie is in our control your son and daughter will be placed in the shareholders of his company. They will have successful careers thereafter."

The man and woman looked at each other, very satisfied.

They just thought that the only person whom they needed to defeat was Fang Junjie.

Fang Bai was just a spoiled little brother who was stubborn and ruined his reputation by working as a small mechanic and bartender.

Well, there was nothing wrong with working in these jobs too, but people who have screwed brains have their own magical trains of thoughts.

.

.

Back in his office, Fang Junjie was busy looking at the progress of his supermarket chain.

He had obviously forgotten about the lunch.

The office was open on two sides, hence, it was fully illuminated by the sunlight that came through the fully glass windows.

Outside one window was a balcony full of lush green plants with a beautiful swing.

Inside the office, there was a proper table and a cozy chair on which he currently sat.

It was given to him by an eighteen years old, cute Fang Bai.

It was Fang Bai's birthday but that little dumpling instead gave a gift to him, saying that it was a return gift.

'Today is Monday, and Xiao-Bai's 20th birthday is on Thursday. I still could not find a perfect gift for him.'

He still remembered when he, Fang Bai, Tang Rong and Duan Wei used to accompany Aunty Feng to the Buddhist temple.

Aunty Feng was vegetarian and had a beaded bracelet on her wrists all the time because of her religious beliefs, and they all too were somewhat influenced by her.

Once when they were very young, a Great Monk had come to them when they visited the temple.

He was very old.

Until now he has heard stories about that monk living for more than a hundred years.

That day, the monk came and looked at him and Fang Junjie for a long time.

They were vigilant and scared, so all four of them started holding their hands together so as to give power to each other.

The monk started smiling after looking at them.

He then said a few words which he could not understand at that time.

Aunt Feng suddenly had a very serious expression on her face after hearing him.

After coming back from the (temple), she had immediately given separate rooms to four of them.

She also removed the non-vegetarian dishes from his and Xiao-Bai's food.

They did not completely follow all the Buddhism rules, only a few like having a vegetarian diet and staying away from alcohol or cigarettes.

Duan Wei and Tang Rong did not want to have such separate lifestyles from both of them.

So they too began to follow a vegetarian diet.

That day when Duan Wei had said about his initiative to quit the non-vegetarian diet, they had looked at him in a new light.

He could sacrifice his love for food for their friendship.

With time, their bond only became stronger.

As he grew up, he slowly understood what the Great monk had said that day.

'Amitabha… These kids have great destinies.

This little one called Bai and his brother will have a turning point in his life when they turn 20.

At that time, all four of them will also face difficulties.

There will be a disaster. Amitabha…

Your unity will give you the strength to face everything head-on. Always stay together.'

After this, the monk suddenly turned serious while pointing at Fang Bai and Fang Junjie.

'This little boy and his brother, both have blood written in their fate.

All the karma will have a great weight on their souls. It would instead lead them to destruction.

In order to avoid this fate, they should only have a proper vegetarian diet and stay away from alcohol and similar things that can affect the mind's judgement.

Amitabha…

If you need direction, then you can come to me when this little one called 'Bai' turns twenty.

Amitabha…'

While he was thinking about the words of the monk, Fang Junjie looked at the photo of their orphanage, their home.

It was both a warm as well as hard place. Struggling for the necessities among the children with various schemes which they had learnt since young…

Orphanages could never become real homes.

Fang Junjie suddenly remembered something and called Han Bo, his secretary.

Han Bo was eating his lunch in the canteen when he got a call from his boss.

'I wonder what urgent work it is for Junjie to call. Also, Junjie again didn't eat his lunch. I have to inform his younger brother Fang Bai.'

*Shudder*

'I don't want to be stared at by those deep eyes of his. They always scare me despite the young man's smiling face.'

He excused himself from the other employees and went to a secluded corner.

"Hello Boss!"

He was always formal while talking with his friend in public places.

From the other side came a smooth voice.

"Yes, Han Bo, don't forget to send this month's donations to the orphanage. I may be busy later and have no time, so do keep it in mind."

"Okay boss. But, don't you want to meet Mrs. Feng? She misses you every time."

"Uh… No, I won't go there this time. But do invite her for this Thursday. It's Xiao-Bai's birthday. The celebration will be private according to the wishes of Xiao-Bai. "

"Okay boss, noted."

"Hmm…" Fang Junjie's voice suddenly seemed distracted.

Han Bo vaguely guessed something and made an excuse to cut the call.

It could be said to be a stupid thing for Fang Junjie to call Han Bo specially for this work.

After all, Han Bo would also go to the CEO's office after lunch because he was the special secretary.

But Han Bo knew that Fang Junjie was especially paranoid about it.

Fang Junjie had once told him about the one week delay of donations in their orphanage when he was small.

The food supply had been used up and by the end of the week, all the children had to fight and snatch food from each other in order to get a portion.

Fang Junjie and Tang Rong were once ganged up on by a group of children much older than them because they were fast to snatch food.

Fang Bai and Duan Wei were still small for the snatching.

Those boys took away the only pancakes he had managed to get.

Fang Junjie, Fang Bai, Tang Rong and Duan Wei had to sleep with growling stomachs and aching wounds that day.

Since then they all would unconsciously store food for emergencies.

There would always be a few snacks in their bags to prevent starvation.

Sadly, when the conditions are good now, Fang Junjie has no time to enjoy the food.

His all focus is just on his work.

Just like a machine.

Han Bo was thankful to be born in a good family.

He again went back to his seat and continued his lunch with his colleagues.

He remembered he had to mention to Fang Bai again about Fang Junjie not eating his lunch.

But, he should again give a last reminder to his friend. Who told him to be softhearted.

He looked down at a new notification in his phone and suddenly had a variety of mixed emotions.
