Chapter 3 - Chapter Three: Finding a job

Jediah

I woke up the next day feeling energized because i had a good rest and also dreamt of Kimorah.

I then got out of bed and headed to the bathroom. The bathroom is small but simple. It has a shower head, a water closet and a sink for washing hands and brushing.

I came out from the bathroom with a towel around my waist and a towel wrapped around my head. I then sat down on the bed and began reminiscing about my past life. I still couldn't believe i was betrayed. Well i sure was going to get my revenge but first i have to get used to this life.

I opened the wardrobe in search of clothes. I picked a plain black trousers and a white pair of shirt. I then put it on and combed my hair back and i looked in the mirror and smiled.

I walked to the living room where i saw Garry sitting in the dinning area and Maggie serving breakfast. Once they noticed my presence they smiled at me.

"Good morning Jediah". Maggie said smiling at me.

"Good morning ma'am". I replied returning the smile.

"Jediah hope you had a good night rest?" said Gary.

"Yes i did and thanks for asking". I replied.

Gesturing me to come to the dinning area, "please come join us for breakfast". said Maggie.

I unhurriedly went to take a sit beside Gary and Maggie began serving the food.

Munching the delicious food, "wow this is nice". I said to Maggie enjoying the meal she prepared.

"Do you want more?" she asked beaming with smiles.

"yes please". I replied still munching what was left on my plate.

After breakfast, Maggie began doing the dishes while Gary and myself went to his study to talk.

Arriving at his study, Gary gestured me to take a sit which i did.

"I would like to thank you for your help Mr Gary. if not for you maybe i would have been eaten by the dishes in the river you found me". I said to Gary feeling sober.

"Jediah, you don't need to thank me. Anyone in my shoes would have offered help". Gary replied.

Maggie then walked in with a tray containing tea and began serving us and left after serving.

"Umm...if you don't mind i would like to look for a job to sustain myself because i can't keep depending on you". I said to Gary.

I know they must have spent alot taking care of a stranger like me and i would like to work in order to pay them back.

"are you sure you're fit to work?" Gary asked feeling concerned.

He was concerned probably because he felt i was not completely healed.

"yes I am". I replied him confidently.

"ok then. what job would you want to do?" He asked sipping from his cup of tea.

"a blacksmith job". I replied.

I didn't even know why i said a blacksmith job but i just had the feeling that it was the job for me.

"hmm...i see. I will introduce you to my friend who is a blacksmith so that you can work with him". Gary said still sipping from his cup of tea.

"that would be nice". I said to Gary sipping from my cup of tea.

Then we began talking about other things and businesses and village matters. Just then Maggie walked in and called us for lunch which surprised me because we took so much time talking about stuff that we didn't realise it was noon already.

We then left the the study to the dinning area for lunch.

Mashed potatoes and stewed chicken was served for lunch which was very delicious.
