Chapter 6 - Chapter Six: "He's a feisty one"

Jediah

After having lunch, Gary decided to take me to see his friend who is a blacksmith.

"See you later dear". Gary said to his wife kissing her on the cheek.

"hmm". She also responded with a kiss.

"Bye Mrs Arman". I chuckled at their display of love.

We then headed out to town while riding our horses in a slow pace.

While on the horse, i marvelled at how beautiful the village was. From the street stalls to the little flower gardens at almost every corner.

This was literally my first time mingling with commoners because back then when i was a prince, i hardly ever left the palace except on rare occasions.

We then made a right turn to a corner of the street which seems lightly different from the main Street.

On entering the street, i could hear clanking of metals and quenching of something hot by water and i guess this part of the street was the blacksmith's spot.

I saw other blacksmith's while we passed by. We then came to a halt in front a blacksmith tent. The man clanking the metal then looked up and smiled.

"Garrrry, it's been long since you visited this place". The blacksmith said excitedly like a child who received candy from it's mother for behaving well.

"I'm glad you're happy to see me". Gary said as he walked up to him hugging him.

The man then glanced at me and asked "who's the handsome dude?"

"Oh...he's my nephew from a distant land and in search of a job". He lied without batting an eyelid which baffled me. I began wondering when i had an uncle named Gary.

"Hello sir". I said smiling to him.

"What's the name?" the man asked in a deep husky voice with the aim of scaring me which made me chuckled.

"Jediah!" I also said with the same tone which he used in asking me my name which surprised him.

"He's a feisty one i see". he chuckled.

"Jediah this is Steve. He's my very good friend". Gary said patting his shoulder.

"I've heard alot about you sir". I said to him proudly.

"I see". He said to me looking into my eyes.

"May i look around if you don't mind sir?" I asked him.

"You may boy". He said chuckling.

Both Steve and Gary went in to talk while i take a look around the place. I began checking out some swords which seemed nice. I was marvelled at the skills used in making it.

I started looking at the materials used in making the sword and i was in a trance where i saw myself making a very beautiful sword with shinny gem stones attached to it. I was pulled out of the trance when i heard Gary call my name.

"I've talked to Steve already so you can start immediately tommorow". He said to me patting my shoulders like how a father does to his son.

I was still shocked by the trance i was in but then i shrugged it aside thinking that it's just me being over excited about making a sword.

Steve came out and shook my hands "congratulations boy, you're now one of us". He grinned from ear to ear.

I then took his hand too in appreciation and bowed my head in respect.

He then took me to introduce me to his other apprentices.

"Hello my name is Blake". A red haired boy who seems to be a teenager and average in height and not too good looking said to me with a huge grin plastered on his face.

"I'm Ethan". Another guy said to me but he seems to be around my age and is slightly built. His skin is a little bit toned probably from staying in the sun alot. His hair is jet black just like mine and has brown eyes and he seems tough.

"I'm Jediah". I introduced myself. "and i would be working with you guys". I said again smiling.

Blake was smiling sheepishly while Ethan just scoffed. Ethan seems like a proud guy which doesn't bother me in any way and I'm sure he detest me.

Myself and Gary bade them farewell and left so i could see other parts of town.

I then remembered something and asked Gary "sorry to ask but why did you lie?"

"I can't go around telling people i rescued a strange man from the river because the people are scared of strangers you know".

I then looked at him with an 'oh' expression. I then brushed aside asking him any further questions.

We then continued our journey.
