Megan was looking for paints, while I went took a pen, it was a special edition for valentines day, took a red butterfly bow fixed it on the transparent pen box, it was a see-through box, I put the box into my pocket, went to Megan, and called her, Megan, she lifted her head and looked at me, she looked so beautiful though her face was little pale, her pretty makeupless face was so angelic, I asked what colour pen she wanted, Megan said black, we picked whatever Megan wanted and I carried it walked behind her, as I called, Megan... and extended my hand with the gift I prepared for her and said Happy Valentine's Day.... Megan, I waited for her response, I was holding my breath, my heart was on fire.
I was scared of Megan's rejection, each second felt like living in hell to me, my hands started to sweat, as I was worried, Megan took the pen case from my hand and said, Thank you, Daniel, wishing you the same, Megan had a sly smile on her blushing face. I was so happy, my heart was doing summersault, and if I had a heart attack it was normal. We reached out from the basement, I put the things, Megan bought on the cash counter, and Megan sat on the couch, Megan had her head down, Megan never looked at me, but she was blushing, her pale face was turning pink. Jack looked at me and asked, Ohi Daniel what did you do, did you wish Megan or stood like a frozen statue, as usual, my dear stone creature, answer me.
I smirked at him and said, I wished her with the special edition of pen that came for Valentine's Day. He chuckled and said, great.... great, what a miracle, when are you planning to propose to her, as we spoke I was looking at my little goblin with a smiling face and was preparing a bill for the pen I took and paid with my card, as we were done. Megan family walked with Mr Brain with a couple of bags, Mr Brain had prepared some refreshment for them, I prepared the bill and gave it to Mr Brain, he passed it, Mr Felix, Mr Felix picked up a pile of notes from his pocket and gave Logan to pay the bill, Logan walked to counter with bill and paid it, I returned him the receipt, and balance, it was few hundreds. Logan tossed the balance amount in front of me on my table, and said, keep the change, I was so angry, I was not favoured by God as he was, but I was more independent than him, I never depended on anyone for my needs, not even my parents or my elder brothers, who does he think he's, tempting my self-esteem.
I got up from my seat and said, Logan, pick your money from the desk, I am an employee here, not a beggar, I looked at him with my bloodshot eyes, and said sternly, as Logan was glaring at me, Mr Felix walked to us and said, Logan, take the money and say sorry to him. Logan was upset, snatched the money from the desk, and said, I am sorry, walked out, without a glance at anyone around him.
Jack came and pressed my shoulder, as I was pulled back by Jack, I noticed Megan looking at me and her brother with a complicated look, I felt like a bucket of ice water poured on my head. I just looked at Megan with a helpless look, as Mr Felix walked to me and said, I respect your self-esteem, sorry for what happened, what's your name? I was trying to reflect on what I did, I was like.... It's ok sir, no need to say sorry, and my name is Daniel Ried.
Mr Felix tapped my shoulder and walked out with their bags, I was looking at Megan, as they reached the door, Megan turned to look at me an astounding look.
I just walked out from the counter to the basement, sat on the chair and I was so angry with myself, I slammed my hand to the wall next to me. I never had control over my temper, only my family and a few close friends knew it, Logan just triggered my monster in me, I never wanted to show Megan this part of me, to her still, I lived, but her brother touched my button line, he didn't give us both to enjoy the moments we had for few more minutes. The way Megan looked at me with fear in her eyes, made me feel like someone was crushing my heart.
Megan Pov
I took the pen case from Daniel's hand, and said, Thank you, wished him, I was so shy to look at Daniel's face, he kept smiling, I sat on the couch not daring to look at him. Logan went to pay the bill and said something to Daniel throwing the balance money on the desk, I saw Daniel got up from his seat, he was so irritated and mad, his eyes were so dangerous, his voice was completely changed as the roar, I was flabbergast by the way he looked and was puzzled do my brother and Daniel each other, why do they both behave look like enemies. My Dad was very strict about our upbringing, he went to my brother told him to say sorry to Daniel, everything was settled, we walked out of the shop, but I turned to look at Daniel, but the anxiety and fear in my eyes never dwindled.
