Chapter 35 - Fortier's Latest Collection

"Hello. Welcome to Deluxe Clothing. How may I help you?" Mo Xin Er greeted with a smile as she approached the lady who just stepped into the store. She could see Fan Liuying also attending to another customer. All the other girls were also occupied. She came along with Fan Liuying and resumed working at the clothing store a few hours after she returned from her group project with Lu Yichen.

Mo Xin Er shifted uncomfortably in the work attire she was given. It was too tight. The only thing that was still holding her back from dropping the job was because she was allowed to put on trousers.

The lady gave her a small smile, revealing her pearly white set of teeth. She said, "Hello. Call me Mrs. Yoo."

"Hello Mrs. Yoo, what can I get you?" Mo Xin Er replied with a smile.

"Actually, I have no idea. I heard this store just opened and wanted to try it out," Mrs. Yoo said with a sigh.

"Okay, ma'am." Mo Xin Er smiled. She was beginning to love this job. She stretched her hand out signaling for Mrs. Yoo to follow her. She continued, "We have Royal's latest collections. There is also Von Kenneth's Nightingale and Nexus."

Mrs. Yoo shot her an understanding smile. "This is the first time I'm shopping by myself. It's because many people have been talking about this store. So, I wanted to try it out?"

"…"

Mo X Er was shocked.

She began to panic. She was also a shopping novice. Most importantly, she could count the number of times she had shopped by herself with one hand. They weren't even fancy dresses. She had been dealing with people who knew their way around shopping all afternoon.

How was she to handle a novice like herself?

She quickly turned around and looked in the direction of Fan Liuying. It seemed she had finished attending to the elderly woman she was attending to. She was also coming in her direction.

Mo Xin Er exclaimed in her mind, 'Oh Lord, you are so awesome!'

Fan Liuying was beside her in a minute and she glanced at Mo Xin Er briefly before turning to the lady with a smile. Mo Xin Er felt extremely grateful. Fan Liuying even understood her dilemma even before she said it out.

She heard Fan Liuying say, "Hello. I'm Fan Liuying. My friend here doesn't have that much dressing skill so I'll be assisting her to help you choose out the best clothes suited for you." She turned to Mo Xin Er and beckoned to her to come nearer. Mo Xin Er shot her an apologetic smile but Fan Liuying shrugged instead leaning closer and whispered into her ears, "Don't worry. I've got this covered. You can follow me and I'll show you carefully how it is done."

Mo Xin Er nodded and turned to look at the lady who had a curious expression on her face. She wondered why the lady wasn't getting impatient at all. At that reminder, Mo Xin Er walked to her and gave her an apologetic smile. "I apologize for taking your time, Mrs. Yoo."

Mrs. Yoo sighed and said, "I was beginning to worry when you didn't say anything all these while."

They then proceeded to follow behind Fan Liuying as they picked out dresses.

Fan Liuying asked, "What kind of occasion are you planning to go to?"

Mrs. Yoo held her chin and looked thoughtful. "I'm attending a banquet in three days. It's an high class occasion."

Fan Liuying nodded. She pointed in the direction of the showroom. "We have some special dresses over there."

Mo Xin Er who had been quiet all this while was also beside her as they led the lady to the showroom. Mo Xin Er almost gasped at the sight of the ball gown fitted onto the mannequin in the show room.

So elegant!

The lady also seemed awed by this dress but she wasn't exclaiming. She simply assessed the dress with her gaze.

She turned to Fan Liuying. "It's pretty."

Fan Liuying grinned. "It's Fortier's latest edition. And it's limited. We only have two in stock."

Mo Xin Er continued, "It's very pretty and elegant."

Mrs. Yoo nodded and asked, "How much is it?"

Fan Liuying smiled. "It's one million dollars."

Mo Xin Er blinked. Her whole body was screaming 'no fucking way.' It wasn't that she was poor but she couldn't imagine herself spending a million dollar on just one dress she might never wear more than once.

Mrs. Yoo smiled with understanding as she dipped her hand into her bag and brought out a purple card.

"It's unlocked."

Mo Xin Er stretched out and collected it from her and she turned to look at Fan Liuying. She had the same expression as hers. Awed!

Fan Liuying gave her an encouraging nod as she proceeded towards the counter to handle the payment. Mo Xin Er soon returned to them with the card and found Mrs. Yoo sitting with a mug of cappuccino in her hands and a fashion magazine placed on her lap. She couldn't see Fan Liuying beside her anymore; she must have gone to attend to another customer.

Mrs. Yoo seemed to notice that someone had appeared in front of her for she lifted her head up.

With a smile on her face, Mo Xin Er returned her card and said, "I've handled all the procedures. Please collect your dress at the exit."

"No problem," Mrs. Yoo replied and put down the mug gently before getting up to leave.

Mo Xin Er called out from behind her, "Thank you for your patience."

Mrs. Yoo turned and waved at her before leaving. Mo Xin Er looked around. There were no other customers to attend to. She made her way towards the shelves of clothes in the large store. Occasionally, she would stop and compare a few dresses together. As she stood amidst the dresses, she felt that she had gained a little insight into this job.

It was truly satisfying!

"That woman…she is loaded," a voice suddenly said beside her and she didn't even turn to look before knowing it was Fan Liuying.

"It seems she is pretty rich."

Fan Liuying shook her head in disagreement. "I wouldn't call her just rich. She is wealthy. She even has the purple card so she us probably the madam of one of the Great families."

"I see. That ball gown is pretty," Mo Xin Er commented. "But it looks heavy."

Fan Liuying chuckled, "All women like to inconvenient themselves to look beautiful."
