Mo Xin Er bit her lips lightly and looked at Fan Liuying. She felt conflicted. But she knew she wouldn't hide it from her friend. The worried expression on Fan Liuying's face calmed her. She said with a steely resolve, "I'm attending Lu Yichen's party tomorrow."
Fan Liuying blinked. She seemed to not understand the words that were being said to her. She stared at Mo Xin Er with a complicated expression. "Lu Yichen-"
"I'm attending as his plus one," Mo Xin Er calmly continued.
Fan Liuying nodded. "Oh, I see." Her expression had returned to normal though there was still a hint of sadness in her eyes.
Mo Xin Er was surprised. She hadn't been expecting the turn out of events. She asked, "You're not angry?"
"Angry?" Fan Liuying seemed taken aback. She shook her head and said, "Why would I be angry? Lu Yichen is Lu Yichen. Su Jing is Su Jing. They are not the same persons. Why would I be mad at you for getting involved with my ex boyfriend's friend. Moreover, Lu Yichen is a good guy. Even if you were to date him, I wouldn't be against it."
Mo Xin Er snorted.
"Your imagination is so…"
"Amazing," Fan Liuying cut in. "A woman's sixth sense is never wrote. I can totally see you two together in the nearest future."
Mo Xin Er shook her head. She found Fan Liuying's words ridiculous. Lu Yichen and her? It was clearly impossible. Moreover, she would never like someone like him. He was too mysterious and unfathomable. Many people may be fooled by his gentle demeanor but she was an exception. She didn't have the patience to start figuring out such a person. He was like a ticking time bomb. One never knows what could tick him off.
She turned to look at Fan Liuying and asked, "Have you eaten"
"Nope. But I'm starving."
"I'm cooking then," Mo Xin Er declared as she shrugged off her jacket. It landed on the backrest.
"Okay," Fan Liuying called out from behind her as she walked into their kitchen. She grabbed the white apron with a red heart adorned on it and tied it around her neck and waist.
A quick glance around the kitchen showed clearly its lack of use. It was sparkling neat though. She reached out for one of the cabinets closer to her. Bottled spice were placed side by side in the cabinet.
She grabbed one of the bottles and narrowed her eyes. "Alligator pepper?"
"You're gonna be having a lot of fun tomorrow."
Mo Xin Er flinched from the voice of the sudden intruder. She turned back and Fan Liuying was standing by the door, arms folded.
She shook her head. "I doubt so,"
"Oh." Fan Liuying nodded thoughtfully. "I would have gone too but you know…"
"Were you invited?"
Fan Liuying gave a small smile and nodded. "My parents were. I'm supposed to attend. VVIP. But I guess it's invalid now. I have no relations with Lu Yichen anymore."
Mo Xin Er looked at her for a few seconds before turning around without another word. She grabbed the chopping board from a nearby stand and placed it on the table before making her way to the row of cabinets again. She soon fished out a pack of dry spice.
She turned to Fan Liuying. "Do we have any beef at all? And tomatoes too."
Fan Liuying scratched her nose as she walked towards the refrigerator in the corner of the room. She pulled it open and soon made her way towards Mo Xin Er with two preservation packs in her hands. "We don't have beef. But there is a pack of mutton left."
"Okay, thanks."
She returned her attention to the chopping board as she grabbed a knife and chopped the onions and mutton. She said absentmindedly, "You can always go with your parents, right?"
"Huh?"
"Your parents were invited, right?" Mo Xin Er asked turning to look at Fan Liuying.
"Yeah, they will be attending in charge of the company."
"So, you can go with them and we will meet up at the party. I can totally foresee tomorrow." Mo Xin Er paused. "Boring."
Fan Liuying nodded before frowning. "But I don't want to see him. Yu Ran will also be there. Most definitely, I don't want to see them together. God knows how hard I've tried to avoid them in school."
"Oh, I see."
"I'll go though," Fan Liuying butted in. "I can't bear to let you go alone."
Mo Xin Er smiled.
She was about to say something else when the doorbell rang. She was about to go get it when Fan Liuying waved a finger at telling her not to worry. Fan Liuying left to get the door as she continued cooking.
She soon returned to Mo Xin Er though, a delighted expression on her face.
Mo Xin Er narrowed her eyes. "Who was that?"
"One of Lu Yichen's assistants. He is waiting at the door." Fan Liuying gushed, a teasing smile on her face. She continued, "He even got the security guard to let him in."
Mo Xin Er glanced at the cooking pasta for a second before making her way to the living room. She swung the door open and a young man appeared in front of her. He wasn't the assistant who took her to Lu Yichen's penthouse the other day.
"How may I help you?"
Mo Xin Er asked with a squinted eye.
The assistant gave her a once over before flashing her a grin. "Hello, Ms. Mo. I'm Qin Mo. Boss wanted me to give these to you. He said that you should decide which one you want to wear tomorrow. The stylist will be here by 3pm tomorrow."
Mo Xin Er frowned. She didn't like the sound of it. So much hassle.
"The stylist?"
"I'll be here tomorrow by 7pm sharp." He paused before continuing, "You can wait for the stylist to arrive tomorrow to help you chose the dress if you are confused. Boss simply thought you would like it if you decided for yourself."
Mo Xin Er nodded in affirmation before collecting the six shopping bags in his hands. He gave her a small smile before turning around and left.
Mo Xin Er lifted the bags in her hand, a frown etched onto her face- she was beginning to regret agreeing to this.
