When she looked back at the screen, she had seen that everyone had began to move towards their respective positions. She also picked her pace and made her way towards her position too.
What Mo Xin Er liked the most about the game was the way it always felt as if she was in a real war zone. As she gazed at the tall pyramid shaped building that stop fairly two kilometers away from her, she felt like an assassin on a mission.
She couldn't see most of the other players avatars anymore; they must have gone far ahead. She made her way towards the attic, her black cape dancing in the wind. Her steps were light and nimble as she scoured through the empty alley leading towards the attic.
She was about to step in through the large gates of the attic when she sensed movement from inside. She quickly hid behind a wall and watched as one of the vanguards march past her, not noticing her standing her behind on if the walls. The avatar then proceeded again to wall through the arch walls and made her way into the attic. She advanced through the building unnoticed and soon found herself in the core of the tower.
Mo Xin Er reclined back into he sear with the intention of ending the game faster. She could see the avatar of t guy from earlier Pippin up not far from her. His XP bar was still full and there was now a small box fitted on him that indicated how many people he had killed on the way. He was able to take on five player alone without losing any of his XP
Impressive!
He appeared beside her the same moment his voice blasted through the earphones. "It seems we can get the flag without having to go through a fight."
Mo Xin Er glanced at the desktop in front of her and silently nodded in affirmation. It seemed that they wouldn't be needing the whole lot of strategies they had been planning out earlier.
Mo Xin Er's fingers flew swiftly across the keypad and one could see the avatar approaching the last leg of the tower. It was a very tall mass of brick and it stood out amongst the rest. There was a green flag hoisted on the peak.
She could see the other guy's avatar closely behind her as she rummaged through her weaponry. She figured that a gun would be of much help than swords. The two swords disappeared and two black guns manifested in the avatar's hands. She had been so concentrated on what gun to pick, that she nearly missed…it.
Her hand shot out faster and the next moment, the vanguard was down with the gun in his hand, reeling. Mo Xin Er eyed the weapon in the avatar's hand and sighed. She had let down her guard this time.
There hadn't been much time for her to react because a bullet whizzed past her left ear the next moment. Mo Xin Er's eyes widened and her fingers typed faster on the keyboard. She approached the stairs leading towards the altar where the flag was, bullet being fired out from her guns.
She soon get to the altar and glanced at the other person's avatar before pulling the flag out.
However, at the back of her mind, she, thought, 'Isn't this a little too easy?'
The next moment, bullet rained down on them unexpected making it very difficult for them to dodge. Mo Xin Er's fingers shook on the keyboard as picked her pace. She glanced at her HP bar and saw that it had reduced to twenty. Her gaze flew towards her partner's avatar and she saw that he had about forty.
She rolled out of her hiding place, dodging a few bullets and shot three of the vanguards advancing towards her. She had noticed a single window in the corner of the hall. It was very hard to notice and she doubted she was going to fit into it.
With newfound determination, she sprinted towards the window while gunning down every single vanguard on the way. Her partner seemed to have an inkling of her thoughts for he also followed swiftly, clearing some of the enemies out of the way.
Mo Xin Er's control over the keypads intensified as she opened up the window. It was actually much more bigger than she had imagined as she positioned her avatar to roll out. She had been expecting and was also preparing to hold onto something to avoid falling down such an height. But she actually…
She actually fell into a swamp?
'Eh? Was this the infamous from frying pan to fire?'[1]
Mo Xin Er heard her partner curse loudly just right before his avatar fell into the swamp beside her. The next moment, the vanguards appeared by the window and started shooting down on them.
They hurriedly scrambled out of the swamp and began to sprint towards a truck nearby.
He called out through the earphones, "Do you have an arrow bomb?"
Mo Xin Er glanced at the weaponry before hurriedly clicking on it and looked back at the screen as the bomb appeared in the avatar's hand. She glanced at the bomb in its hand and her eyes widened.
No!
No! Double No!
She could vaguely hear him say, "Shit!"
Her fingers flew to the keypads but she was slightly slow for she had earlier controlled the avatar to throw. The bomb flew into the distance in the direction of the vanguards before falling back beside them and blew up.
Mo Xin Er sat back in her seat before leaning back and folded her arms. She could hear the conversation going down through the earphones. Soon, she head his voice. "Good play."
Good play? She wanted to laugh! They actually got the flag and even avoided being shot down by the vanguards but what actually killed them was her own bomb?
She logged out of the game and glanced around the room letting reality sink in. She wasn't actually in a fight. It was just a game.
