How dare she? That journal contained some of my most private thoughts and memories. And she was reading it out loud to the entire class as if it was some hilarious storybook. I bet that was how she found out about the transforming potion because she had read it in my journal!
I marched over angrily like a rooster ready to fight. Kendra sneered at me and before I had the chance to grab it out of her hands, she raised it high up in the air taunting me. I jumped up in an attempt to snatch it out of her hands, but she was much taller than me, I could barely touch it.
Then I did the most shameful thing any girl could do in a situation like this...I yanked her hair then I continued to jump up and down reaching for my journal.
"Ouch! Get off of me you crazy lunatic," Kendra screeched, shoving me out of the way roughly.
I staggered back a few steps, almost tripping over. I finally steadied myself and began to charge towards her like a raging bull. I became so mad to the point I was practically seeing red!
All the angst from the past few days had all rolled into one, and like a big ball of fire, it consumed the last remaining traces of my self-control. I have never hated anyone as much as her and I didn't care anymore. I was ready to kill her. I began pulling her hair and clawed away at her like a wild cat.
Kendra had taken off her blazer, therefore was only wearing a thin white shirt, it didn't offer much protection against my fingernails. I could feel my nails sinking into her skin almost drawing blood. I wanted to hurt her just like she had hurt me.
"Ahhhh! Get off of me you stupid bitch!" Kendra screamed, then she punched me in the stomach, knocking the wind out of me. I gasped in pain then pounced on her once more. I started elbowing her in the ribs, soon we were rolling around on the floor kicking each other, punching and screaming.
People gathered around us, chanting excitedly. There was always some sort of mass hysteria that surrounded people fighting, especially when it was two girls doing the fighting. Molly and Charlie were trying to pull me away whilst Kendra's friends were doing the same to her.
"Eh, what is the meaning of this?!" A loud, authoritative voice shouted across the room. A small, elderly woman with wispy grey hair was stood at the doorway, a look of disapproval spread across her stern face.
The crowd around us immediately departed, revealing me and Kendra sprawled on the floor. Her hair was in a mess and her makeup was all smeared. The shirt on her body all wrinkled and her tie was askew. There were bruises on her face and her eye patch was nowhere to be seen. She was in a terrible state.
Not that I could see myself but I imagined I probably looked no better off. Aside from the pain from my face and body, I could taste traces of blood and the corner of my mouth hurt when I moved, making me wonder if I had a busted lip?
"Never have I witnessed such a scene in all my years of teaching at this school. You ought to be ashamed of yourselves ladies. Report to the Headmaster's office right now!" Mrs Knee screeched. Her voice getting louder and louder with each word. She looked so angry, I thought steam was about to come out of her ears.
"She pushed me first." Kendra retorted, pointing the finger at me.
"I don't care, Miss McCann. You can tell that to the Headmaster. Now off you go." Mrs Knee stopped her abruptly then she glanced at me, "both of you."
Kendra didn't look too happy, she unwillingly got up from the floor and I followed suit. We walked to the Headmaster's office in silence. She seemed to know the way well but she made sure she took her time.
The Headmaster's secretary Mrs Lamb told us to wait outside as Professor was having a meeting. There were two chairs next to each other. Kendra flopped into one of them and I had no choice but to sit next to her.
"This is all your fault you know." Kendra turned to me and muttered accusingly as soon as I sat down.
"Well you shouldn't have stolen my journal then, should you?" I responded, making sure I give as good as one gets.
"You used it to attack me!" She argued.
"You attacked me first," I said rather impatiently. Honestly, this girl was something else. She had a real way of twisting the truth.
"You deserved it." Her face hardened and I did not doubt in my mind that she meant it.
"Professor Revelwood is ready now, you may go in." Mrs Lamb said and motioned for us to go through.
Kendra and I walked in one after another. His office was like a library, with bookshelves lined up wall to wall. I remembered Professor Revelwood from the assembly yesterday, he was a tall and slim man with a grey beard and glasses. Now, up close I could see the sharpness in his blue eyes. He gave off the sense of a scholar and had the natural aptitude of a leader.
He sat behind his large maroon coloured oak desk and there were piles of documents on one side and a large computer monitor on the other.
"Please take a seat." He said.
We did as we were told.
He clasped his hands together and began, "I think you both know why you're here today. Fighting is not tolerated in this school, that sort of behaviour is unacceptable. I suggest you both write out one hundred copies of the school's code of conduct in detention."
"She started it first." Kendra blurted out. "Ask Dr Black if you don't believe me!"
I stared at Kendra in amazement and before I had the opportunity to retaliate, Professor Revelwood said, "Dr Black is currently on annual leave."
Unsatisfied with the response, Kendra crossed her arms across her chest, "then I think we should wait until she gets back before serving the punishment."
Kendra's confidence was almost making me in awe of her. I mean, if she wasn't crazy, that is. I've never seen someone challenge authority like that before. Professor Revelwood was the Alpha here and she was telling him what to do.
Professor Revelwood laughed gently, then he looked at her in all seriousness, "Miss McCann, my decision is final. I'm afraid it will not be revoked."
"Well, I heard Dr Black is injured, who knows when she'll be back!" Kendra said.
