Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: The Trial

Aaron reluctantly woke up the next morning, he didn't want to head back, and he was in every right to not go for a few days, but it was almost the end of week, so he might as well.

Getting ready felt pretty normal, aside from the pain that came from the bruise on his stomach.

He walked down the stairs to find his dad and his mom on the couch,

"Hey, where are you going?" His dad said to him.

"School." Aaron replied.

"Why!? You just got attacked!" His mom said.

"If anything we should pull you out!"

"Look, Mom, we moved out here just for this school." Said Aaron.

"And this will probably never happen again, so I might as well keep going."

"I guess you're right." His mom replied back.

"Son, I told the school about what happened." His dad stated.

"What did they say?" Asked Aaron.

"Well, they apologized and said they would take care of it, so that's something." His Dad answered.

"Well, that's better than nothing." Said William back.

"Well, I guess I'll see you guys later, bye."

"I can drive you there if you want son."

Asked his Dad.

"Thanks Dad, but I think I'm good."

Answerd Aaron.

"Alright, just be careful!" His parents said in unison.

"I will." Replied Aaron.

"I love you."

"We love you too." His parents once agian said in unison.

Aaron began his walk back to Grey Phoenix, dreading what kind of precautions the school would enforce on him.

His fears were confirmed when once he reached the school grounds and he was greeted by the principal.

"Good morning Mr. Lancaster!" Said Mrs Vivian.

"Good morning ma'am." Replied Aaron.

"Well, I heard you were attacked." She stated.

"And so did Mr. McAlaster."

"Who?" Answered Aaron.

"Oh, right. William." She replied.

"He was the one who attacked me!" Said Aaron.

"Well, according to his story, you were both attacked my that Netsuko Valentine girl." Mrs. Vivina stated.

"What!?" Said Aaron in a shocked tone.

"She was the one who saved me!"

"Is that so." Replied Mrs. Vivian.

"I suppose the best course of action, would be to gather all three of you together and have you tell your sides of the story."

"I can agree with that." Stated William.

"Then it's settled!" She giddily stated.

"Now run along, I've made you late enough as is."

As Aaron walked into class he was greeted by a familiar face.

It was William.

"Hey kid!" Said William as he blocked Aaron's path.

"You're going to vouch for me." He said to Aaron.

Aaron was surprised at the tone of Williams's voice.

It seemed to be filled with desperation, and Aaron realised he had all the power over William.

"And, why should I do that?" Replied Aaron.

"Now out of the way please."

"You're going to do it because If you do, I agree to let you live normally here." Stated William threw clenched teeth.

"Well, what are you going to do about it."

Answered Aaron.

"It's not like you can beat me up again, if the school found out you would be expelled for sure!"

"Damn brat!" Mumbled William.

"I will make your life here a living hell if you don't."

"Ha!" Said Aaron.

"Sure you will."

"Now if you will excuse me, I have to head to my algebra class."

William did nothing to stop Aaron anymore.

He seemingly excepted his fate, at least it seemed like that, until it was time for the hearing.

"Alright." Said Mrs. Vivian.

"You three were involved in a little skirmish yesterday."

"Now, there are a lot of contradicting information between you three and I want to make sure the right person is punished." She said to the trio.

"Now, Mr Mcalister, tell me your point of view."

"Long story short, I saw her picking on the kid, and I jumped in and tried to help him." Started off William.

"I tried to de-escalate the situation but, she threw down the kid and hit me in the face."

"And that's my end of this thing." Finished William.

"Ok" stated Mrs. Vivian.

"Now, Ms. Valentine, it's your turn."

"Well, I noticed William and a gang of his beating up Aaron."

Started Natsuko to Mrs. Vivian.

"So I jumped in."

"I told him to put the Aaron down, and he didn't, so I hit him."

"Ok, interesting." Said Mrs. Vivian.

"Now, Mr. Lancaster, who's story do you agree with?"

"Well, I was borderline unconscious during the whole situation." Started Aaron.

"But, I Remember hearing Netsuko's voice in the gym, and she was the one who I found in the nurse's office."

Ended Aaron.

"Very well, I see no need of continuing this investigation." Stated Mrs. Vivian.

"Mr. McAllister, I am very disappointed in you."

"You shall receive a month's detention for the atrocities enacted on Aaron."

"As for you Mrs. Valentine, normally, I would give you a minor punishment as well, but you did this in the assistance of another student."

"You will be let off with a warning."

Mrs. Vivian ended.

"Wait! She hit me in the freaking face!!"

Yelled William.

"That HAS to count for something!"

"Your inability to handle defeat simply shows more of your increasing degrading character."

Answer Mrs. Vivian.

"The only thing keeping you from being expelled is your grade status, be grateful I only gave you detention!"

Aaron saw the anger bubbling up in the eyes of William, he knew that he might come back for some form of vengeance, but for the moment he was savoring his attacker's meltdown.

As the trio left the principal's office back out into the hall.

William said nothing coming out the office and simply ran off.

"Well, hopefully he learned his lesson." Said Netsuko.

"Ya." Answered Aaron.

"Well, I'm going to head home."

"Ok, cool. See you tomorrow" she replied.

Aaron arrived home to see both of his parents already home.

"How did work go dad?" He asked.

"It went well, I got to clock out earlier than usual, so that's nice." his father replied.

"Ya, it is!" Answer Aaron.

"Well, what are you starting around for!", his mom said.

"It's dinnertime!"

The three moved to the table, the meal was a nice warm chicken soup, that warmed the stomach and the soul, and the conversation, though fairly boring in a vacuum, felt fairly comforting to the boy, this was what he was used to in the home.

It just felt warm and comfy.

He went up to his room and flopped into his bed, with a tired smile across his face.
