Not long after he left the house, his phone rang again. This time it was Tiffany.
' Kol? Where are you off to? Is everything okay? You just drove out without informing me' she said sounding worried over the phone
' hey! don't get worried. I just have something really important to settle at the office. I'll be back before you know it' he said to her
' come on Kol! Are you seriously telling me that? It's not safe out there. And you didn't go with any bodyguard!' she half yelled
' I'm fine. I'm gonna be okay. I can take care of myself, I'm not a kid.' he said.
' but what if...' she tried saying but was interrupted
' no what ifs! I'm fine. Don't worry about me, just go to bed.' he said finally hanging up the phone
At the other end of the phone, Tiffany sighed holding her forehead with her palm. She had seen Kol leave, through her window which was just facing the gate. As soon as she saw him leave, she had gone downstairs to find out from the bodyguards where he went to but she got to find out that none of them went with him.
' how stubborn!' she mumbled with a frown as she placed a call to him immediately
And here he goes again, with that attitude. She just hoped he was fine. She stamped her foot on the ground knowing she couldn't do anything about it.
She walked into the house and resolved to wait for him till he returned. She walked towards the stairs and went to her room to continue with what she was doing.
Kol drove on the road, it wasn't lonely at all. A lot of cars were on the road. It didn't take long before he got to the park close to Amy's place. He met her sitting on a chaise lounge inside not too far from the entrance.
He pulled in and stopped the car. Amy got up and walked towards the driver's side the car immediately she saw that he arrived.
Kol opened the driver's door and stepped out shutting the door. As soon as Amy caught sight of him, she rushed forward and hugged him very tightly.
Kol hugged her back with a frown when he noticed she was sniffling. Seemed like she had teared up already.
' Amy what's wrong?' he asked still hugging her. He had always known Amy to be a strong lady ever since they were little. She never cried except what she was going through was completely unbearable. He was moved by her tears so he patted her back as he hugged her.
When she had calmed down, he pulled away from the hug. She wiped her tears immediately. She couldn't believe she had cried this much on his shoulders. His jacket was soaked with tears already.
' I'm sorry I ruined your jacket,' she said avoiding his gaze.
He brought his hand to her face and lifted her chin, staring into her eyes. The jacket wasn't an issue to him, he wanted to know what she had to say to him that got her that emotional.
' tell me what is going on.' he said to her still staring at her intently
She felt like melting under his gaze, because it was so intense. Her core tightened in response. Just his stare was enough to make her core burn with so much need.
She stared at his succulent reddish lips, and dear heavens! she felt like kissing them. She quickly turned her gaze away from him and looked downwards to avoid being carried away by her desires
' Amy are you sure you're alright?' Kol asked seeing that she just kept staring at him for more than a minute without saying a word.
' I'm sorry... I just feel like this is the last opportunity I've got to get this close to you.' she said finally finding her voice. She looked so miserable with her arms wrapped around herself.
' why is that?' he said not comprehending why she would say that
' because... because...' she stuttered unable to complete the sentence. The courage she had mustered was reducing drastically
' because... I'm... I'm in love with you' she said finally with all the courage she could muster.
' I know,' Kol replied shortly still staring at her
She looked at him, maintaining a steady eye contact. So he knew about this all these while? How come he never made mention of it to her? That explains why he never really wanted to spend much time with her these past months.
Kol used to have lunch with her every so often until some months back when it stopped suddenly. Whenever she called for lunch, he always claimed to be busy with one thing or the other. And here she was thinking he really was.
' I'm so dumb not to have noticed all these' she thought to herself
' was that why you seemed to be drifting farther away from me these months?' she asked staring at him with so much emotions in her eyes, he nodded slightly and she sighed inwards trying to fight back the tears that was threatening to pour out
' Amy, I care about you so much. And I didn't want you to get hurt. I figured you would get hurt even more if you got used to me always being around you.' he said using his hand to stroke his hair, not knowing what else to say to pacify her.
' I'm sorry I didn't tell you about it sooner. I didn't want to ruin our relationship.' she said, her lips were quivering
' It's just okay to bare your heart Amy. You didn't ruin anything,' he said with a sigh. At least, now he had been given the opportunity to come plain with how he felt about the whole thing and he appreciated that.
Amy didn't say anything because deep down in her heart, she knew this was bound to happen. She walked towards the chaise lounge and took a seat, Kol did same too beside her.
She didn't know how her heart was going to take this, she was grieving inwardly already. The man she had always loved didn't love her the same way, it hurt her so bad.
Kol was moved seeing her so hurt, he didn't know what else to do to make her feel any better. Right then, he knew the only way to heighten her spirit was to tell her he loved her in return. But he couldn't do that because he didn't feel the same way towards her.
' I'm sorry I don't feel the same way Amy. I love you so much, but not that way.' he said facing her, she just nodded slightly without saying a thing. She was extremely hurt beyond imagining, not being able to get the one person she had always wanted.
Kol just kept staring at her, he wanted to hug her to make her feel better but didn't know how to go about it. He almost scoffed seeing the way he was struggling to hug Amy.
'What changed?' he thought
All of a sudden, Amy leaned forward and captured his lips in hers as she kissed him passionately.
