2 years later:-
Rain watched her sister play with the drops of water that were, on the closed window of the car they were seated in. Today was going to be her first day with foster parents, before this Rain was confident, that the agency won't be able to find any guardian for them, but they did, and now she and her sister were both on the back seat of Madam. Odin's car, traveling to their new foster parents.
Rain knew that the parents who were about to take care of them were nice, actually, more than nice, they were awesome, but she was not ready to accept anyone after what she has been through, she turned towards the file, that was sticking out of Madam. Odin's bag and asked, "Can I have a look, once again?"
"oh, yes my child, why not." Mrs.Sally Odin replied with a soft smile, she knew how hard it could be for a child to move from home to home, and wanted to make the sisters as comfortable as she can.
"Thank you." Rain responded blankly while taking the file, the surface of the blue file was smooth with " Mr & Mrs. Finn" written in bold on the upper middle side of the file, she slowly opened it and found herself looking at a pretty lady with sky blue eyes and long blond hair, smiling with her hands tight around a man with deep brown eyes and brownish hair who was laughing while looking at her wife. They seem happy, Rain thought, why would they need me and my sister in their life.
She looked at her little sister who was still playing with the water drops, making an imaginary way for them to go down the window, Sophie was 12 now but she still was a daydreaming kid, this big bad world wasn't successful in tearing Sophie apart from her innocence and dreams, Rain loved to watch her sister playing or doing random stuff as this gives her the fake comfort of everything being normal.
The car slowly came to stop in front of a cozy looking house with a mowed front lawn and two figures sitting on the front step of the house, as soon as the car slowed down the lady with white summer full-length dress got up and nudge her husband on the shoulder and he too got up.
" Here goes nothing." Rain muttered to herself and get hold of Sophie's hand, sophies looked at her and rain smiled, "we are here, common."
Mrs.Finn was listening to slow soothing and reassuring words of her husband when she saw a white car turning towards her lane and slowing down and with an excited clasp of hands, she got up and nudge her husband to get up as well. After waiting nervously for about an hour on the porch steps of their house it was finally time to meet their children, their daughters, she was well aware, she might cry and took hold of her husband's hand and said, " I love you."
To which he said, " I know, and I love you more."
Two pretty girls, one with shoulder-length brown hair and hazel, upturned big eyes, with a pretty heart-shaped face and the other with big brown almond eyes, with brown chin-length hair and innocent oval face. They both were pretty in their way, and the Finn's got the shock on the first day of their visit to foster care, the two pretty girls they liked are sisters, and it was decided that they want both of them.
After multiples bonding sessions with two girls and many trust-building exercises, the parents and the girls were ready to be together. Although Rain, the big sister, didn't open up to them much they saw that she liked them and also was scared and lonely from inside.
After controlling herself for too long Mrs. Finn let herself free and ran and hugged Sophie as soon as she exited the car. Mr.Finn smiled and hugged Rain a little awkwardly.
" I see the parents were eager to meet the children" Madam. Odin chuckled to which Rain smiled a little, maybe this is going to be different, maybe they will love me and Sophie, ahh… don't… they are not your real parents, they won't love us, rain thought and the smile disappeared as soon as it came.
" Haha, yeah, come on inside." Mr.Finn replied chuckling as well.
While inside Rain tried to hold Sophie but as soon as Mrs.Finn asked Sophie, if she wanted to see her room, she escaped from Rain's hold and ran towards their new mother, leaving Rain alone. It was hard for Rain to see Sophie trust everyone still so easily, after everything that happened, after their parents being murdered, after ruthless and rude media attention, after their aunt abandoning them, after running away from a foster family, after being betrayed so many times and after losing many things. She hated it, she hated the fact that Sophie ran with Mrs.Finn upstairs while giggling, she hated to see Mr. Foster showing the house once again for quality and condition check of their foster care taker's satisfaction, she hated the fact that she was standing alone in the hall not knowing what to do next, and the most of all she hated that she is debating with herself on trusting life now.
Everything died her life, her happiness, her future, her dreams, and her existence with her mom and dad. She was living just for Sophie, if it wasn't for her then Rain was sure she would have killed herself with the same dagger that was stuck inside her mother's chest instead of calling the police, she hated life, and more than that she hated herself for staying alive.
Mr.Finn picked outside from the main hall and saw Rain standing in the hall/corridor, and gestured her kindly to come inside to which she just nodded still holding back tears. Madam. Odin looked more than happy today, she had been doing many things for her and her sister's welfare without demanding anything, and madam. Odin's smile made rain a little less sad. she sat beside her and didn't leave her side until she left while listening to the conversation and Sophie's giggles coming from upstairs.
While leaving madam asked Mr.Finn for some time alone with Rain and when Mr.Finn left she started, "Child, I know this is difficult but you need a proper home, education, and everything to live you know," Rain nodded and she continued more kindly, " Your mother and father are always going to be yours and no one is going to take their places but child, you need to see that there is still love and happiness in the world, and these two wants to give you everything they have, from love to luxury, and you sticking to my side and not talking to them will only make it worst for you, I saw you by me, I saw you only looking at papers, I know how difficult it is to move but let your self loose and be a child again, they are going to send you to high school in some days and send Sophie to her new school too. Enjoy your life child, maybe god has chosen some great things for you." she patted Rain on the head and left her alone on the lawn with teary eyes.
Seeing her guardian for 2 years go away made Rain more emotional than she could have imagined. Maybe God has chosen great things for you, these words were stuck in her head, Is it true, she thought. Then why would he take away her most loving parents, then why would he take away her happiness?
Still, in her thoughts, she turned to go inside and give this family a chance, and she saw a boy smiling at her from across the lawn standing in the shadow of the huge tress that was on her new neighbor's lawn.
She smiled back and turned to open the door when she heard a big whoosh, with a quick swirl she turned and looked for anything that could have made that noise while looking around she saw no one under the tree where the guy was standing.
"What are you looking for." To her surprise Mr.Finn had opened the front door and was just behind her, she turned and said nothing and smiled.
While going inside she looked back and saw nothing, but was sure she just saw her parents' killer on the lawn, because she was sure she heard the same whooshing noise of air or wind when her parents were murdered.
And she was scared as well as happy, that she is finally going to have her answer to whatever happened if that noise was near her.
Maybe, Madam Odin was right, maybe God has something reserved for her, thinking this she followed her new father towards the hall, from where she could hear, Sophie's soft chuckles and giggles coming from.
