After being questioned for 30 to 40 minutes, the officers decided that there was no point, the girl knew nothing about the incident and people doing it. With a tired look, they let Rain go.
"Thank god, I am off, no more problems from now on," She mutters, while walking down the hall, towards her locker, while walking, she slowly starts to recall all the things that happen today and the day before yesterday, " Last time I asked you for a full makeup kit, and you didn't grant me that, then why now god, why are you now making my wishes come true, agh, I guess it is my fault only, I asked for something exciting, I won't ever ask for anything."
Once she was in front of her locker, she quickly showed her books inside and just took the notebooks with her in her bag, and slammed the door of her locker. She was not in the mood of attending any lectures and was in her words giving herself a day off from school. In indirect words, she was bunking her classes.
She kicked the can aside, while exiting from the cafeteria door, "How about some ice cream?" she asked herself while moving towards the asking parlor that was on the opposite corner of the school. She loved this place, she met her first crush and her best friend here. If my wishes are coming true, then please god, let Cecilia come back, let her be with me, she thought.
If it wasn't for Cecilia, Rain could have never survived elementary school only, everyone was so mean and rude to her in her class, so she always used to sit in the corner near the window, on one of those bunking days of Rain, she met her crush, Matt and her sister Cecilia, she first wanted to get close to Cecilia so that she could get close to matt but then she grew close to Cecilia. Then one day after 3 years of friendship, Ceci"s parents decided to shift and that was the day Rain cried the most and was left alone in the jungle full of wild cats, first it was hard to survive but then she got used to being alone, as her thoughts were jumbling up in her head, she had entered the ice cream shop and had found herself sitting on the same spot where she usually sat, the day will end soon, she tried to soothe herself with this thought.
Holding her paper bird in her right hand, Sophie half walked half danced towards the front door of her school, she was positively sure that Rain would love the bird while daydreaming about things Sophie got out and was shocked to see none standing on the spot, where Rain usually waits for her.
Sophie's school was just on the side of Rain's school with just a small road which goes towards the parking dividing the school, as Sophie was too young to crossroads, Rain was usually the one who would always stand in front of Sophie's school with a bright smile for being with her till her parents come, and today she wasn't, pouting Sophie decided to wait a little more for her, she absent-mindedly starts to play with her hairs, she was scared.
With a jerk, Rain woke up from her sweet dream, without even thinking much she looked at the watch on the front wall and panicked. Oh my god, Sophie must be alone, I hope she is not crying. She ran from the ice cream shop towards her school and saw most of the students outside, and she started to run faster while looking for Sophie.
With eyes filled with tears and pouting lips, Sophie was standing just feet away from their usual spot. Rain crossed the road and bent down to hug her sister and said sorry, to which Sophie replied with I was afraid. Rain felt ashamed for leaving her sister afraid and lonely and also for eating ice cream alone. She wanted to make up for it, while rubbing tears off of Sophie's eyes, Rain asked, "Want some Ice cream?"
"Yea" Sophie's voice was still teary but still she tried to say.
"Okay, let's go." She took hold of Sophie's hand and crossed the road towards the shop and once after sitting in the shop texted their mother their destination.
After about 5 minutes their mother came to pick them up, entered the shop and ordered one chocolate chip ice cream, and sat beside Sophie.
"What did you do?" Rain was amazed about how her mother usually knows about things just by looking at their faces and replied innocently.
"Nothing, just bunk'd few classes and maybe slept and forgot about Sophie, and also fed her 2 ice cream cones."
"Great, sistering." her mother replied sarcastically to which she just laughed.
Rain and Sophie's Parents were always the best kind of parents, chill and cool, they were strict but only when we did things out of line or character, they always said growing up comes with a lot of adventure and we are no one to limit your adventure, and Rain loved that.
She was free to bunk but only twice a month. She was free to spend her money but needed to tell them what, she was free to party but she never did, she had the freedom that everyone wants and she was happy for that.
She smiled while looking at her mom and sister talking about how Sophie's little bird can open her wings, although they knew it was just Sophie's imagination, they still nodded in agreement. Rain loved her family and wanted nothing more than to just be normal and live the rest of her life like this, after yesterday she, even more, wanted to be nothing but a boring normal teen.
After more stories from Sophie and 10-15 minutes of ride they were home, as usual dad's car was in the parking space which means he is home and which also means they are going to get a bear hug from him, Rain liked the bear hug but not that much but Sophie loved it, so as usual Sophie ran towards the front door and shouted papa!
The door opened and as expected everyone was greeted with papa bear's breathtaking hug, giggling Sophie and Rain ran upstairs to change, while leaving their parents in each other's arm, Glancing back for a little Rain left while thinking, I want something like this, not bear hug but a romantic hug, ah god, make this one true if you can.
After a quick shower and change of clothes, Rain was standing in front of Sophie's room, " you done?"
"No, give me 5 minutes more."
"Sophie, open the door let me help you with whatever you are doing, I am hungry and mom will not give me food unless you come down."
"Oh, Hi Hungry, I am Sophie, give me some time"
She was about to reply when she heard someone knock on the door and her father's voice greeting them, it was too faint to hear but Rain was sure that his father, said something like, how come you are here or why are you here, she was thinking when the door in front of her opened and she saw Sophie dressed as a princess, and she laughed.
"What's this?" she giggled
"A dress for a princess, don't laugh," Sophie replied sharply
"Okay, okay but why?" Rain asked sweetly
"because a guy said I looked like one"
"Ohh rea…" Rain was about to say when she heard a loud whooshing noise like wind and then a thud and her mother's high-pitched scream. Her full body tensed, Sophie ran past her, but she couldn't do anything, she was scared, and then in the next second, she realized that Sophie ran past her and she ran behind her while running down the stairs she hear Sophie's voice saying, mamma?
And she knew they both were in trouble now, she ran downstairs and turned towards the kitchen and froze, Sophie was standing in front of the kitchen door, she slowly made her way towards the kitchen and peeked inside to see her mother on the floor with a dagger In her chest and a burn mark with a weird circular shape on her stomach and her dad's lifeless body beside her mother's with same burnt mark.
Though in shock, Rain tried to turn towards the phone in the hallway and called 911 with trembling hands while her eyes were going blurry now and then.
"911 What's your emergency?"
Her voice was not coming out, her tongue was stuck on something, her throat felt swollen, with an extreme effort she said, " My…Dad…Mom… came from school… Sophie…"
"Hey, Calm down child, what's your name? Where do you live, what happened?"
She felt dizzy, her head was spinning, where is Sophie, where is Sophie, her mind was asking her repeatedly, she tried to form words but could only say, " Come… E.Voltaire Ave… No.5237" and that was it for her, she was lost.
Sophie with a numb body and teary eyes saw her sister falling while she was hugging her father, and ran towards her sister.
