The next day went by and at night near 1 am, Sophie softly knocks on Rain's door, and after few seconds the door opened, Rain smiled at her sister and while holding each other's hand they both started moving down the stairs.
Rain was happy as Sophie was her greatest support ever and now she was in this with her, Sophie was anxious and happy at the same time as without ignoring her or pushing her Rain let her be a part of this meeting, she wanted to tell RAin about herself, she wanted to tell her sister that she was like mom, special, had powers. But that's what scared her, Sophie never saw Rain having some weird experiences or weird thing happening around her but as for Sophie, weird things usually happens only around her.
Like that one time when she was angry at her mom and was sweating like crazy and had to change her clothes 3-4 times that day until her mom came and cuddled with her, and then that one time when she accidentally burned her hands but was fine the next day without any redness.
If only mom would have been here to tell her what's wrong with her, should I tell Rain? She thought, but what if she didn't believe her, like that one time when they were standing in front of their school and Sophie was trying to tell Rain how she made another bird fly and Rain just laughed at her for being childish and mocked her continuously for that. Would she moke her now too, would she believe in her?
They both stepped outside and saw Steven emerging from the shadows, today there were chairs beside the swing which Rain and Sophie arranged for sitting.
Rain sat on the chair, Sophie beside her, and Steven decided to sit on the swing and started swinging.
Rain looked up at the night sky and Steven was swinging while staring in the distance, they both were awkward around each other as the hidden feelings inside both of them were spreading like a fire in the forest. But Sophie took no notice of that and started, "So, what are you telling us today?"
Steven thanked Sophie for breaking the silence and asking a question in his mind and replied to her with a smile, "About your parents."
Rain looked at him and Steven looked into her eye, they could have sat there for an hour like that without even speaking a word but Sophie couldn't, "Okay, I am ready, start." she replied.
Steven chuckled and Rain looked up again smiling while tears were starting to form in her eyes, finally, it was about mom and dad she thought.
"Your mom was one of us…" Steven began to which Rain keep looking at the night sky and the stars while hiding the memories that were flowing through her eyes and Sophie stared at him intensely to know more. "Your mom fell in love with your dad as she was visiting this world and as your dad was only human she was not allowed to take her to our world. So she made a sacrifice and decided to settle in the human world. Many people from our community each year does that, and that is normal for our government, we just need to go through a procedure that reduces your power to a minimum and makes you nearly human. And thats what your mother did."
Sophie slid near Rain while Rain sensing it holds her hand while never looking at anyone but the stars. Steven continued, "Maybe in her youth, she met with someone or made an enemy, we are not sure about that, but the person who is trying to kill her has powers and was at one point with her as a student in the academy she studied at. He is hiding somehow in the shadows. But is not near the house."
"Not near the house, why?" Sophie asked.
"Because he can see me and Ace always being around the house, I might just be a trainee but Ace is famous as someone you won't wanna mess with, and also he is alone thats why he is keeping his distance," he answered.
Rain rubbed her eyes and looked at him. "Should we go in the room and talk like Sophie said yesterday?"
"Yeah sure. But I can't teleport in the room that would make unnecessary noise, I'll have to climb up, I can climb in Sophie's room as the tree is near her window," He replied while looking at Sophie's window.
"Um, the nearest branch of the tree is at least 6-7 feet away, are you sure you can jump that big of a gap?" Sophie asked doubtingly.
"Yeah, positive," Steven replied while jumping down the swing, he removed the jacket he was wearing to reveal a tight white t-shirt that was hugging his muscled body perfectly, Rain diverted her gaze to Sophie and Steven chuckled noticing that.
"What's funny?" Sophie asked.
"Nothing is, go inside I will be in your room in no minute."
Sophie and Rain started to make their way towards the glass door, while Sophie opened the door and enter, Rain looked back without entering, Steven now on the big branch near Sophie's window was waiting for Rain to turn and look, smiled as soon as her eyes met with his and jumped towards the window and went like a cat directly inside without even a flinch.
Rain was amazed to see him staring back, she couldn't smile, she was just looking when he took a step back to jump, she was terrified, no human could make this jump possible, it was too far, but he leaped and was in the room through the window in a blink, he is not a human, after all, she thought and went inside while closing the door behind her.
Sophie was inside the room, she didn't wait for Rain to come, she wanted to see Steven jump inside, but as soon, as she opened the window, to her surprise, Steven was inside the room sitting on her bed while opening her diary, she quickly ran and snatched it out of his grip and he laughed, "I am not reading it, don't worry. I was just curious as I thought I saw my name in it."
"Yeah. It is a diary, and I was writing about what you said yesterday, don't touch it again." Sophie replied a little aggregated, Rain entered through the open door to see Steven laugh and Sophie huff, "What happened?" She asked.
"He tried to read my diary" Sophie accused.
"I didn't though, she snatched it from me," Steven defended while smirking.
"See, tell him not to do that again."
Rain looked at Sophie then at smirking Steven who was sitting on the bed, "You are 19 right? Why would you try to read a 12-year-old's diary?" she sarcastically asked.
"I want…" he looked at the sisters giggling, "Gosh, I won't read it, okay?"
After some time Steven was still on the bed, while Rain was sitting on the chair near the window and Sophie was sitting near the bathroom door opposite Steven on the bean bag.
"We think that he is trying to test you guys, and test your powers, we don't know the reasons for it now, and we are still searching, but just 3 days ago our orders were changed, from hiding from you and protecting you in silence it had now become, make you both aware of the danger, keep protecting and research for any clue," He told them while omitting the point where they had the order to know what their powers were.
"So what should we do?" Rain asked while Sophie was looking at the floor.
Sophie was thinking, should I tell them about what I can do, but… but what if it is just a coincidence, I can't do that now, I can't do anything after mom and dad died, what if everything was just a coincidence?
"Keep living as you are living, we are not supposed to spread information to your parents as well, so I will tell you guys not to. But you both will have to be in constant fight mode," he stated, his mind was running over the 4th order, the order of knowing their power, how can he do that? They both look normal, but in his childish crush he told Rain just a few days ago that she could be like us, but she shows no power, and Sophie, she is witty and smart but I am sure she has nothing like power in her to hide, how can he discover their power if they have any.
He got up and said it was time to leave as it was 2;30 already, without even waiting for any reply he jumped out of the window and landed perfectly on the ground.
Sophie ran behind him and both Rain and Sophie look down to see him, he was fine, Rain thought, he is making her feel more like a wolf in the body of a man than a human.
Steven turned waved and ran towards the fence, while still thinking of the time Ace told him, there was only a 10% probability that both the sisters have power, 20% that one of them have power, while there was a 90% chance that they both don't have any power.
