Mount moon was a mountain with interconnected caves and there were even parts of the mountain that were unexplored or hidden.
At the same time, there were a lot of rumors about the caves too.
One of those was of a giant moon stone which had fallen from space and landed right in the middle of Mount moon. It was also said that there's a Clefairy tribe guarding the moon stone and using it to further evolve.
Clefairy was a really rare fairy species which despite its cute appearance was rather strong and only a handful of trainers would be able to get their hands on one.
That's why many people, trainers and researchers, had ventured into Mount moon many times and had tried to find the location of the Clefairy tribe.
Alas, they were unsuccessful every single time.
Some of them had said that Mount moon was too complex to be fully explored and finding the Clefairy tribe was almost impossible. While others had just downright rejected the rumors, saying there's nothing like that.
There are even people who believed that the rumor about Moon stone and Clefairy was just made by the people of Pewter and Cerulean city.
Due to the arguments and speculations about it, the rumors about Mount moon have nearly died down and there were not many trainers who would try to venture deep inside the caves now.
It was too risky and as the caves were mostly enclosed, the danger was much greater.
That's why, most trainers will just take the usual, straight path to Cerulean city.
There's still a chance to encounter rock Pokemon in the official path, so trainers don't have to worry about not finding any new Pokemon on Mount moon.
They didn't need to take excessive risk this way.
Anyway, no one wanted to take a risk in which one can die by getting crushed by rocks.
Well, except for Arthur who had long strayed away from the official path. He was walking deeper and deeper into the interconnected caves, encountering Pokemon like Geodude and Graveler along the way.
He even saw some Diglett on his way.
'There's a lot of rock Pokemon here, but thankfully, they don't attack you for nothing.'
He thought as he glanced at a Geodude who was just sleeping on one side of the cave.
Rock Pokemon are generally simple minded and they love peace. Unless one bothers them, they won't try to attack.
Due to this simple mindedness of rock Pokemon, Arthur was able to avoid having battles for sometime. At least until he came face to face with a group of Zubats.
"Battt!"
'They are finally here.'
Arthur, who was anticipating a group of Zubats, thought as he stared at them.
The group of Zubats hovered in the air and there was a hostile feeling coming out of them.
Anyone who has played a Pokemon game knows that Zubats are one of the most annoying Pokemons. They are in every single cave and they would keep attacking you for no reason.
It was mainly due to how sensitive they are and they think of every uninvited presence as someone dangerous. That's why, it was really common to get attacked by Zubats in caves.
But due to this, their popularity had also died down a lot.
They don't look strong and few trainers want to catch a Zubat. But the truth was quite the opposite to it.
In reality, Zubats were quite strong. They don't have eyes, but they can see by using supersonic and they also evolve further into Golbat and then, Crobat.
In a way, they were the perfect Pokemon for a new trainer, especially because they are easy to tame. But Arthur was not interested in catching them.
What he wanted was to use them for Murkrow's training.
"Murkrow, come out."
Arthur called Murkrow out of his pokeball and he flew straight in front of him. Now that his wings were fully healed, he was able to fly and he also didn't look malnourished.
He was as healthy as he could get.
Although he was healed now, he was still lacking quite a lot compared to his other Pokemon. He was still just on level 8 and had a lot to catch up to.
Thankfully, he had a way to fight these annoying Zubats.
"Krow!"
Murkrow stared at the Zubats in front of him and his eyes glistened with fighting spirit.
Now that he was healed, he wanted to quickly build up his strength and get as strong as Arthur's other Pokemon. Arthur had already talked to him about it and now he was fully ready for his training.
'Let's check your status.'
Arthur focused on the Zubats and scanned one in the middle.

Like he had thought, the Zubats were fairly low level. It was a standard example of quantity over quality.
Zubats are born in hoards, but it was really rare for one of them to rise above the ranks and become a Golbat. If he had the right information, there were only three known Golbat in the entire Mount moon.
The rest were just low leveled Zubats.
But...
'It would still be hard for Murkrow to win against a group.'
Although Zubat had low levels, Murkrow had an even lower level than them. Moreover they have the advantage in their numbers.
Murkrow looked to be in high spirits, but it was hard to say whether he would be able to really win against Zubats. That's why Arthur had already planned something more.
"Charmander, come out to assist Murkrow."
He called out Charmander from his pokeball.
With Charmander at the backup, there was no need for Murkrow to be afraid of mere bats.
Like that, Murkrow's training and the annihilation of Zubats began.
