"Charmander, use flame burst on the Zubat that is in the centre. Murkrow, stand by and then, use wing attack!"

Arthur commanded both of his Pokemon and they carried out his commands with almost perfect coordination.

A stream of fire, red and orange in colour, burst out from Charmander's mouth and headed straight towards the Zubat who was flapping his wings to create gust.

Wind was not enough to stop the momentum of the fire and it directly burned Zubat's body. Small streaks of fire also burst out after the attack hit Zubat.

That was the special ability of Flame burst and it burned the wings of the Zubats that were standing close.

After that, everything was on Murkrow.

He gathered energy in his wings and they were shown with a blue light. Then, he rushed towards Zubat who was on the verge of dying.

The Zubat was not able to predict his movements and directly crashed into the ground after the impact, giving Murkrow another level up.

'Murkrow would be able to get to level 15 by the evening.'

Arthur thought and cheered in his heart.

As Murkrow was really low leveled, it was faster to level up as the required experience for each level wasn't much.

They were fighting together for a while now and it didn't take too much time for both of his Pokemon to get used to each other's battle styles. It was easier cause Murkrow and Charmander already had a rather good relationship.

It was because Charmander was the one to save Murkrow from the Pinsir and their relationship was like an older brother and a younger one after that.

That's why, it didn't take much effort to create a harmony between his two Pokemon.

Strictly speaking, it was more like Charmander assisting Murkrow than battling together.

Their plan was rather simple.

Charmander will attack first and lower the health of the Zubats. Then, Murkrow will finish them off when Zubats would be in a near death state, getting the last hit.

As the one getting the last hit got the most experience, Murkrow was quickly able to level up through this strategy.

Charmander was also not losing out much cause he was still receiving a little amount of combat experience and he was more than happy to help out Murkrow in the first place.

Because of this, Arthur was able to sweep through an entire cave of Zubats in just a day and this was only 10 percent of their total population that was living on Mount moon.

It was also because of their massive numbers that Arthur had to retreat several times during his training.

His plan was simple and effective, but it was not easy to execute at all.

It just looked easy.

As he moved ahead in the cave, the number of Zubats kept increasing and despite their low levels, it was not easy to take them down all at once.

It was really hard to attack and defend against moves like curse which can put a deadly curse on the opponent and gust which was like an area of effect move in RPG terms.

Some of the Zubats even knew poison stings which gave the possibility of his Pokemon getting poisoned.

Truthfully, the reason why the training was even succeeding at a quick pace was because of Arthur.

Before coming to Mount moon, he had analysed the common attack patterns of Zubats and the gestures they show before using an attack.

For example, the trajectory when they use quick attack was really simple and can be easily dodged. And Zubats would flap their wings twice before using gust.

These gestures were really small and unnoticeable, but Arthur had memorized them, making it easy to give appropriate commands even before the attack came.

At the same time, he was also checking out for new attack patterns and noting them down.

When his Pokemon would look tired, he would give them berries and potions. Because of all this, the speed at which the training was going just kept increasing.

Even if the number of Zubats increased, Murkrow and Charmander were just too used to them to worry.

They swiftly carried out the commands and at the end of the day, Murkrow was already level 15 and even Charmander had gained two levels

"Let's stop and end today's training. You two have done enough. Now take a rest."

At the end of the day, when Arthur said that, both Murkrow and Charmander took a sigh of relief.

"Krow!"

"Charr!"

They were tired after battling Zubats for the whole day and just pummeled to the ground when Arthur called the end of the training.

The next thing to do was to cook food and finally go to sleep.

Arthur found a nice, quiet corner in the cave and sat down. Then, he started a fire with Charmander's help and started cooking. Good food was necessary for Pokemon training and Arthur firmly believed this.

As the food was being ready, he glanced at Charmander and said.

"Charmander, you should try to regulate the fire energy in your body."

"Charr?"

Charmander raised his head hearing that and looked at Arthur.

"Your evolution is really close. It can happen any moment. Until now, I have told you to control the energy inside your body. But I think that you are finally ready now."

Arthur had earlier told Charmander to wait because he wanted him to reach his full potential as a Charmander first before evolving.

Now, he was sure after today's training that Charmander had really reached the peak of his first stage.

Not evolving now would only backfire.

When Charmander heard that, his whole face beamed with joy.

The primary goal of Charmander was to get more and more stronger, and eventually become a Charizard. But before that, there was a middle stage and that was Charmeleon.

He was still rather excited to evolve into a more stronger version of himself and he couldn't wait to finally experience the wonders of evolution.

That night, Charmander stayed awake till late and meditated.

He could feel the bubbling fire energy in his body with a bit of dragon energy mixed in with it.

He calmed down his breathing like Arthur had told him and moved the fire energy all over his body. He continued to do that until he was too exhausted.

Staring at Charmander, Arthur silently thought.

'He will evolve after another level up.'
