Chereads / The Trinity System / Chapter 2 - Trinity

Chapter 2 - Trinity

Trinity Academy's Dean's Office….

An older man with a white beard and white-furred wolf ears in a brown suit sat in a black leather chair behind a red oak wood desk. He looked at the four girls in front of them, three of whom could barely stand and one who only had a swollen lip and a black eye, and sighed. This man was the dean of Trinity Academy, Dean Chen Li, Dean Li for short.

"Fate… Fate… Fate..." Dean Li tapped his fingers on his desk and looked at the girl who stood there with her hands behind her back and a smile on her face. He actually had no idea why this girl was even in his school. She had no system at all and was nothing but a failure, a normal human. But here she was for the fifth time this month, standing in front of him with minimal wounds while the others behind her were barely standing. If it were not for the fact that he was forced to take her in by the higher-ups, he would not even have let this failure on to his academy grounds! What made things worse was that she couldn't even be punished due to the school rules!

Fights like this were common, but he couldn't understand it. The first day Fate arrived, a level five tried to assault her, and she beat him so bad that when his mother showed up, she didn't even recognize him. Then it was a level six, a level two, a level three, and now three level ones. He knew from day one this girl was going to be nothing but a headache! But still, he had to give it to the girl that her fighting ability was excellent.

"Explanation?" Dean Li asked as he looked at Fate.

"All I did was try to take a piss. Who knew these girls were perverts and wanted to steal my panties? I mean, I am poor; I only have a few pairs. The ones I am wearing now probably stink since I haven't changed them for a fe..."

"Enough! Enough! Stop with the bullshit. Tell me what happened." Dean Li quickly cut Fate off. The same thing always happened; he would ask for an explanation, and she would say some bullshit to dig even deeper into the ones she beat up.

Fate looked back at the three girls, who all instantly flinched when she looked over at them and smiled. "Should I tell him the truth about how I was minding my own business, washing my hands in the girls' bathroom when you three came in and pushed me to the floor, how you even threaten to use your ability on me? Or should I tell him a lie?"

The three girls felt so angered they really wanted to rip Fate to pieces! 'You already said it all out loud! What do you mean should you tell him a lie!?' Fate's ability to anger people to death could be an ability on its own.

"Alright! I know what happened. Fate, go back to class! You three! I suggest you learn how to fight before trying to bully someone. Get out of my office!" Fate heard Dean Li and let out a sigh.

Just like the others, there was no punishment. The only time someone got punished in this school would be for sexual assault, like the first kid who tried to molest her and was beaten. As long as the person was not killed, you could beat someone half-dead, and no one would get in trouble. The academy had many people with healing abilities, so even if you lost a limb, it could be recovered. This was the reality of this new world.

Strong families produced strong trinities. This means not every person started off the same. Some people had some extra boosted stats like strength or magic based on their DNA makeup, which created very powerful families after a few generations. As your level rises, so do your stats. And having an extra few stats more than the person next to you can always give you an advantage later on.

As to why Fate was able to fight a level six even though she was a normal human, that was mainly due to her knowing how to fight compared to these kids who lived easy lives under the care of their rich parents, if she were to face a level two who knew how to fight, she would instantly lose. Even a level one with boosted stats would easily beat Fate if they had fighting experience. This did not mean Fate would give in to such people. She had been fighting for too long to make it on her own to give in to her mother's demands or to any trinity, for that matter.

Fate walked back into class with her injuries, causing her classmates to begin to whisper to one another. It was not until the three girls who she beat walked in did the class explode in disbelief. "Haha! Look at them; they lost to the failure!"

"They even dared to return to class after being beaten by a normal human!"

"If I were them, I would kill myself!"

"And to think I used to think they were cute."

Fate knew the whole class knew about the girls' plans to teach her a lesson. As she sat down, she even saw some passing money around. 'Seems they even bet on the winner. Well too bad for those fools who bet against me. But...'

Fate could feel many hateful eyes all trained on her. This was also something that was normal for her. Compared to the crazy eyes of her mother, this was nothing. She ignored them all and laid her head down as she waited for the teacher to walk in. School had started a month ago, and all they had gone over thus far was the basics. Fate had already pounded all these things into her head as she grew up. Basically, things were not always like how they are today.

A few hundred years ago, an experiment went wrong, causing a massive explosion. Although the explosion was not considered a big deal, it was what was sent into the atmosphere that caused an issue.

A special kind of nanobot was born and released into the air. At first, scientists and the world's governments took no notice of it. It was more that they did not have the technology to detect what was sent into the air at the time than not taking notice. But then things began to change. When a person turned sixteen, a system appeared, giving them the ability to level up and gain certain abilities. At first, the world governments tried to cover it up. But due to the great number of children turning sixteen-year-olds around the world every day, there was just no way to keep things under wraps. Instead, they began gathering these new super-powered humans into special schools to test their abilities and train them how to fight. Why fight? The answer to that question was simple... war…

This newfound power was quickly turned into a weapon, and after many years of continuous wars, the land they used to live on was mostly destroyed. With resources becoming scarce due to the destruction of the lands, a treaty was signed, and a new world government was created. Officially stopping all wars around the world.

Peace reigned, and as the years passed, the new breed of humans with a system became the dominant species on the planet, becoming known as Trinities. Normal humans became a minority and were treated as human failures. Laws quickly began to change and discrimination against these failures, normal humans, gained a huge backing from the higher-ups causing humans to live in desolated areas of the world outside the city walls. This created large slums where crime and violence ran rampant.

Earth's technology also progressed at an almost godly speed, and in no time at all, humans began building spaceships that could bend space-time itself, instantly moving through space to an inputted destination to explore different worlds. They invented a portal system connecting any colonized planets to each other making ships obsolete and only needed for reaching new worlds.

What was called a normal human became rare, but there were still children born who, when reaching the age of sixteen, did not get a system. They were then disowned and tossed out to the slums to fend for themselves as they were of no use to society anymore. Sometimes able-bodied failures, as they were called were rounded up and sent to other worlds to "scout" out the surroundings. It was very rare for anyone to come back alive. Some of the many planets that were colonized were filled with monsters and or other races. As time passed, the human gene pool became so diluted that you really couldn't call anyone outside the slums a human any longer. This was especially so for trinities since they could evolve.

Each system allowed a person to evolve, and along with it, they could choose a higher form of existence or race, if you will, to turn into. Now Earth was populated by new races collectively called Trinities, based on the name of the system. What could only be seen in fantasy years ago was now a reality with dog, cat, dragon, elf, and many other kinds of humanoids walking around.

Fate raised her head when she heard the classroom door open once more, and a long red-haired woman wearing a black pencil skirt suit walked in and behind her were two men dressed in military uniforms. Although the woman looked very human, the long pointed ears told you she was not. She was an elf. The men behind her both had fox ears and fox tails. They stood next to her, one on each side of her as she looked at her students. When her eyes fell on the three girls who were just beaten by Fate, her gaze immediately went to Fate and frowned. She was a trinity with lots of pride. Seeing her own race being beaten so badly by a failure species did not sit well with her. Her name was Lilth.

Hiding her anger, Lilth cleared her throat: "We will all gather tomorrow morning to go on an excursion through one of the portals to one of the starter planets called Grolam. You will begin to learn how to fight monsters. Now I must warn you that Grolam is not fully explored, and only the areas with a boundary shield are safe. If you leave this area, your life is your own. The academy will not send people out to rescue you. These soldiers here will now explain things in more detail."
