Thorns and branches tore into Fate's skin as she continued to run. The slither behind her was doing its best to keep up with its large body. The only lucky thing happening to Fate at this time was the fact that the further in she went, the denser the jungle got. "Please just leave me alone!" Fate yelled out as she continued to run. The adrenaline in her body was the only thing keeping her going.
Her lungs hurt, and sweat dripped like a faucet from her hair. As the seconds and minutes passed, her speed began to slow down gradually until finally, she really could no longer run. Gasping for breath, she watched as the slither slowly made its way through the brush and stood in front of her sticking its long black forked tongue in and out of its wide mouth.
"If you think I am going to die without a fight, you are very wrong!" Fate gripped the knife in her hand so hard the whites of her knuckles were showing.
Every time the Slither took a step forward, Fate took a step back. One step, two steps, three steps, until finally the slither lunged forward. Its jaws open wide. Its breath and saliva sprayed everywhere as it roared. Fate braced herself for the impact as she readied her blade. "Come, you fucker!"
The two bodies collided and were both thrown back under the heavy weight and momentum of the slither. Fate's head was knocked for a loop, and it took a few seconds to get a grip on herself. When she did, she realized she was actually falling! "Can things get any worse!?"
Luckily she was not the only one panicking as the slither was also trying to get a foothold on the side of the cliff, not caring about even trying to eat Fate any longer. But Fate had other plans. She knew if she fell from this height, she would definitely die. She could see the ground down below, but just hitting something at this speed would definitely turn her into a pancake. She looked over at the slither struggling and came up with a plan. "Since your fat ass wanted to kill me, I will use you to cushion my fall!"
The Slither, who was clawing at the side of the cliff, had no time to sense any danger or be aware of its surroundings as Fate reached out and stabbed the knife down into its neck, making sure to lodge the blade in good. The stabbing pain caused the slither to roar out in pain and flop around mid-air. Fate gritted her teeth as her already battered body hit the cliffside a few times as she desperately held on for dear life. "Ahh!"
Fate's face paled when she saw the ground coming closer and closer. She braced herself as she used the cliff wall as a means to rotate the flailing slither, so it was below her right before they hit the ground!
*Bam!*
A loud bang was heard, and Fate felt the body underneath flatten before beginning to expand outwards. Luckily the slither was a mass of muscle, allowing for the impact to be almost fully absorbed by it, saving Fate any serious injury. A warm liquid spattered onto Fate's face, but the smile on her face could not be hidden when she realized she was still alive. "Haha! I survived!"
Fate slowly got up. Her entire body hurt from head to toe. She looked around carefully before turning her attention to the cliff wall. "No wonder the slither couldn't get a foothold. The whole wall is smooth and shiny. But to think I actually survived such a fall."
The area she was in had enough light that she could see her surroundings, and not far off to the side hidden between some trees, Fate caught sight of a cave entrance. "I hope it's not occupied."
Fate dragged her tired aching body towards the cave. Now more than anything, she wished she had the strength to make it to a water source. But in her current condition, there was just no way. She was already using the last of her strength to make it to the cave she had just spotted. She slowly pushed through the bushes in front of the cave and peered inside. Unfortunately, she was not able to see too far inside. "From the looks of it, I do not see any tracks, so it should be okay. Plus, it is much cooler inside..."
Taking a deep breath, Fate made her way inside the cave. After edging past the light that peered in, she found a large boulder on the side she could hide behind. Although she knew it would not do her any good since most monsters could sense the blood that was on her, she did not care. She was so exhausted that as soon as her butt hit the ground, her eyes slowly began to close….
The sound of the wind made a whistling sound as it passed the cave's entrance. Fate slowly opened her eyes and hissed in pain. But when she looked around, she saw that the whole place was now dark. "I must have slept until night time..." Fate muttered to herself.
*Clack, clack!* *Clack, clack!* *Clack, clack!* *Clack, clack!*
Fate heard a strange noise coming from deep within the cave. At first, she thought it was just the wind but after hearing it over and over and sounding as if it was getting closer and closer. Fate knew it was something else. 'Heh… Why do the gods hate me!?'
*CREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!*
A loud screech came from within the darkness of the cave. Fate gripped her knife, but before she could even react, a strange figure appeared in front of her. It stood on two legs and had four arms. Its face looked twisted out of shape and with long ears that protruded out of the side of its head, made it look like a failed science experiment. A putrid smell entered Fate's nose, making her want to vomit. She gagged a few times before composing herself. The monster had not yet tried to attack Fate. It seemed to be looking at her with a hint of curiosity.
It lifted its head and sniffed the air, and as it did, two glowing red eyes slowly opened. It turned its gaze onto Fate before hunching over and letting out another long screech that echoed throughout the cave.
*CREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!*
"Fuck me!" Fate yelled out as the strange monster jumped at her. Fate gritted her teeth and sucked up the pain as she quickly rolled to the side, trying to dodge its attack.
*Bam!*
A loud sound was heard as the rock on the cave wall and floor exploded, leaving a small crater. "Oh, Shit! Ouch, fuck! Ahh!" Fate did not know if she should be surprised or in pain. She knew she was too slow in dodging when she felt a sharp pain in the stomach area. She looked down to see a huge chunk of flesh was gone, and parts of her innards were visible to the naked eye.
The monster did not hesitate to strike again, but this time Fate could not move. She could only throw her hands up to try to protect herself but was still directly hit in the chest, causing a loud cracking sound to be heard as some of her ribs broke and stabbed right through her skin. Fate felt her breathing speed up as she gasped for air. Only one thought came to Fate's mind at this time. 'I am going to die!'
The monster let out another screech before its jaw seemed to unhinge from his face revealing rows upon rows of sharp teeth. Fate watched as the monster dived at her once again. She was in no position to move anymore. Not wanting to die without at least fighting back, Fate stabbed out with the knife in her hand directly into the monster's mouth.
A crunch was heard, and Fate let out a scream of pain. She pulled hard on her hand. She only felt something tear, and when she looked down to see, her hand was now completely missing from a little above the wrist down. In her shocked state, she did not realize the monster who had just removed her hand had fallen face first onto her lap. A metallic object was pointing out the top of its head. In her desperate attempt to fight back, she had stabbed her knife up through the brain of the monster from the inside of its mouth, losing her hand in the process.
At this time, Fate felt heavy. She felt so heavy she wanted to let everything go and end her pain and suffering. This feeling only lasted for a split second before she suddenly shouted: "No, I must live! I do not care how; I just want to live!"
Death was a scary thing, and Fate did not want to have any part of it. She wanted to achieve her goal of living a life free of her mother. She wanted to get revenge on the people who put her in this situation, to begin with. She wanted power! She wanted the power needed to break free from her horrid fate! "I want power! I want to live! I can't die like this!" Tears rolled down her cheeks as she looked down at her bloodied self. She knew with just one look she did not have much longer to live.

Fate was hearing the fuzzy messages in her head, and all of a sudden, it felt like every cell in her body was about to explode. She wanted to scream out but couldn't. She wanted to pass out from the pain but couldn't. She could only suffer pain that's worse than death. It was complete torture. She had no idea how long she spent dealing with the pain. It felt like years went by before it slowly began to subside.

Fate kept hearing the messages in her mind. Her breaths were getting longer and longer as it became harder to breathe.

"Heart Blood? Foreign Bacteria?" Fate was confused but looked at the creature still lying on her lap. Fate took a deep breath and reached down into the monster's mouth, and pulled out her knife. She did not know what exactly she was doing, but she only knew if this would allow her to live; she did not care about anything else.

"Fuck it!" Fate stabbed her knife into the monster's flesh and quickly cut away a huge chunk of it, revealing the bones inside. She no longer cared about anything anymore as she pushed her hand between the large space between the ribs and grabbed hold of the heart. She brought the putrid-smelling heart dripping in blood to her mouth and bit into it, squeezing the contents into her mouth and gulping it down.
