"Did one of you wrote this letter?" I asked with a smile while showing the letter.
That's when a girl came forward with a blush on her face and said.
"It's my confession."
Everyone in the corridor stood there and was watching the scene going on, I mean who won't be interested, in watching a drama. Well, I have to praise her bravery for coming forward.
"Thought so." I chuckled and tore the pieces into tiny pieces which can't be brought into one piece and thrown the pieces on her face saying.
"This is what you get for loving 'me'. If I find this trash in my locker again. I will make sure to tear you into these many pieces, understood." My voice was filled with anger.
I saw the girl's eyes filling with tears, not soon after tears started rolling down her eyes. She was looking at me and the remaining are giving me a death glare, such drama queens, ugh.
"Stop staring, take this trash and GET LOST," I shouted. The girls took her crying queen with them ran away, along with her the students who are watching started minding their own business.
I went towards my locker took the book I left and went straight into the classroom. I sat in my seat and started studying the topic teacher's gonna teach in the next period. Brutal rejection? I don't care but from that day, I got no letters in my locker that made me feel at ease.
I didn't have friends except one and never showed interest in group activities so I had so much free time than others. Instead of wasting it, I used it to study and that's what helped me to top the class every time. But every person has something they love, even after you determine not to love anything. Mine wasn't a living thing, it's the thing that rules the world 'Money'.
I grew up rich, but I wasn't rich. My dad promised my mum that he would take care of me and finance my education till I graduate and after that my life won't be the same as now and money is the only thing that can solve this problem. That's what my 10 years mind thought and I strongly believe. That made me a nerd when it comes to studies and a badass brutal rejecter when it comes to proposals.
When it came to mum, she never cared for me and she will never. how could she? She isn't getting time for herself from that self-sorrow. Even at the time when I decided to stay in school dorms, she didn't oppose instead she simply said "If staying away makes you happy. Do as you like.". I didn't put pressure on her words, it would only waste my time if I do. Even after going home on holidays I neither asked about her well-being nor she did. I know she would be fine doing her teacher work and spending dad's money.
Finally, my school life was over and for further studies, I have already decided the course I wanted to join and so was the University. I came home for the time gap. Dad used to call me every week on Saturday evening, right after he completes his work. Today is Saturday, I was in my room waiting for dad's call after having dinner. That's when dad called. I quickly answered the call.
"Hello, Kiet" Dad spoke.
"Hey, dad." I greeted.
"How are you, my son?" Dad asked.
"It's only been a week. What probably could have happened?. Anyway, I'm fine." I answered.
"I know it's just a week but a dad will always have concern for his child.".
'If you had that concern then you wouldn't leave me, dad.' That was what I thought. Dad was talking about something but I wasn't paying attention.
"Kiet? Are you there?" These words of dad brought me back from my thoughts.
"Yeah. I'm sorry, what were you saying?" I asked, clearing my throat.
"I was saying. I just saw your results." Dad answered.
"And???????"
"I'm proud of you Son. You topped in every subject Congratulations." Dad congratulated me.
"Thanks, Dad," I replied with a big smile. At least, one of my parents is proud to have me.
"How's your mum anyway?" He asked all of a sudden. My smile disappeared within no time and a frown came over.
"Why did you ask about her all of a sudden?" I asked.
"I just asked randomly," Dad said.
"If you wanna know about her, ask her yourself. Don't ever try to have a conversation about her with me." I said with a bit of an angry tone.
"Kiet, it's been 6 years. Are you still mad at her?" Dad asked.
"It's not anger, it's hatred. I hate her." I answered deepening the voice for the last sentence.
"Hate? Why?" Dad asked with doubtfulness in his voice.
"Because even after all these years she's still not over you. I hate her because she forgot that she has a son from the day she got divorced. She isn't like used to be, mum has changed, dad." I said with an angry tone and told him everything, I was holding back all these years.
"Still?" Dad asked with a shocked tone.
"Yes, she seems to be like that till she dies." I rolled my eyes.
"I'm sorry for everything son. Why don't you try talking to her? Even she's like that she still loves you." Dad suggested.
Talking to her? Huh, that's will only end up her crying. My anger started increasing even more, but I can't fight with dad over this, it's not his fault I ended up in this situation.
After knowing about my parents' divorce, I was at least happy thinking I had mum, but what I didn't realize, was the moment mum left dad's life she left mine too. Now, her life, every second of it is with regret. I tried my best to drag her in my life, but every time I try to she was still like a rock which I couldn't move. If she insists on leaving my life, who am I to stop her?
I was thinking all that when dad's words brought me back again.
"Kiet?" I shook my head and spoke.
"It's better if I not. If this what you are gonna talk then I would really like to end the call."
"Wait, hold on. I have something to talk to you about." Dad said.
"What is it?" I asked.
"Have you decided course you wanna join?" Dad asked.
"Business Administration," I replied.
"Good choice. What about the University then?" Dad asked again.
"Shinawatra. It's one of the top Universities best for my course." I replied.
"Shinawatra? Won't it be hard to get into that?" Dad asked
"Yes, but I will try my best," I answered.
"Good. There's something I want to offer you." Dad said.
"What's that?" I asked.
Dad took a deep breath before he spoke.
"Kiet, would you like to stay with me?"
"What?" I shouted in surprise.
"Would like to come to Singapore and stay with me?" Dad asked again.
"Yes." That was all I could answer from the excitement.
"But." That made my excitement come to a halt.
"But?" I asked when I thought dad was hesitating to speak up.
Dad exclaimed before speaking
"Kiet, listen. I really want to be with you and want to give you your rightful share in my wealth, but it could only happen if you graduate with a top score and get a job in any Multinational company."
" I don't understand. How this is all related to my studies?" I asked in confusion.
"I'm getting old, Kiet. You are my elder Son and I want you to have what you are rightful of. Legally you have every right on my property, but your mum...." I cut him before he can complete his sentence and speak.
"Your wife."
"Fine. I had a conversation with my wife about the 'Will' and when I mentioned you, she denied giving any part of the share to you. She said your brother....." I cut him again.
"Half-brother."
"Okkay. She said your half-brother is capable of running the company more than you. She even took all the legal rights on her son. If you do as I have said, I can show it as proof that you're much capable enough. So, it will help me in announcing you as the Next CEO of Wongsi Pvt Ltd." Dad explained.
"CEO?" I asked in surprise.
"Yes. After gaining experience, you will take over my business staying by my side in Singapore. Would you like to accept this offer son?" Dad asked.
"If it brings you to me, I will," I answered.
