The journey from the main residence to the secondary took two days.
This could have been halved, but the Kai old madam had informed me that to those dwelling within the empire, the Kai family must look weak.
The few days that I had been with this old--grandmother, I had been informed of the history of the Kai family. Actually, their family had been one of the first founding families, before, they had no desire for power and so simply served one that had no issue becoming a ruling class.
The Kai family was then given the title of Royal Duken; this is a title on the level of a royal descendant, like a Prince or Princess but still below the emperor.
The Kai family were humble at the time, mostly because they already had their own power, and that power was solely for the benefit of the Kai clan belonging to the first family.
The emperor did not know of this or many of the Kai family, because then they were small, merely four sons the patriarch and his wife.
Soon the empire expanded, it grew from a few hundred thousand to a million, years grew into decades, decades into half centuries, then centuries until they reached their thousandth year.
By then the Kai family had begun to decline, falling from a royal Duken to a simple Duke, still, the Kai family prospered, they were not a family who focused on wealth but the prosperity of those who served them.
The nobles saw that even though the Kai family had fallen, they still lived well, their people none starved.
Yet their people suffered, the empire itself was not as well off.
The emperor at the time, the fourth to rule became furious, he decided that since the land the Kai Duke family ruled were fertile he should take it and send them away outside the empire.
He had thought that the Kai family was selfish, because the other people suffered, yet, they lived well.
And so, the Kai family were stripped, and casted from the kingdom, labelled as greedy and selfish.
The Kai family had by then became a large family numbering over fifty.
Soon though through their journey, they dwindled, falling to forty, thirty and finally only ten.
With the remaining, they entered a small kingdom.
The remainder were furious, they had lost so much, wives, husbands and even children. The patriarch at the time decided to abide by their demands splitting the family. Ashamed the other families changed their names from Kai to another.
Then went their separate ways.
The Kai patriarch, wife and son continued, their life was not easy but slowly they made a place for themselves.
First, they built a grand home with several levels.
After, speaking with his wife they then went on to build a secondary home, the land was vast, at first it was dry and barren but soon after careful cultivation a generation later it was prosperous.
For the next few thousand years, they lived well in this kingdom but the Kai family only had one child and always male, it is only after the generation of old madam Kai she had the blessing to have two sons and a daughter.
They had though...
They had thought that finally the Kai family was blessed once more but they had died.
"How did they die grandmother?"
"Sigh, child, it doesn't matter now, what matters now is that our Kai family must all be extremely cautious. The power of the Kai family is great and that of my family as you can see."
"So grandmother, others have your power?"
I questioned looking at grandma, she smiled down at me and spoke in an endearing tone, "Little Ra, your power is unique as well. To my knowledge, no one else has this power, but I am sure they do have something similar to it. Like for example, our wristbands have a storage space, some are breathable while others are not. All of this depends on the price or the rank of the owner."
Tilting my head on a side I gazed up at the old air breather slightly confused.
"Grandma?"
"Little Ra, there is no need to think on those things. Now you are aware of our history and should now focus on staying alert."
Automatically I nodded, then replied softly.
"En, grandma, that means big brother must get stronger. I will help him become strong enough he will survive until he matures,"
The old meat smiled, I stared up at her noting that she seemed to look much younger and her vitality smelled richer.
When she spoke, her voice also seemed smoother and much more pleasing to the ears.
"En, what a good granddaughter,"
Of course, I have to be a good granddaughter, my thigh needs to be powerful so I can survive, I need to have him continue to grow strong and this old meat as well.
Pursing my lips.
So many things plagued my mind; I thought about what other plants on this world I could use to help them rank up at a steadier pace without pause.
Perhaps the next five ranks without pause?
I pursed my lips.
It seems the more I know the harder I realise it is to survive.
"Old madam, we should arrive at the secondary home in seven hours at this pace,"
"Mm,"
I looked up before standing, a servant helped me by grasping my much smaller hand, I ran to the side and looked outside seeing the towering buildings.
"This is the capital city, we will be passing through our home is a bit on the outskirts."
"It is crowded,"
"This is all cities,"
"Don't like," I announced, so many scents filtered through already they made my mouth water. Imagine if I go outside, I might be unable to restrain myself!
"Grandma, do we have to go out of our home?"
"No little Ra, I have thought about it, you are still too young. I will wait two years before introducing you to society as my adopted granddaughter. By then, you will have learned enough etiquette to survive among those who would have dark thoughts. So little Ra you must learn well within these two years."
"En, grandmother, this granddaughter will."
Smiling, I continued to stare outside as the hover vehicle passed.
