Devastatingly, I was seating on one of the chairs in the living room. I didn't know what to do anymore and the woman suddenly stopped calling for help.
I was worthless, coward, and good for nothing. I wanted to help her. I wanted to save her from the brink of death, but how could I do that if I couldn't protect myself?
I thought it would be a perfect short vacation. That it would feel the same way as what I'd always felt every time we went somewhere away from the city.
Lisandro had promised that this place was safe for all of us. He promised that he would stay right by my side, yet he was nowhere to be found the moment I needed him.
Suddenly, I'd heard the door open. It wasn't loud enough, but I heard it anyway. Then footsteps began to echo that brought fear to my chest.
"L-Lisandro? Is that you?"
My voice cracked as I waited for an answer. Then the cold, howling wind blew up the white curtains that covered the gigantic windows around the living room.
It scared me, but I earned all my strengths and walked closer towards the door.
"Who's that?" I asked suspiciously.
However, no one answered almost catching me off my balance. If it was Lisandro, he should have at least answered me. He should have told me that everything would be fine and there's no need for me to worry this much.
Nevertheless, the intruder's footsteps became louder and closer to the living area. It terrified me as I didn't know every secret room in this house.
"Lisandro, please come home now! I need you! I badly need you."
Despite the heartbreaking moment of my life, there was only one person that I wanted to see before my death. If it was the right time, then I didn't have another choice, but to accept my faith.
Right that moment, I closed my eyes as I stood in the middle of the living room. My chest filled fear and a heavyweight that was hard to describe through words.
While I waited for the final judgment, I sensed there was someone right behind me. He wasn't alone as I felt their strong, terrifying presence.
It seemed different. Their smells, their presence, and unusual behavior that legendary creatures only possessed.
"Andy Carter." a man said.
"We have finally met each other in my territory. Such a pleasure for me, young lady!"
His voice sounded the same as the famous werewolf who existed in the world. A beast who looked for human flesh as they ate it mercilessly.
But it couldn't happen in modern times. Werewolves were only imaginary creatures and no one had ever proved their existence. No one had ever seen them devouring human flesh.
"W-who are you? H-how did you know my name?" I asked him as I didn't dare to open my eyes—not this scaring instant.
"I can smell you from a distance. Your blood and flesh are something magical that hypnotizes us all. It makes us addicted to your scent, like what you did to my half-brother!"
Wait! I couldn't understand his point. He accused me of a serious thing that I didn't know about.
Hypnotizing his brother? Who? And why would I do that to a man who I'd never seen before?
"Don't deny it! Do not lie to me, Andy Carter! I know you love your sister so much, and if you want to save her, stay away from Realm Family!"
Two, cold hands touched my face. It terrified me, but I chose to be firm. I must not let him devour my faith and replace it with fear.
I must fight this feeling that slowly killed the only hope in my heart.
"No! You are only a dream, the worst nightmare! In the name of the creator, darkness shall be disappeared!"
With courage and a little hope, I tried to push them away from me. They couldn't hurt me as I declaimed the powerful prayer that my grandmother taught me.
There was an expectation in me, but everything fell apart when a burst of loud, infernal laughter sounded around. I could feel how the cold wind touched my skin and left it horrified.
His presence became stronger and there was nothing left in me. I did already what supposed to do. I'd prayed, I hoped, and gripped on that little thing that Lisandro would come and save me.
Am I only waiting for nothing? Am I truly have a knight shining armor who was just one call away? But if it was true, then where did Lisandro go with his parents?
Where I could find him?
"He's not coming back home to save you. Lisandro together with his parents must be searching for their new victims. Do you know what they're looking for, huh?" he asked as he aggressively grasped my arms.
It was painful as it nearly broke my bones into pieces. I'd tried to push him away and let go of me, but it didn't change even a small thing.
He was strong that could kill me at the moment.
"ANSWER ME!" he shouted at me.
It shocked me and I hoped he would just disappear like a painful memory.
Until tears flowed into my cheeks, telling me to be strong. Despite his dominance, I kept my eyes closed or he would hypnotize me. That thing shouldn't happen—never!
"I don't know what you're talking about! Lisandro is not a monster! He's not going to hurt anyone, not this time!"
"How can you say that? Drinking humans' blood is our nature and no one can't stop us! You can't stop us and you can't change the truth!"
At that moment, I was slapped by the reality that Lisandro and his family weren't human beings. They were werewolves who needed flesh to live longer.
But there was still one thing that confused me. Why does he look different than Lisandro? If he was looking for both blood and flesh then there was a big possibility that rumors were all true? That they were half werewolves and half vampires too.
No! It can't be!
It was truly hard to accept it, but I promised him that I would keep it a secret until the end of the contract. That I would be a loyal and faithful servant to him.
I then sighed deeply, opened my eyes courageously, and faced the jaw-dropping man in front of me.
His eyes seemed like a carbon copy of Lisandro. They have the same nose, thick eyebrows, but their lips differed from each other.
But it didn't fascinate me. It felt like I was staring at an ordinary human being with those burning, golden-brown eyes.
"You can't stop us either," I said and smiled at him that he would never forget forever.
