Inhale, exhale, things would be better if I explained my side. I must convince Lisandro that nothing happened between me and his arrogant brother.
I didn't even know his name and I'm not interested in him, as well.
"You're doomed now, Andy Carter. My brother saw us kissing, what perfect timing!" he teased me, but it wasn't important at all.
Before I followed Lisandro's order, I took a deep breath and fearfully walked into my room. It was found upstairs. How I wish I could use the elevator.
I was thinking of a better explanation when the arrogant man blocked my way. He grinned as he caressed his adorable chin.
He said, "Don't obey him. He's not worth it, I am telling you."
I heard it, but I didn't want to waste my time arguing with an arrogant man like him. He's not worth my time and saliva either.
At that moment, I continued to walk into the breathtaking staircase. He tried to get my attention, but nothing happened. Ignoring him was the best way until he gave up and stay away from me—for everyone's peace of mind.
Until I stepped into the second floor of the house, I stopped the moment I'd noticed the gigantic photographs that were hung on the wall.
It was five photographs that consisted of the Realm Family. From left to write; Mr. Realm, his wife, Laura, and beside her was Lisandro and his half-blood brother. In the middle was their family picture that was probably taken a long time ago.
But their faces didn't change at all. Lisandro looked like an ageless man that only proved one thing—he was a werewolf. They were all dangerous beasts.
As I was stunned by their timeless looks, the man beside him cleared his throat.
He said, "That was taken during my ninety-ninth birthday."
Ninety-ninth birthday? I almost fainted as I couldn't believe a ninety-nine man looked like a nineteen-year-old man.
I sighed in disbelief as I wished, I could live longer like them.
However, I noticed something strange in their family picture. I didn't understand why Lisandro's mother accepted her husband's illegitimate son? She even included him in their family picture without a trace of disgrace.
My head suddenly spun around after I blinked my eyes. Perhaps it was because of fear.
"W-wait," I said as I held my head tight.
"You look paled!" he replied.
He must be right. But I wanted Lisandro's help. I didn't want to cause another trouble that would only disappoint him and his parents.
We came for a visit. To convince his mother that he'd finally found the woman who will be forever in his side. That she should not look for a woman anymore as he would never be with someone else right now.
But my body gave up suddenly until I was caught off guard and fell to the floor. I wondered why I didn't feel the pain in my back.
I then opened my eyes and the sight of him made my heart like a wild animal. It beat too fast as it gave butterflies in my stomach.
"L-Lisandro!" I said quietly.
I smiled despite the pain inside of my head. Through my peripheral vision, I saw his brother watching us behind. He didn't say a word nor cause trouble while Lisandro stopped me from falling.
He sighed and said, "I told you to go back to your room! Look what just happened because you disobeyed my orders!"
It was the first time he'd ever shouted at me. My eyes were stuck at his burning face because of disappointments. The sweetness in his eyes had vanished as it was being devoured by anger.
Did I committed a sin for him to be cold towards me? Do I have no right to explain my side before he burst into anger childishly?
We weren't teenagers anymore. He knew what to do even he was a werewolf or what!
"I'm sorry, but I think you'd go beyond the limit," I told him even it hurt me more than I thought.
Now I understood why people are afraid to fall in love. Not because of pain, but because of accusations without proof. Trust issues and honesty were the main reasons for sudden break-ups. I knew we were not in a relationship, but damn, I had feelings too.
Words could hurt my feelings. Accusations could deeply ruin my mind.
How could I convince a man who seemed narrow-minded? How would he understand the truth that his brother failed to kiss me earlier if he let anger control him?
It dismayed me. It was not the words I'd wanted him to say.
"If you don't want to hear my side, you shouldn't have and helped me!"
I pushed him away with no hesitation. I didn't know where my strengths came from, but I'd be able to free myself from his sweltering touch and gaze.
Without looking back at him, I walked away as I needed fresh air to breathe in.
Until my feet brought me to the serene part of the mansion which was the garden surrounded by colorful flowers. Somehow it lessened the heavy feeling in my chest as I seated at one of the benches found in the middle part of the flowers.
I then looked up above the starry night and wished I could bring back the time. I'd hoped I didn't wake up, then I shouldn't have heard the woman's scream in the woods.
This thing won't have happened as it was the reason for our misunderstanding.
"Huh, I shouldn't talk back at him in front of his brother."
With a regretful voice, I sighed and blamed myself. In the end, I'm the only one who was hurting inside. It hurt me a lot even though it was only 'a new task'.
Tears covered my weary eyes. I promised myself that I would not cry over small, nonsense things like this. But I couldn't help it! This unbearable feeling in my chest must disappear before it slowly ate my flesh and left me broken.
Just like that, I watched the stars as I cried in silence. Wishing that everything that made me sad may vanish.
