Chapter 16 - Ready for the Unseen Deadly Blade style

By the time Kazein walked up, he was already soaking by a hot spring. He could even move his body, to which, he was pretty sure many parts were broken.

"Ohoho you've woken up. Good, now how does the blind feel?" Alzak seemed to be just behind him.

"How? I believe my back was and even my limbs were broken due to the impact? How could I have healed in such short time? Even with the help of the demon's powers, I couldn't have healed in such short time." Kazein was right, without soul sacrifices, he shouldn't use the demon powers that much.

"Oh? Ah that! The spring is 1,000 meters below ground. It's very near the Earth's core, if you feel it later, it would really get hot. The water here is from the Earth, it's been refined through natural sieving. And it's quality is of the purest there is. And the fire here is the most stable there is, combine that with a pure source of water and you get pure warm water! Hahahaha!" Alzak laughed it off not telling Kazein everything.

"What is the natural mineral that's mixed in here? I know that it's not because of this pure water and stable fire." Kazein seemed anxious for an answer.

"Fine then, once you throw a hit on me once, I'll tell you."

This seemed pretty easy, but still, Kazein knew from earlier, let your guard down on Alzak and you'll likely lose your life.

"Sure, you better tell me." He agreed to Alzak's proposal. That night, while they are dinner.

"So, are you really blind?" Alzak asked Kazein.

"Yeah, some bastards burned my eyes, well, going completely blind was my fault though."

"Oh? Mine was gouged out, I was accused of killing a noble. I escaped, while being hunted down, I met the wind demon, he taught me the "Unseen Deadly Blade" style." Alzak replied.

"Seriously?! You're blind as well?! How did I not notice?" Kazein was shocked for he always thought Alzak could see.

"How could a blind man know another is blind until they bump into each other? You're not yet ready to learn the Unseen Deadly Blade. So, what magic can you use?"

"Nothing, I can't use any magic. If I have to fight bigger enemies, I have to rely on the demon's jumping ability, if I have to chase down an enemy, I have to rely on the demon powers." Kazein replied.

"Aya, you rely too much. Starting tomorrow, you can't use your contracted demon. You will train, as I have been taught to see what I could only feel."

The next day, Kazein didn't use any of his contracted demon powers. He had struggled to sense where Alzak was, whenever the wind blew more violently, he couldn't discern which was which. By nightfall, Kazein was worn out, he then, went on to soak at the springs.

"Aya, in the end you still had to rely on that."

"What do you think? If I used my powers I need to have a sacrifice to sooth my demon." Kazein replied.

"Fair enough."

Once again, the next day, Kazein couldn't land a hit, nor could he discern where Alzak was. For two months, this went on, Kazein finally figured out how to discern which was which. "Field!" That was what he had learned thanks to Alzak. By the next fight they had, Kazein found where Alzak was and waited, waited, and finally with timing. He caught Alzak's sword with his own, and with a quick retract, he slashed down with his sword. "Clang!!!" Metal hitting metal was heard. When Alzak, once again appeared, by his stomach, was his iron plate cut through. Just a little more and it would have cut his body.

"Hohoho! So you've finally figured it out! Took you long enough." Alzak laughed.

"Yeah, field. The ability to sense what is happening in your surroundings without having to see. The stronger it is, the more accurate your field is. I only got lucky my field was accurate." Kazein breathed a sigh of relief.

"With, this. You're half a step away from ready to learning the Unseen Deadly Blade style." Alzak seemed happy.

"Yeah. When I'm ready, I'll get far more stronger." Kazein was also happy. He felt that everything these past few months was worth it. And the biggest prize he got was, field. In a 5 meter radius, he could sense everything, he could feel a rock in his path, a man's true intentions, and aura's. By dividing them all into frequency's and density, he can figure it out.

The next day, however, Alzak didn't fight with him. He let Kanzei train his field, by getting used to every sound there is, or by touching everything there is. This time, he just got used to everything. And in a week's time, he was able to classify and identify anything Alzak threw at him. But he still wasn't ready, his state of mind wasn't. It was focused on power and revenge. So he instructed Kazein to meditate, which Kazein did so.

"Why does Alzak keep making me sit and empty my mind? If I don't get stronger, how can I get peace?" Kazein thought to himself. "What's worst, I can't seem to feel what he keeps on calling, the path."

For another month he kept trying to grasp a stable mind and feel the path, but many times over. He failed.

"This is bad, you still can't clear your mind. If you can't empty it out. How can you feel the path? You better throw away your worthless pride and revenge."

When Kazein heard this, he was angry. How could he possibly throw away his revenge? He gritted his teeth and left the cave. He went to cliff and sat down there.

"How could I possibly throw away my revenge? Before I get everything back, I won't be throwing it away." He sat there for quite some time. The winds blew and it was cool, just like the breeze by his home. He took this as a sign, he once again tried to meditate. This time, he was calm, he had nothing in mind except his home. After a while, he felt relaxed, he saw a dark room, with nothing there, it was only him. There was no light, just darkness.

"What is this place?" By the time he asked himself that, he was pulled out of the dark room. He figured it out, all he had to do was to be calm and a peaceful mind. He went back to Alzak, and he told him everything he felt and saw. Alzak was shocked to hear it. But in the end, he said one thing. "You are ready."
