"Yo, get your ass up." Darian said loudly, hovering over Leon who had previously been fast asleep.
Leon muttered a curse while slowly pulling himself up to a sitting position. "How the fuck did you get into my apartment?" He demanded with his eyes half closed, his voice raspy.
"That's not important." Darian muttered, leaning against the dresser, his eyes fixed on Leon's face.
"The hell it isn't." Leon glared at him, the sheets slid down to reveal his bare upper torso.
"Word came in, the coyotes are back." Darian said, tugging on the fingerless glove wrapped around his left hand.
Leon stopped scrubbing the sleep out of his eyes. "What? And you came to wake me up at the ass crack of dawn when it's not even my turn to patrol?" He half growled.
Darian just shrugged, unrepentant, this was the second time he was seeing Leon without any of his piercings, it was still odd. "So, let's go?" He offered like that was the most obvious thing that should be happening.
He barely dodged the pillow that came for his head with deadly precision, Leon tucking himself back into bed, a tad aggressively.
"No, fuck off, that's what."
It took a bit of an effort for Darian to keep a straight face, truly, he didn't have to bother Leon but fighting with the half asleep werewolf was the only thing he could stand to do with him that he actually had fun doing, plus the others couldn't keep up with him.
"I'll just hang around till you change your mind." He said calmly, settling in.
A vein popped on Leon's head but he also knew that Darian wasn't going to give up so it was with barely contained rage that he swept the sheets off his body and threw his legs over to the side.
"And you wonder why I keep trying to kill you when we spar." Leo growled under his breath.
Darian shrugged, unperturbed. "You still haven't yet, I'm going to take it as you don't really want to."
Leon gritted his teeth. "Someone's awfully optimistic this morning, now fuck off, let me get ready." He said coldly, jabbing a thumb in the direction of the door.
In a sleepy rage he bumped his way to the bathroom after Darian had made himself scarce, briefly he thought about locking the idiot out so he could continue his sleep but knowing Darian who just knew how to do things, he would find his way inside again.
He got ready in record time, sweeping out into his living room where Darian was still waiting, like he expected anything different, sitting quietly in the dim lighting of the room.
Darian still unsettled him sometimes, it was strange to meet someone who wasn't unfazed by him even after he had wiped the ground with their asses too many times to count, don't get him wrong, he was confident in his abilities, Darian just unsettled him.
"Let's go." Leon grouched, throwing his jacket over a shoulder, his damp hair partially obscuring his face.
They made their way silently down the stairs, the Pack was still mostly asleep which was good, neither of them particularly fancied socialising.
They got in Leon's truck quickly making their way to the south border, another Pack run was around the corner, they would have to be extra careful about exterminating the wild coyotes for the safety of the Pack.
Meanwhile at the south border, Luke was about to feed the Warrior that had been on lookout with him to the coyotes, he had been yammering nonstop.
"How many do you think are coming as backup? I hope it's a sizable number because there should be at least thirty of them and look at the sizes of the teeth on those mfs…"
Luke easily blocked him out, they had been tracking the coyotes for almost an hour now plus he had literally spent the entire night listening to the idiot ramble on and on, it was almost white noise now.
He was also aware of who would show up but he wasn't about to humor Clay, at least, he knew for sure that his talkative partner would can it. Leon and Darian had that effect on people.
For the umpteenth time, he checked his watch, how long ago was it that he had called Darian?
He knew for sure that Darian was the one on patrol today so it didn't hurt to call him a couple hours earlier, it also helped that Darian had responded immediately, he could count on him to always do that.
So his relief was boundless when he heard a familiar voice in his head, Clay wouldn't get fed to the coyotes this time.
It was Darian informing him that they were coming his way, that was fast.
He hadn't expected them to show up for quite a while, especially if Leon was coming along, another reason to respect Darian, no one else would have been able to get Leon out of bed unless he wanted to.
"Get ready, the Heads are on their way." He nudged Clay so that they could get on their feet from their crouching positions.
Clay's eyes widened in the darkness, his silver eyes gleaming, they were quite a distance away from the coyotes but they could still clearly tail the wandering animals.
"Wait, Heads? Both of them?" Clay asked nervously.
"Did I fucking stutter?" He glanced at him, already making a move to stand up.
"Wait!" Clay snagged his arm. "Is it just the both of them? Did you not tell them about the number of coyotes out here? Someone is going to get terribly hurt if…"
Luke shrugged him off at this point, the place was still deathly quiet save for the noise coming from him and Clay but he could sense the Heads closing up on them.
"Someone will get hurt alright." Luke muttered under his breath, peeved. "If you touch me again."
Out loud, he sighed. "We'll be fine, honestly I doubt we're even going to get to do anything."
Clay blinked at this, stunned. "What?"
Luke shrugged. "Doubt we can even keep up with them."
