"Why do I clearly remember the route to her house?" Hakai asked himself as he leaped from building to building. Hanging on a posted sign, he looked up and read an exciting word that caught his eyes. "Ramen?" He slowly murmured to himself. "Oh!" he screamed aloud as he swung himself up the sign. Standing on top, he finally realized why he felt more depleted than usual. "Food." He uttered to himself as he banged his fist against his resting palm. "I haven't eaten food in three days." He looked into the market, crammed with people, he muttered. "I wish I could just casually buy and eat in front of people."
Bam!
He leaped from the sign. Shaking it caught the attention of the bystanders.
"Why's the sign shaking?" A man asked as he pointed out to his group of friends.
"Don't mind it. It's old, probably." His friend reassured him.
"I know just the person to get food from," Hakai said to himself as he dashed through the building. Finally, reaching a residential area, where he knew leaping from house to house would be a hassle, he got down to the ground and began walking.
"I Uhh-" he said to himself as his nerves spiked. "What am I doing?" He screamed as he held his head in frustration. "How am I going to approach her?" He asked while shaking his head around, walking back and away from the direction of her house. "No, no. I need to go." He told himself as he felt negative energy close to her home. "That feeling..." He said to himself as he looked back with a determined look. "I can't be..." He said as his eyes flattered.
Hakai relaxed and arched himself forward. He was almost getting into a stance.
Foom!
His body flickered and disappeared from his spot. Running at subsonic speeds, he caught a glimpse of her residence and switched his footing to turn towards it. Feet away from the front gate, he jumped up into her window frame. Slowly and carefully opening it up, he found her tucked under the sheets and an evil spirit standing over her.
"What?" He asked himself as he drew his new Sacred Weapon.
With the plastic bag still in his hand that unsheathed the katana, he shouted the name that appeared in his mind, the one the heavens named the katana.
"Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi!" He shouted while unsheathing it fully. The new sacred weapon was a beautiful katana. An engraving on the blade by the handle read, "Valor." A word that indeed represented the values that Hakai upheld himself to. "It's so beautiful," He commented while lost in its magnificence. "Those cheeky bastards," Hakai said to himself, noticing another engraving as he turned the katana to its other side. "Destroyer." He read the Kanji engraving as the spirit took to his presence.
"Agh!" The spirit roared in agony. "S-he-see-me!" The phantom uttered slowly. The evil spirit, though evil, seemed only to seek attention in this world of misfortune. A world where they're known as pure evil, yet this spirit, seemed different. It was hurting, sad, and alone. No one took to its presence, and what caused it to despair and hunger to be perceived was finally realized by this little girl who took to its existence. "P-lease-kill-me..." The spirit slowly fell into its darkness. Accepting death at the hands of a God, the phantom seemed to seek shelter and acceptance.
Allowing himself to feel pity for such a creature, Hakai, with his Heavenly given ability. "Past vision." A tear trickled down his face. He saw into its past and relived the phantom worst nightmare, their creation, and thirst for negativity. He raised his Sacred Weapon and swung it with force. Then, cutting the spirit in half, he slowly uttered the charm.
"Evil spirits of darkness, created to destroy, vanish." Hakai chanted as a spell circle, and above it, a wheel of divine writing appeared, reducing the phantom to thin air. The spirit's pitiful existence vanished into thin air.
As he wiped away the tears, he made his way to the curled-up Mai. "Mai-San..." He slowly called out her name as she jumped in fear.
"Please, don't hurt me!" She shouted. She tensed up in the sheets.
"It's me, Hakai. It's okay now, your safe," Hakai reassured her as his newly acquired weapon went into his dimensional vault.
"Hakai..." She said while turning around to face him. Then, slowly peeking through the sheets, she ensured it was him before revealing her face. "I thought I was going to die." She said while sitting up in the bed. "I didn't mean to look the spirit in the eyes, but I did, and it noticed." She explained as her head felt a little fuzzy. "My head feels a little fuzzy." She told Hakai as she held her head.
"Hmm, common side effect when evil spirits feed on human emotions." He informed her as he took a seat on the ground.
"How did you know that I was in danger?" She asked Hakai, who found a little toy he started messing with.
"Well, I can sense negative energy and nearly pinpoint where they are. Humans, spirits, gods, angels, and evil entities all have different signatures, unique to their own. I can sense that and determine what they are, and sometimes how dangerous they can be." He explained to her as he messed with the toy doll.
"Awesome, she commented on his ability." While looking at a water cup beside her, she felt too tired to reach for it.
"How long was the spirit over you?" He asked her, making sure of any other possible side effects.
"I don't know, maybe around an hour." She said with a blank look.
"Here," Hakai said as he held out the cup.
"Thank you for saving me and for the water cup." She said to him while he sat back down.
"Oh, no worries, that's my job after all." He said with a smile. Then holding up the doll, he added. "I also came here to stalk you." He said with a soft and cute smile.
"Pfft!" She spat out the water in disbelief at his transparency.
"Is something wrong?" Hakai asked her while he placed his hands behind himself and bobbed around with joy beaming from him.
"Totally!" She screamed at him with anger. "You don't go around stalking others!" She said to him with an aggressive tone.
"You don't?" He stopped going from side to side and reacted with a confused expression.
"No, that's creepy!" She added as she placed the cup on her thighs. "But I guess you don't understand human customs." She said as her brows drew closer.
"Yeah, humans are weird." He said as he stood up. "Well, do you have any food? I'm hungry!" He asked her as he walked towards her door.
"Wait, Hakai," Mai shouted, placing away the cup and standing up from bed to follow him.
