Chapter 59 - Sunloft Ship

"All these ships look like they have been here for ages," Sydra said as he looked at the three ships in the harbor. One was a fancy yacht like a boat, the second was a traveling barge, and the last one was a galleon, with large white sails, and what used to be a white deck. The ship would have been beautiful if it had been taken care of, but at the moment it was close to sinking beneath the waves.

"I'll take the parts off the other two ships and fix this one up," Sydra said as he created an army of spiders to pull the ship out of the water and hold it in the air for him. Other than a large hole on the hull of the ship, it was pretty much intact and only needed cleanup, and to have some boards replaced here and there. The rudder also had to be replaced, but Sydra planned on taking the one from the yacht to fix that problem. Creating some straw golems to help out with the manual parts, Sydra gave them some tools and the order to remove all broken pieces of wood. Soon, all that was left of the galleon was the skeleton of a ship.

Climbing onto the deck of the yacht, Sydra began to pull planks of wood off it and toss them over to the other ship, where the straw golems would hammer them into the ship. Over time the ship regained her beauty, and Sydra decided to head into the cabin of the yacht to see if there was anything there.

"Hmm, these cushions look nice," Sydra said as he began to rip the red cushions off of their seats and place them into his Arbor Sanctum. Pulling off the third cushion, Sydra was surprised to find a white box beneath it. "I wonder what is inside here," Sydra said as he opened the box and peered at the contents. Rolling around inside the box was a crystal eye that seemed to be starting at Sydra no matter what way he turned it.

"What is the use of this thing?" Sandra wonders aloud as he holds the eye up to his eye and looks through it, but he is unable to see through it. Sighing, Sydra puts the glass eye back in the box and tucks it in his pocket.

Finishing up in the cabin, without finding any more items, Sydra leaves the yacht and heads over to the traveling barge. For the most part, the barge is empty, but Sydra did manage to find some more boxes of the green stone, as well as some paperwork that showed a map of the traveling routes the barge followed. The maps also had a detailed explanation of areas to avoid, and others that were good for trading at.

"This might be useful when we start traveling," Sydra said as he put away the map and went back to the deck. The galleon was almost sea-worthy, but it would need a little bit more work to make it look as good as it had before. As he jumped off the barge, Sydra saw a glimmer of light coming from the pile of wood that the straw golems and thrown away.

Landing on the ground with a thump, Sydra walked over to the pile and pulled out the piece of wood that had metal letters nailed onto it. After brushing away some of the grime that had collected on the letters Sydra was able to read what it said.

'Sunloft. Hmm, was that the name of the ship?' Sydra wonders as he pulls the letters off the broken piece of wood, before scraping the remaining grime off it so the letters looked like they had just come from the forge. Looking at the brand new ship, Sydra decides to nail the letters back on the hull of the ship.

"There we go," Sydra says as he steps back from the hull and looks at his handiwork. By now the straw golems had finished their work, and the spiders let the ship go back into the water. The Sunloft was now fixed, and Sydra planned on sailing it around the island.

Hoping on the galleon, Sydra ran across the deck to the wheel. Wrapping his hands around it, Sydra begins to blankly look around the harbor.

"How do I make this thing move?" Sydra wonders aloud as he lets go of the wheel and sits down. Entering his Arbor Sanctum, Sydra heads to his make-shift library to look at the books he has just received from the office. Most of the books he picked up were about boats, so one of them should tell him how to sail one.

"Ah, here it is, how to sail a galleon, for dummies," Sydra says as he picks up a book and flips it open. After reading through the first few pages, Sydra figures out he needs a crew to help him out. Creating a few more straw golems, Sydra returns to the ship and has them raise the sails. The area around the harbor acts as a launch point, by collecting the wind and redirecting towards the ship to push it out of the settlement. As the winds ruffle the sails, the ship begins gliding through the water, out of the harbor.

"Haha, that's better," Sydra says as he stands at the wheel, guiding the ship through the waves and around the island. Surfing along the waves, the ship begins to pick up speed, and Sydra quickly rounds the island heading in the direction of the group.

...

"Hey Siel, create another huge wave, I want to try surfing this time," Cidre yells as he picks up a flat board and runs into the water. Siel nods his head and swims deep beneath the surface, before torpedoing out and creating a humongous wave that lifts Cidre into the air. As Cidre surfs along the crest, he notices a large ship barrelling down towards them. 'Pirates?!' Cidre thinks as he falls off the board and into the water.

"Hey, are you okay?" Robert asks as Cidre runs out of the water, gasping for air.

"I think pirates are headed this way!" Cidre yells back as he runs to his clothes and throws them to the side, looking for his bow. "Crap, Sydra has all our weapons, and we don't know where he is right now," Cidre says as the others run up onto the beach, with Siel back in his human form.

"Should we hide on the island, and try to find Sydra?" Robert asks as he throws his shirt over his head, before grabbing his shoes. Since his feet are wet, the sand has stuck to them, and putting his shoes on becomes difficult.

"I think that might be the best idea, or I could transform back into a dragon and you could hide in my mouth," Siel says as throws his blue cloak over his shoulders. The others look at him for a second before shaking their heads.

"We should leave that as a last resort. I don't want to be accidentally swallowed," Erich says as he and the others begin running into the forest to find Sydra.

...

"Where are the others, I swear I just saw them," Sydra says as he looks at the beach where the group had just been. Having the straw golems retract the sails and throw the anchor over the side, Sydra grows his crystal wings and flies off the boat to search for the others.

Landing on the sandy beach, Sydra notices that the group must have run into the foliage in a hurry because there are multiple wide tracks headed in that direction. Thinking the others are playing a joke on him, Sydra takes back off into the skies and starts looking around the island for them.

...

"They have only sent one person out at the moment, but that person can fly so they are probably the scout. I can't see them well through all the branches, but I can tell they are headed in our direction. Should we take them out, it won't be long until they are on top of us?" Cidre asks as he watches someone flying through the sky a few hundred meters away from them.

"How do you propose we do that? We don't have any weapons, and they are flying too far away for us to hit with our powers," Robert says as he looks questioningly at the others.

"What if Cidre flies up there and knows them down to the ground, and we gang up on him here?" Erich asks, picking up a rock and tossing it between his hands.

"That's a good idea, I'll be right back!" Cidre says before throwing on the pendant and shooting up into the sky. The pendant no longer takes a moment to transform him, as it has already bonded with him.

...

"Why is Cidre flying straight towards with a stick in his hand?" Sydra wonders aloud as Cidre flies through the branches swinging a stick and yelling incoherently.

"I've got you now!" Cidre yells as he rushes toward Sydra, still not realizing it's him. As he gets a few meters closer, Cidre starts to feel that there is something familiar about the person, but then the person disappears from the spot in front of him.

'Bonk,' Sydra hits Cidre on the back of the head with his hand. "Who are you going to get with that stick?" Sydra asks as he pulls out a crystal sword.

"Oh, hey Sydra... I didn't know it was you?" Cidre asks before dropping back to the ground as fast as he can.
