Chapter 62 - Emporer Class Eel

Flying towards the clouds, Sydra crosses his arms across his chest and directs a portion of flame aura to the bottom of his feet to increase his speed. As the wind whips his hair around, Sydra locks on to one of the eels that had dipped out of the clouds. Before the eel can open its mouth to fire another beam, Sydra throws one of his daggers into its jaw.

'Shick,' The dagger slides between the eel's jaw and neck, causing the skin and muscles on the head to petrify. Before the eel can escape back into the clouds, its brain becomes affected and causes it to become limp in the air. Grabbing his dagger out of the eel's neck as it falls to the raging waves below, Sydra spins into the clouds and looks around.

"Where is Cidre?" Sydra wonders aloud as eels fly past him on all sides. Although it's difficult to see with the clouds obscuring most of his vision, Sydra can still see around five meters in every direction. 'If they were to fire an attack at me I should be able to dodge it, if only barely,' Sydra thinks as he begins moving through the clouds swiftly, piercing his daggers through another eel every few seconds.

After killing more than thirty eels, Sydra had expected to see a difference, but there seemed to be a never-ending stream of them. Sighing, Sydra activates his lightning aura and enhances his wings speed with it, while his fire aura continues to give him a boost. Shooting through the clouds, Sydra continues sending the eels to the sea below one after another.

'Boom!' Back on the deck of the ship, Robert is busy reloading the cannon as Erich looks to the sky with a cannonball in his hands. Since most of the eels falling from the sky are dead or on their way, Erich is looking for the ones that are still alive. Seeing one, Erich pulls back his arm and covers his palm with kinetic force.

As he whips the cannonball into the air, Erich releases the built-up kinetic force into it, causing a trail of wind to follow after it. The cannonball sails through the sky at an incredible speed, before slamming into the side of an eel that was trying to get back in the clouds. The impact causes the eel's side to crumble before it rips in two, and the cannonball begins descending to the sea.

"Oof," Cidre exclaims as he catches the cannonball before it can land in the water. The reason Cidre wasn't in the clouds with Sydra was that he wanted to make sure the cannonballs didn't miss their marks and hit either him or Sydra. Other than catching the cannonballs and returning them to Robert, Cidre was also finishing off any of the eels that escaped from Sydra.

Dropping the cannonball into the large crate next to Robert, Cidre flew back into the air and scouted the area for eels that we're still alive. Catching sight of one, Cidre shoots through the air and swings his sword at the eel's neck.

"Dang it, I missed!" Cidre shouts as the eel swerves out of the way, and flies back into the clouds. Since Cidre hasn't had much practice with ariel battles, most of his attacks so far had been missing. Seeing another eel flying difficulty through the air, as its tail had become stone, Cidre decides to try again. Arcing his sword through the air, Cidre swings it towards the eel's neck again, but he misses and the eels begin to escape from him.

'Scree!' The eel shrieks as it feels something pierce through its stomach and tightly hold it in place. Looking back, the eel sees a python starting it dead in the eyes as its jaw tightens, sending its teeth deeper into the eel to release a toxic venom. Taking advantage of the eel being unable to move, Cidre lops off its head with a swing of his sword.

As the headless body of the eel drops from the python's mouth, Cidre looks at it with interest. Until now, he hadn't been sure what the python was for, or if it did anything at all. However, after seeing the python attack the eel before it could escape, Cidre was starting to think there was more the python could do.

'Since it can inject its prey with venom, if I enhance it with my poison control will it be able to do more?' Cidre thinks as he flies after another cannonball Erich has thrown. After returning the cannonball to Robert, Cidre goes back into the clouds and decides to test his theory, and begins directing his poison aura towards the python.

Usually, people can't send their aura to other living things for them to use unless it was meant to do that like with a healing aura. However, the python and Cidre had a physical connection whenever he put on the pendant, so he was able to transfer his aura into the python. As the aura was sent into the python a purple needle began to grow out from beneath its mouth, and the distance the python could reach became longer as well.

Soon the python became twice as long as it used to be, from two meters to four. Waving in the air beside Cidre, the python looked around the sky, flickering its tongue in the wind. When Cidre noticed an eel heading back to the clouds, the python inhaled deeply before it shut its mouth. Confused, Cidre started heading towards the eel, but before he could try attacking it with his sword the python exhaled forcefully, and the purple needle shot out from its chin.

The needle shot through the sky, before plunging into the eel's skull and realizing toxins into its brain. Shocked, Cidre looked back at the python, who had another purple needle already poking out from its chin.

'So its chin acts as a blow dart gun, and when it exhales it can fire the toxic needle into its opponents,' Cidre thinks, before rushing off towards another eel that is trying to flee back to the clouds. Once again, the python pierces the toxic purple needle through the eel's brain, killing it instantly.

"With it focused on long-range attacks, I can keep my attention on the cannonballs. It also seems that both Robert and Erich have become accustomed to using the cannon, so things should begin to pick up now," Cidre says as he grabs another cannonball out of the air and sends it back to Robert.

...

"Things appear to be slowing down around the ship, and I've finally managed to thin out the eels up here," Sydra says as he pulls out his dagger from an eel's back while dodging an attack from another eel. Over the past few hours, Sydra has been flying back and forth in the clouds, killing as many of the eels as he could. Around an hour ago, Sydra had popped his head out of the clouds and saw Cidre flying around catching cannonballs while the python was attacking the eels.

'I don't see many left,' Sydra thinks as he flashes behind the eel that just attacked him and stabbed both its sides with his dagger. As he kicks it down to the sea, Sydra notices that the rest of the eels have begun to fly away. Thinking they are retreating, Sydra begins to chase after them, but as he goes a few meters through the air, he feels that something is off. Coming to a stop, Sydra looks around slowly, before he notices that the clouds around him have become much darker.

"Well... This won't be fun," Sydra says as he looks up and sees a large stomach floating in the air above him.

...

"Why do you think no more eels have fallen from the sky? Did Sydra finishes the last of them off?" Cidre asks as he lands on the deck and looks up art the clouds with the others. A few minutes have passed since the last eel fell from the sky, and everything has been quiet since.

"Maybe... We did fight off a lot of them, but if that is the case then why haven't Sydra returned yet?" Robert asks as he looks over at Erich and Cidre.

"Oh wait, I see him!" Erich exclaims as Sydra falls out the sky and shoots towards the boat in a hurry. "Hey, can you guys hear what he's yelling?" Erich asks when he notices that Sydra seems to be shouting at them and waving his arms wildly.

"Something about... Super eel... Run away... We will all die..." Cidre says as he catches what Sydra is saying through the wind. After a few seconds, everyone's faces become pale and they start running around the deck to get the ship moving again.

'Boom!' Sydra lands on the deck forcefully as the sails raise, billowing in the wind. Without saying anything, Sydra runs up to the wheel and begins sailing a fast as the ship can go, through the waves that are covered in large icebergs.

'Dang it, why can't this boat have a motor!' Sandra thinks as he looks behind them and sees a large blue fin dip out of the clouds. The fin is so large, that when it moves through the air it causes massive waves to form.

"Holy udder's of a cows mother, is that an Emporer class Glacier Hurrican Eel?! Why is it so big?" Cidre yells when he sees the fin dipping down again.
