Shit !
What the fuck just happened happened ?
Should I go after her ?
I should.
I should also apologize.
What the fuck is wrong with me ?
I ran out of the restaurant and looked around.
I couldn't see her anywhere. Obviously she knew this town better than me and must have disappeared somewhere so I couldn't find her.
Five minutes back.
She'd just screamed at me about ten minutes ago. I should have left but I couldn't bring myself to do that. I could've also said something but I couldn't do that either.
I should know my boundaries sometimes.
She'd just said she was fine, why did I insist ?
I wanted to apologise when she turned to look at me. Her piercing brown eyes were on me and I wanted to run away but then my legs were unable. My heart pumped really fast. She let out a heavy breath.
" Troy can you look at me " she said or more like commanded.
I deliberately turned to look at her.
And damn if I was at all mad at her I wasn't anymore.
" Look Troy, I'm really sorry. I shouldn't have shouted at you. Something was troubling me. "
she sighed again.
" Can I make it up to you " she touched my hand.
Electric pulse went from my hand to all parts of the body. A normal response to me when a girl touches me.
I nodded slowly.
She leaned towards me our eyes looked a dimpled smile on her face.
I probably misread the reaction. I leaned in and pecked her on the lips.
She let go of my hand and looked at me unbelievably shocked.
" What did you just do ? " she looked furious.
" I thought. . . "
" Fuck you Troy " she pushed me out of the way.
I was, confused. Did she not want me to kiss her, clearly not.
*****
Rays of sunlight passed through the window, which I hadn't drawn the curtains. They collided with my closed eyes and I turned but it didn't help they were allover my room. I slowly opened my eyes and the light hurt them. I yawned and then sat up on the bed.
I picked up my phone and checked the time 9:30am.
Sunday was a my. sleeping day how can I wake up at 9. I wondered.
I ate breakfast with mom, told her I would be in my room and came back to my room.
I didn't have any plans for the day I watched a movie instead.
" Troy, can you go and buy groceries " she said pausing my movie.
" Hey I'm was watching that " I whined like a kid. I wasn't anyway. The movie sucked for a high school movie the actors seemed a decade older than the age they claimed in the movie.
They showed highschool was a great place, you fall in love, make friends, play around, have fun, Clearly whoever wrote that script for the movie didn't attend highschool shit sucked take it from me.
" Go buy groceries quickly then come back and continue with your movie " she said sternly.
" Whatever " I said and stood up.
" Oh and go to the pharmacy and buy these, you'll need them " she passed me a paper.
The handwriting was farmiliar and so we're the names, I hated them.
" I don't need these mom " I passed her the paper.
And then she gave me a look.
I put it in my pocket.
I entered inside the supermarket, I had always wanted to go to that supermarket, it's the first thing I admired in this town. I had taken a photo of the list. Intentionally, I wanted mom to notice my cracked disaster phone, she had, I noticed how she flinched and that was all I needed.
" Flour " I read on my broken phone as the first item I looked around and spotted the area for bakery. I walked there still looking on my phone trying to calculate whether mom miscalculated. The remaining amount would go to my pocket if she had.
I led my hand to the packet of floor infront me.
I felt touching something soft and turned my eyes to see what it was. It was a hand, it was smooth, soft and small and definitely belonged to a girl(I figured). I traced with my eyes to see whose it was.
I almost had a heart attack.
Tess ! she wore a red dress with short sleeves and red flip flaps. Our eyes met and we first looked at each other. I looked away embarrassed.
" Hey " she said after that short gaze which seemed to be long to me .
" Hey " I said removing my hand from hers. I freaked and dropped my phone.
That thing suffered.
" Sorry " she said and I went down to pick it up but she had also dives for it. Our heads knocked.
" Sorry " I said and picked up the phone.
" It's okay. sorry " she said and touched her fore head. I'm sure it hurt her more than me I ha e a hard head. Kids at my primary school once told me.
Awkward silence.
" What are you doing here ? " she asked
" I. . . I came to buy some groceries " I said and looked everywhere except at her.
" Okay ." she said.
" What. . . what about you ? " I asked her to just create conversation.
" Oh I'm here. . . to buy. . . flour " she hesitatingly said hand picked up the flour abruptly.
I didn't buy that, I looked at flour and at her then looked away.
" Ok, okay you got me. . . I'm hiding from someone " she finally admitted.
" In a supermarket ? " I asked her.
" Best place I could think of " she said.
I couldn't help but wonder why she told me all this.
I didn't have any words to say to her. I thought hard and the only that came to me were concerning an assignment they'd given us last week that was definitely inappropriate.
" Will you be shopping for long ? " she suddenly asked me .
" Yeah. . . I mean I have all these on my list " I said and hesitated to show her scrap phone.
" Can I help " she said and I drew a blank.
" with the shopping " she said and picked up a shopping basket-thingy.
" I just want him to get tired and leave, shopping with you will keep me busy " she added.
So it was a guy.
I just nodded.
I handed her my broken phone.
" Sorry about your phone " she said.
" It's fine it was already broken "
" The next item is. . . uhm. . . cooking oil " she said.
