The mood came like a breeze and just like that it was gone. They were all silent for a moment, the engine was up and running again before they roared along with it in laughter. Vatracco was surprised by their reaction but did not dare let them see through it.
Immaculate was not sure why they were laughing or why her brother had decided to say that sir name out loud. Her mind was confused but her face had a way of not keeping up with her changing emotions.
"Yeah right, and am Prince Clest." One of them said making everyone erupt further.
Making themselves comfortable, they sunk into their seats, Immaculate went back to sleep while Vatracco continued looking outside. He wondered why they laughed. If they were laughing because no one had heard that name before? Or did they do it to mock them because someone else already had that name? He pondered on these possibilities.
The mood livened and they went back to talking to each other. One thing was clear though, everyone but them knew who Dragonar were. All they had to do was wait to confirm for themselves who that name belonged to.
They had been raised in the human world but they themselves were different from the rest. Occasionally, Vatracco had asked why they were different when he was little but his mother would always tell him a story to keep his mind of it.
When he was old enough to understand, his mother had let something slip when she talked to him. She did not seem to realize but he could tell that there was a longing behind her dead eyes and flat expression. She was missing a place she talked about, she mentioned her parents and her husbands parents as well while wondering if they were doing okay.
It had never been her intention to reveal this little detail and he had never known why but from how she talked about them that fateful day, he could tell they were not on good terms. His little mind concluded that his parents were running away from something but he never dwelt on it too much to find out what exactly they ran away from. All he was sure of is that it had something to do with their families.
On a different occasion, Immaculata had overheard her father talking as well. She had come home early from school that day and was just about to pass her father's study when she heard something peculiar. Father was talking in a tongue that they had to learn without knowing why and he never took no for an answer.
"Drain's on the move," she heard her mother say.
"Don't worry, he will never find us in the human world. My devil for a brother has always had eyes set on that for a very long time and since he could not get it, he decided to go down that path. However, if he does cross the line, I will still protect my family." Her father replied.
Immaculata had always been a sharp little girl. The conversation drifted and they talked about things she could not understand. When her brother got home later, she relayed what happened and both of the connected the particular dots. Their parents ran away from home and were staying here. Them mentioning the human world meant that, they were not human? Their families were a touchy topic and some them could not be trusted, especially this Drain guy.
Moreover, that must have been the reason why their parents never had any relatives coming to visit over the holiday. Or any family coming to say hi. On discovering this little information, they were satisfied with whatever excuses their parents gave them. But what did not make sense right now was that they were being sent back. Why now off all times and what the hell was that thing clad in black?
Their parents hid a lit of things from them but they also did not deny them what they needed or wanted. Both of them had been brought up in a warm home. They had been loved and showered with more than just gifts. Their parents did not hide the fact that they were not one hundred percent human and when they started manifesting, they taught them control, language and culture.
Both of them did not ask how they knew of this because their parents would reveal their true appearance when they were at home. The neighbors had thought them to be creepy but they warmed up to them, however, that did not last very long. Their parents never went to work but they always had a sufficient flow of money. Many started doubting how this could be and many rumors arose because of this.
Kids at school teased them and they sometimes got bullied. They never had friends who would play with them and parents would chase them from the playground when they came alone.
However, this never got to them because the time they spend together as a family made their bonds grow stronger and more firm. Soon, everyone stopped bullying them and talking trash too because not once did they shed tears or rebuke them but instead, they would always help when they needed it. Or just walk away, which was no fun.
The teachers had no problem with them because both of them were smart. They did their homework and never once did they get into detention. The siblings were a perfect example of a good student and because of this, life at school was a little easier. Life at home was a bliss and everything else was manageable.
Vatracco decided to no longer think about anything as he was now having a headache. He instead focused his attention on the view outside. He had not noticed before but the view outside was breathtaking.
It might have been different from what he saw normally but he found it normal. His eyes found it much more pleasing to look at than what he had previously seen.
The trees outside no longer had green leaves but they had pink, golden or black leaves. The trunks were no different from the ones on the streets but these colors made him calm. The grass below was green but it would occasionally have a white patch from time to time.
From the road he could see houses from a far. They had a different design and aura to them. Plus they looked ancient but if he had to use one word, he could simply say they were breathtakingly beautiful.
After a while he too fell asleep. The other teenagers ignored them as they clearly seemed not to know who that name belonged to. Without their knowledge, they stood out and not in a very good way. Some despised them for using that name while others took them for fools. Some had plans waiting for them as they arrived while one took interest in the two. Out of all of them, he was the only one who did not laugh.
He had taken an interest in the two. No one had noticed it but the 'people' who brought them through the wall, looked nothing like the owner's of that name. they weren't people to begin with. No one but he noticed because he got in a few seconds after they had boarded. No one talked to them either and they kept to themselves but if what these two had said was true then…
