It did not take long before they arrived. The bus came to a halt and they a lighted one by one. The two were not in a hurry so Vatracco decided to wait until everyone had alighted before waking his sister.
Immaculata alighted first and as soon as she did, she looked up at the sky. Vatracco come and stood beside her, he wondered what had caught her attention and looked up as well.
As soon as he did, his heartbeat echoed through his whole body. His body felt hot and dizzy. He was about to stumble but he did not. Blinking a couple of times, he looked up at the sky once more. Immaculata had felt the same way. They both wondered why this was happening but as they stared at the sky, it all became clear.
Two moons stood magnificently side by side. One was blood red while the other was white. The smaller moon's light never touched the ground nor did its shine pass the larger moon. It was as if its existence was just for show like it was there yet it wasn't. Picking up their bags, they walked toward a gigantic building. Those who had come with them with them were not so far ahead. They were already in groups, apart from a few who stood to the side.
Immaculata could tell that they were just stalling, waiting for something fun to happen. She sighed and looked up ahead. There was a huge gate before them. No other teenagers were behind them. Their bus must have been the last to arrive. No guard stood by the gates and she could tell that something like a barrier occupied the space between the two pillars. Vatracco seemed to have taken notice of it too but he kept walking.
They both approached it and walked through. Disappointed faces appeared on the teens that had been with them. Some hoped that they could finally get to see what happens to those who walk into the gate when they should not. Suddenly, a rumble was heard before a loud squeak that hurt to hear. The ground shook and the pillars came tumbling down. Moreover, on contact with the ground, they turned to dust.
The gates were no more.
Everyone was astonished but the two walked on like nothing had happened. They knew nothing of the significance of the gates neither did they know what this meant. To them, they thought this might have been normal. Or a trick to prevent them from going further. Vatracco took two steps before he stopped. Immaculata stopped as well, imitating her brother. They both stared forward intensely. Nothing happened, the rest were too scared to move and stayed back.
"Show yourself." They both threatened.
Silence.
They drew their guard and did not move any further. Those they had left behind thought they had finally lost it. None noticed, but a countable few who drew their guard as well when the two did. If they hadn't, they too would not have sensed it.
An after image of some sort appeared before them and out of it came a person. It looked like he had just torn himself from space, this air... He was definitely older than them but not by a larger margin. He looked at the two before opening his mouth to say something.
"You too." Vatracco said while looking beside the man who had just appeared, not allowing him to speak.
His eyeballs grew slightly. He looked amazed like this was a first. His gaze a little menacing and unsettling. Because, indeed, it was a first. No one, not even the teachers in the school were able to tell her position when she activated her invisible cloak yet these two could. He wondered who they were but a more pressing issue was at hand.
"Who was it?" a young lady emerged while asking.
It was noticed that the two wore matching clothes which meant that they too were students here. And for them to be out here must have meant they were highly ranked. The rest looked at each other wondering what they meant. The couple began looking impatient but two hands went up before the boy could explode.
All this was taken in by Vatracco.
The siblings had raised their hands. Misunderstandings arose.
He looked even more shocked before his expression turned to one of anger. Stomping toward them, his face spelled trouble. In fury, he asked if they had any idea what they had just done. The siblings looked confused for a moment. They were clueless as to what he was talking of. The lady sighed and walked up to them. She had been using a spell to tell whether they were evil or not. And what she had picked out so far was confusion.
"What happened?" she asked.
Vatracco explained and when he was done, they both looked at each other before looking at them.
"What were your names again?" the boy asked.
Silence.
The lady got why they did not talk. It was presumed rude to ask for someone's name before giving them yours. She introduced herself. Her name was Maddy Light and the boy's name was Retro Light. They were not siblings and the reason why they shared the same family name was because she was a witch and wizard belonging to the Light Carven.
"Vatracco Dragonar."
"Immaculata Dragonar."
Anger could be felt from Maddy. She was willing to let them slide for being clueless but they seemed to be taking it too far. They both sighed and turned around. Looking at where the gates stood, they began analyzing something. Immaculata snapped her fingers while Vatracco stretched his hand out.
The gate reappeared and stood as it once had. It even looked brand new. After this, they continued advancing and left everyone gawking at what they had just done.
"W-wait!" Maddy called out. "What did you just do?"
"Restoration. The barrier was weak before but now it can handle almost everything. The pillars looked worn out too so she used a time spell together with 'restoration' to make them new again?" Vatracco explained.
No one moved or dared breathe. These two had just used high level magic like it was nothing and they did not need an enchantment to complete it, or a circle. Few of the teachers at the school could do this spell but they ended up taking a day or two off to rest due to the burden of using it. Yet, they were still standing. She wanted to approach them and touch their foreheads but something warned her not to.
"Where are you from?" Retro asked, his voice a little shaky.
"The human realm, we just missed Halloween." Immaculata sulked. But, to them, she looked cold and uninterested.
Vatracco saw her pouting and patted her head out of habit. Laughter escaped from his lips but when she looked up he pretended not to have been the one. Sighing, she looked at them wondering if it was okay for them to head to the huge building that seemed miles away from them.
"Fo…" Retro squeaked before clearing his voice "Follow us."
