Chapter 21 - I Quit!

Yue was led to a large courtroom and up to a podium that was surrounded by stands that encircled the entire courtroom. In front of Yue was a tall bench podium where three old men with funny wigs on their heads sat looking down at her. This was to be her judge, jury, and executioner.

The one in the middle gave Yue a penetrating gaze as he looked at Yue, who was all smiles as she looked back at him. It was as if this whole trial had nothing to do with her. After a few minutes of the two staring at each other and neither giving way, the old man slammed his gavel down in front of him and began the court session. "The trial of Yue Noret for the murder of Ryan Clarkson, Dean of Arches Magic Academy. Defendant Yue Noret, what do you have to say for yourself?"

Yue tilted her head to the side and looked at the old man, and asked: "What do I have to say? I mean, I killed a man who committed the murder of three young girls who ended up captured by goblins and turned into breeders due to his decision to step in and asked the king not to wipe out the goblin nest. This resulted in three girls who still had their lives ahead of them to be tormented in ways you would never think imaginable. Let me ask you, judge, have you ever been forcefully r*ped by a little green man who relentlessly pounded your old ass, then impregnated and forced to give birth to more little green men who would come back and do you all over again. An endless cycle where you can never escape except for death? Tell me, have you?"

Gasps filled the stands at Yue's words. But Yue did not care. She wanted to know why she was in the wrong. Why was it wrong to kill the man who started it all? Why can a man who acts on his own ideals and spews lies get to roam free while those poor girls were forced to die a tragic death and die young because of one person's decision? Just because he was a noble? Just because he has sway with other nobles? Is this the reason why? She could not understand how such a thing was even allowed.

Yue's question caused the old man's face to turn bright red in anger. Veins began to pop out of his forehead. He slammed the gavel on the podium and pointed at Yue in anger. "You! How dare you speak to me like that! You're nothing but a trouble making murderer. I hear by charging you with the crime of killing a noble of higher status than yourself. Punishment is de..."

"Wait!" Princess Venessa stood up and looked at the old man who was about to sentence Yue to death with an icy cold glare. "As a judge, no matter how much you are instigated by the defendant, you are not allowed to use personal feelings in judgment. Are you now, senior judge? I will say this now, Yue's words are actually hold meaning to them. And you should answer her question. Why is a noble allowed to do such things and get away with it, but when someone avenges the ones killed due to his deeds and kills the noble, it becomes a case of murder?

"Let me ask you, judge, since you can not sentence me to death with your anger. If that was your own daughter who was kidnapped, r*ped and impregnated by goblins, and it was all Dean Clarkson's fault, would you even think twice about killing him?" Princess Venessa's voice was loud and clear. The whole courtroom fell into a quiet chatter. When said by a royal all would listen, this kind of situation was… Yue hated it.

The judge's face was turning purple, but he dared not yell at the princess. He valued his own life, after all. As everyone was discussing what Princess Venessa was saying, another voice was heard from the stands. "Princess Venessa, excuse my transgression, but I think your words are wrong. As nobles, we are entitled to special privileges that make us superior to an average commoner. So what if a few commoners die? So what if the Dean requested the goblins not to be killed off? Did he not do it for the Arches Magic Academy in order to train us, students? A sacrifice for the betterment of our kingdom is sometimes needed."

Everyone turned their heads to see Van Coledall standing up. His words made a lot of sense, much more sense than what Princess Venessa said. Why should a noble care about a few commoners if it will benefit the kingdom? As the crowd was ninety percent nobles, Van's words sounded more logical because they were for noble rights to do as they pleased because they were nobles.

Princess Vanessa ground her teeth as she stared at Van coldly. "Van, are you saying that a noble who pisses himself in the face of a single spark lion should be able to do as he pleases? If that is the case, wouldn't our kingdom be gone in four years' time when you hit the battlefield and happily piss yourself and hand over the land to the enemy in front of you?"

"Princess Venessa, I do not know what you are talking about, but your words are a little vicious, are they not? I mean, what proof do you have that I did such a thing? At that time, I fought alongside everyone the same as you." Van tried to act as if he was being defamed.

Yue, who seemed to have been forgotten in this trial, let out a loud sigh catching everyone's attention. She flicked her wrist, and the metal cuffs that bound her hands together fell off as if they were never locked in the first place. "Princess, I am sick of it all, so I quit. I quit this farce. I quit this stupid fixed trial. I quit this kingdom. Old man with the stick up his ass. From this day forward, I, Yue Noret, am no longer a citizen of your fair kingdom. As such I will be taking my leave."
