Yue did not get down from her perch. She was already in a very good vantage point. She could see the whole camp as well as the area around it fairly well. Thanks to her wolfkin race being genetically superior to humans, she had better hearing, sense of smell, and eyesight than them. There were other aspects as well to her race that made them better than humans, such as strength and speed. Humans can make up for this disadvantage by casting enhancement spells on themselves, but this would normally only match a wolfkin's natural traits. If a wolfkin were to enhance their traits through spells they would still be far superior.
As the hours passed and the darkness of the night really settled in when the predators of the night were most active, Yue felt a faint scent approaching the camp. "Hmm? Spark Lions? Are they in this forest?"
Yue knitted her brow as she frowned. Spark Lions, as they were called, were Lions with lightning attributes that could dish out a static charge of electricity that would stun their targets so they could swiftly drag their prey away. The issue with these lions was that they were known for pack tactics. They would distract with one or two of them while the others snuck up behind their prey, shocked them, and then dragged them away. They always hunted in pairs or threes.
Yue already knew the position they were going to be coming from, so she hopped down from her tree branch and walked over to Venessa since she had the most influence in the class due to her status as a princess.
Seeing Yue walking over to her, Venessa subconsciously grabbed her behind, but when she realized what she was doing, she stomped her feet in anger as she glared at Yue and asked: "What do you want?"
"Not your butt, that's for sure, so stop grabbing it. It makes you look like a pervert." Yue said with a mocking smile before her expression turned serious, not giving Venessa any time to retort. Yue spoke in a low voice: "I need you to gather everyone to the center near the fire. Do not let anyone panic, or we could end up losing someone."
Venessa's eyes opened wide as she leaned closer to Yue as she asked: "Something is coming?" Although Venessa did not like Yue one bit since she was a failure at magic and made the academy look bad, but she had to recognize Yue's ability in everything else. And one thing she knew after being in the same class as Yue over the past three months was that Yue never lies.
"Yes, Spark Lions. At least that should be the scent I picked up. In order to be safe, it is best to gather everyone near the fire so that we can keep an eye on all directions. We will let Miss Clara sleep until we know for sure what it is. She has been dealing with a lot the past few days." Yue replied. She had seen the dark circles under Miss Clara's eyes, so she knew that her teacher had been having a rough few days.
"Okay, I will do as you say. Keep that nose of yours on the one you smelled. We will take care of seeking out the others as we gather." Venessa made sure to stick in a jab at Yue's abilities just to make herself feel better.
Yue paid no mind as she said one last thing that made Venessa shiver. "If someone wines and does not wish to get up, leave them be. They will learn the hard way."
Venessa nodded her head. Although it was cruel, Venessa also knew this was the best way to go about it. It was better to leave the ignorant who did not wish to follow commands to their own devices. Whether they lived or died was up to them thereafter.
Venessa was quiet as she began making her rounds to the thirty students that were in the class and quietly telling each one to move to the center of the camp. Because it was Venessa, they were very calm about it and listened to her orders right away.
Yue watched Venessa carrying out her orders and smiled. She may be a bitch, but she at least knew when to work with her enemy. As Yue had this thought in mind, she froze as her nose picked something up. "No way!? This many!?" Yue turned and saw a girl trying to get her weapon out of her tent before moving to the center of the camp. Her eyes did not fall on the girl directly but at the four pairs of eyes in the bushes near the tent. "Abigail, forget your weapon and move to me now!"
"Huh!? Why should I listen to you? I need my weapo… Ahhhgh ghu!" It was too late. If she just did as she was told, she may have been able to dodge the initial attack, but in the end, she was hit with the static charge of the Spark Lion. The lion wasted no time jumping out and grabbing Abigail by her leg and dragging her into the woods.
"Everyone to the center now! The Spark Lions are in a massive pack!" Yue yelled out. She could no longer wait for Venessa to gather everyone. It was strange for a Spark Lion to be in such a big pack since they were very territorial, but it was not unheard of. If there were large amounts of prey to be found, different packs would align with one another for a single hunt to get in on the action. She could only watch as Abigail was dragged away, unable to even scream because of the paralysis effect of the static charge. "Venessa, get everyone to the center now!"
"On it! Everyone Listen to Yue. Do not try to grab your weapons. Just move to the center now!" Vanessa did not hesitate to start yelling out Yue's orders. In a way, she wished the rest of the class would also listen to Yue in time of need like this.
In the woods not far away, a Spark Lion was lying on the ground passed out, and the girl who was in its jaws was lifted up by a familiar figure. "Now then, maybe next time you will listen to someone who is trying to protect your life. Let this be a lesson to you. As of now, you have failed the practical."
