She, once understood, immediately threw it away.
One of her hands through which she had touched that limb remained idle while her other hand, which was earlier entrusted with the responsibility to cover her nose, now even covered her mouth also as she got on the brink of vomiting because of her latest experience.
She controlled her throat from not vomiting to the best of her ability to refrain it.
She couldn't think of anything besides what she witnessed. A memory flashed in front of her of the red flesh from the limb which she had observed upon taking a closer look.
Neither she was practicing the ability to discern that there could be wild animals too if she had found a ripped off limb there.
Only other thought that came to her mind is to run as far away as possible.
Neither towards the motor car nor to the door entered by her father and mother nor in the direction from which they entered into this open land. All she cared was to just get away from it.
She, in her quest, began to run even further towards her right where she was highly vulnerable of a risk.
Only after she had run a few steps that something big came in between her feet way which led to her fall.
She had fallen just after this peculiar thing obstructed her path.
Martha, while lying on the ground, remembered the fact, that she might have probably run in any else direction other than the one she was intended to which was a truth and not mere probability now. She quickly rose and looked around to see the direction she had run into.
She realized she had run into the wrong side and quickly braced herself for another sprint towards the motor car. But, as curious as Martha can be, she still wanted to see what the reason that led to her fall.
It didn't take her much time to find out where this peculiar thing was lying after kicking a few times in the air until she kicked something solid.
She had a slight apprehension of what it could be yet wanted to confirm her thoughts.
Slowly, she bent to check and much to her horror, it was indeed what she thought it to be.
It was the rest of the body of the animal the limb of which was in Martha's hands less than a minute ago! It was drenched with blood and gave the impression that it was ripped off in every manner repeatedly till the time it was completely dead or till its predator was not hungry anymore.
She, in an instant, noticed that the organs were lying outside and expectedly, were available in pieces.
She couldn't take the view any longer though it would have only been a couple of seconds and thus, she began to move rapidly towards the car.
This time, she was acting consciously and predicting several outcomes of this scenario.
Only she was a few steps away from the motor car and busy with her mind activity that she was distracted, rather alarmed, by a loud howl right from the direction her back was facing, or to put it otherwise, the direction she was earlier running towards.
The loud howl penetrated through her thought and caused a shiver down her spine.
For Martha, death was standing right behind her and the only possible way to live was to sprint forward, as far away from death as possible.
Her curiosity instinct to find out the source of that howl was nowhere to be seen.
In fact, all of her instincts were switched off but the survival mode was triggered to the infinity.
In a fragment of second, she was seen sprinting forward.
She no longer felt the motor car to be a safe refuge for her but she wanted to end up in the embrace of her mother's arm which she believed could rescue her from anything in this world.
Hence, she leapt on to the ground with big steps and rushed to the door through which both her mother and father had entered from.
She finally reached out to the door but for some reason, she senses she was out of the danger.
This was due to reasons which are twofold – one is because throughout her sprint towards the door, she didn't hear even the slightest of sound of footsteps reaching for her and second, is because she, when passing by the pillar nearby the door, finally looked behind to find there's no one following her.
She felt she was safe.
Therefore, Martha first began with regaining breath as she was at a loss of oxygen after this race towards the door.
Second, she again checked the open space in front of the house from both sides if there was some animal which was approaching her.
There were none. She felt relieved but only for a short while.
Once her heavy breathing stopped, she could again take note of the silence around her.
However, this time, there were noises stirred in the atmosphere that ceased the silence.
Martha tried to concentrate.
It was a faint sound but recognizable. "Those distant voices, I have heard them in this very manner before.
Those faint voices immediately took her back to the time she had woken up today.
She had heard those voices in the same manner the time she had woken up today morning.
It was her daddy and mommy, screaming.
She reached for the door her parents had used to enter into the house but didn't knock.
She rather kept her ear close to the door in a manner to eavesdrop what the matter inside is.
This time, the voices weren't too fainted to be inaudible like the last time in the morning.
Martha was able to hear exactly that her parents said.
She heard her daddy saying, "I will not accept this. We are not naïve enough to obey anything absurd that comes out of your mouth!" Her father was stern in his voice.
