Chereads / Never Cross The Shield / Chapter 18 - Trick

Chapter 18 - Trick

"Alright, let's dispense with the terms of your formalities! I am already fed up." He meant being hung to the Nonorite's naked body, paused to see their reaction but they were poker faces and their eyes not readable.

So he continued. "I am telling you that I don't know that Vampire juggler but I saw his different skills that neither of us have them!"

The eyes now looked more curious. This part of the fact caught their perception but wasn't a pleasant thing.

"He had a given power like the ones that Immortality court had given us, the shadow squad! I have the diamond but he had a joker card that could absorb my diamond's power." He described him but instead, the Commander narrowed his eyebrows.

"How did you know about him being there?" Six asked suspiciously as if he couldn't believe that Bo wasn't the juggler's party.

"I was following the map to cross the Feral sect but I saw the wraith-shaped being that jumped from a building to another one! Then the second one exploded."

"Why didn't you wait there? Curiosity can kill the cat and you know that; tell me, am I wrong?" One walked one step ahead after mocking him.

"I used the scanner that Ai handed me for the essential situation and it discovered a huge mass of magic. I couldn't stop myself from interfering and as I walked inside I heard Delun asking for help."

She thought that he was tricking them. To Bo, this hunter was way shadier.

"What did he want from your friend?" This time the Bena asked.

It was awkward that seemed she could also read minds or was able to find the missing part. She was after more reasons to convince herself. The girl doubted that Lashuka's clique was after something but what?

Making it tough for Bo to explain, she made sure that was something about the boy.

Bo was looking for words to bring out with an order. He preferred to share this matter with Karmalin before anyone else but destiny aimed to toy them for some fun. The Lashuka wanted him and the question was, why him?

The boy started to explain what had happened and all he witnessed but censored the part that was related to him.

"What about this one?" The commander was glancing at the Queen card in his hand.

Bo pouted at that! The commander was trying to say that they were hands in glove with the Sparrow king and his jugglers. The vague crooked smirk on his face brought wrinkles on the corner of his lips.

The hunters had their own ways and it was painful that he could notice what they had been keeping on the back of their mind. They had set some plots against him, rolling his eyes on Delun; he made his decision about the situation.

They might torture him to bring out words from his mouth. Therefore, they already flew out of the frying pan and the fire was burning them.

Before Bo opened his mouth, Delun coughed.

Delun loathed that they forced his friend to speak by mistreating him because they knew Bo's shortcoming was those he loved. He couldn't endure people who bullied Delun. Blood was running out of his mouth and the taste was disgusting.

"What had you done to him, you piece of trash?" Bo wailed at Six who was as cold as a cucumber. His friend wasn't in a good state that he could neglect.

"You balking out of the main point to waste time and let your bloke run away. Where did you get this card?" The commander teased. He didn't mean to accuse the boy but he was hiding something.

"A werewolf juggler gifted me. Damn you, stop hurting him!" Bo begged.

"What else? Where is he now?" He glared at the boy in a threatening way.

"He saved my life ten years ago and went to Hekhamen. He had a sealed certification from the king that allowed him to pass through the boundary. I didn't see him anymore." He didn't need to explain more because this part was none of his business and he was too young to survey over such matters.

Anyway, Bo was supposed to answer the questions not pointing to every detail that he experienced.

"Where did you meet him?" The Bena asked.

"Near the shield when I was eight."

The commander unclenched his fist and again Delun was released from the inward pain.

"It is getting interesting now. So you saw the werewolf juggler, that proud crafty! I couldn't ever trust him to be the peace ambassador." One said with a hint of grin that was coming out of her silent and well-concealed rage.

"Do you know who they are? Aren't you?" The Bena was sure that he knew but could not comprehend why the juggler handed a dangerous card to the boy or there he found something mysterious about him. The golden jugglers have been saving many people in the borders but rarely they would miss a card or even gift one of them.

"I know that they are the Sparrow king's men and our countries don't like each other for some dumb reasons." Bo couldn't find better words to blurter. To him the argument between them was stupid and it was all because of two greedy kings that even didn't bother to show their faces to people.

If it wasn't fear so what was it?

"Then you know all of that yet kept the card!" She added and smiled. The boy was so daring compared to the rest of the Aligners that she met before and certainly, he succeeded to open the card.

"Yes, I do."

"This card works only for you! I had tried multiple times to summon the hidden secrets but it refused and pushed me back. What is in this protected card?" The commander said, raised his hand in a menacing mood that if he didn't say the truth then Delun would be in pain.

Bo was dragged into a gap that he couldn't crawl up as if a cat that got stuck between glossy straight walls and some brutal dogs were barking, preparing to tear him apart. He didn't want to see the past and what had happened and the card saved all those pestering moments. Why would he let the past repeating across his sight again and again?
