According to Augustus, there were four classes of vampires in the vampire society. The lowest on the ladder were those humans turned vampires. They were the ones I knew about: mindless, ferocious, and bloodthirsty monsters. Above them were half-human and half-vampires. They were called Half Breeds.
Half Breeds could stand the sunlight and live as normal humans. Their strength surpassed an average human and could control their thirst. They might sound invincible, but in the vampire society, they were nothing but fodders. Moreover, Half Breeds could still age and die, albeit had longer lifespans.
To put it simply, Half Breeds were stronger because of their vampire blood, but still aged like a normal human.
