Chapter 23 - Acquaintanted

Regret and terror rushed to her cheeks as soon as she made eye contact with Maximillian. He looked at her with his right brow arched up, easily irritated at the wasted seconds the servant took with her hesitation. 

"Yes, sir."

Thana began to move quickly toward the other side of the table where Claudius and Beatrice were fussing about clumsiness. Although her response was intentionally soft, it reached Maximillian and he could not help but feel a sense of familiarity with the voice he had just heard. 

He watched the servant pacing toward Princess Beatrice. He examined her every feature to find anything that would spark a memory of him crossing paths with her before. But there was nothing about her that proved him to know her voice from somewhere.
