"Thomas, before I tell about the questions in your mind I should start with a story told by my ancestors. Eons ago when the Divine still roamed the cosmos and your human race was in its initial stages, there happened to be a huge war which nearly wiped out all mortal life in the universe.
In this case, Divine is a way to refer to any living being that has Transcended mortality like the Gods, Immortals and Devas. When seeing the disaster they brought to themselves and all other creatures, the celestial beings which survived the war gathered together divided the universe into nine realms.
The largest ones are the Material World otherwise known as Mortal Realms and the Immaterial World known as the Spiritual Realm. The mortal realm is composed of a countless galaxies, stars, planets and works with its own laws. The Immaterial World is the extreme opposite while still being perfect copy of the material world, existing in the same space but in a alternate dimension.
In simple words, the one where are currently and also humans thinks is all the universe amounts to. The other is a place where all souls go while their material body decays and what your people use many names to describe it, heaven, hell, purgatory and so many others, It's all the same actually.
"I see..." Thomas didn't expect to be given a lecture about the the true size of the universe, yet he couldn't erase the feeling there was something wrong in those words.
Seeing the look in Thomas eyes of confusion and suspicion brought a smile to the former Demon Lord's youthful face. "Hehe, I see you must have realized it. When the celestials vanished all those years ago most of the information was gone with them so it made impossible for my people to know the truth about those beings and some things were exaggerated. But the reason I told all of that is because those demons you see attacking your world are all descendants of the Ancient True Demons. Beings that once existed in that same period of time and possessed powers near the level of a god."
"The seven Ancient Demons which ruled over the demon realm are gone, but they left over ten thousand demon clans living in the mortal worlds. Most of the clans moved to the Seven Demons Sector in the outer region of the this galaxy. Monstrous beings originating from outside the demon realm poured into our world, in a short couple decades my people were pushed to the brink of death. So in a way the humans weren't the only ones suffering from the dimensional rifts."
Thomas stood up and interrupted. "Wait, are you saying the demons are also victims? It doesn't make any sense! Then why are your people attacking us?!"
If what he was told is true than not only the demons but the other species that has been spotted are all victims? It's something hard to believe, but then who could be the cause behind the appearance of the dimensional rifts.
After continuing the talk, there was nothing much Kez'ganak could teach about the rifts that he hasn't already told.
Suddenly the demon lord's gold eyes stared at the ceiling and murmured. "Our time here is nearing its end. But before that there is a last thing which I must say. There is a lot the system doesn't let me tell you, so all I can give is an advice. As long you possess the system, the powers of all the deities living in it will be there for you to inherit but that is too far away. The physique you possess is something special which any demon would kill for, it is still below a transcendent power but getting this physique to its highest power will serve as a good foundation before inheriting any godly powers."
Pooof!
Thomas heard a noise in his head before a notification appeared in the air.
[Demon Lord Kez'ganak has given you a quest]
[Quest Name: I Got The Power]
Requirements, raise your physique to level 9 within 3 years and master the Sun-Moon Demonic Power. Failure Requirements: Fail to reach level 9 in three years. Fail to master all demonic powers.
Rewards: Unknown
Thomas immediately opened his eyes and found himself back in his room. It seems the Hall of Gods couldn't be used anymore for quite some time and Thomas was still digesting about the things he discovered.
Maybe next time he would have Kez'Ganak teach him how to use his demonic power as it was something he had completely forgotten.
"Ahhhhhhh!"
Without leaving the bed, Thomas heard a painful scream in the distance. Immediately his senses tracked down the source of the scream, but it was too far away.
The source of the scream was coming from a pale white building just a few blocks away, yet he could hear it just so clearly. The sounds of the cold blade against soft, tender flesh.
Thomas hesitated for a single second before putting on the battle suit and heading towards the building.
On the way there, Thomas could see none of the people there seemed to have heard or felt the same thing as him.
Only as he got closer did he saw a agglomeration forming around a certain location. Lots of people had formed a huge crowd which blocked his view. But this street was so familiar he would never forget.
It was a scene he had seen not too long ago when he used to walk this way back when he was still a student. Yes, the scream came from a building he couldn't possible know more, as it was a place that existed within his darkest memories, Dexia Institute for Adepts. But now, that building was suddenly replaced by something else.
'This... c-can't be possible, where is everyone?' Thomas just could believe it. Instead of the familiar colossal building he once saw every day was now a huge crater where in its center was a single green vortex.
