It has over ten days since Thomas was called to investigate the murder in the research facility. and he had been working together with Lieutenant Scott. Together, they went to the company that owned that facility, Pearl Tech.
There was nothing new to discover when talking to the company's president, yet it helped Thomas realize this whole incident was a little strange.
At first Thomas had almost no free time as he decided to follow Clarisse's uncle to meet the victims coworkers, but it was impossible to understand the motivation for an Adept to attack such small facility.
Working with Lieutenant Scott was also a good thing he is Clarisse's uncle. As for his duty as an Adept, well things has been going even slower as no rifts were spotted since the Lycanthrope invasion. Thomas simply has nothing to do.
After finishing breakfast, Thomas began to exercise. He didn't have any equipment at home, so he could only do a few basic exercises. Now he is registered in the Association he should be getting the average monthly salary for Adepts at his level. It would be best to buy an entire warehouse, he could then buy all equipment and have a safe place for him to stay so he could hide some of his secrets from others.
He exercised for an hour and did twenty minutes of throwing knife training. Afterwards, Thomas began to review his all the date he got from the police about the murder in the research facility.
In this day and age, making use of one's knowledge was of the utmost importance, and all the knowledge he would need could be accessed with his Adept Status .
If he managed to put all of the knowledge about Adepts to work together with what system had to offer, he would find better ways to improve his own power and help survive through the calamity that would soon arrive.
After experiencing some peaceful days, Thomas was beginning to get bored when he thought of something.
"Wait, I haven't tested the system's [Hall of Gods] yet. I should be able to use it now..." When he thought about it there was still some hesitation in his heart which made sense to him. He was still a little bit scared because of the notification and the superior being that broke his connection in that moment. Only at that moment did he realize that having the system could attract many scary beings to him.
As if it read his thoughts, the yellow chain on his wrist warmed up and shook gently. [Master are you finally going to use it? Sisi was lonely these few days... Before master heads to the Hall of Gods, Sisi should warn master that only the gods you have previously synchronized with are available for a meeting, accepting quests are possible as well.]
"Accepting quests?" Thomas already noticed this before, that unlike most games he couldn't find a way to get more quests like an NPC or something. In fact this has been the main reason why he couldn't experience any major growth like in the first few weeks since there hasn't been any dimensional rifts opening nor monsters to kill.
[Yes, quests must be completed if Master wants to gain acknowledgment from the deities within the system.]
"Then open the hall for me."
As the words just left his mouth, a blue gate opened right below his feet.
"Wait, what is..." Seeing a gate with looked so much similar to the spatial gate Gods could do, Thomas had a bad premonition and just like he expected his body fell into the gate leaving a empty bedroom behind.
"Whooa!" As soon he recovered his senses, Thomas saw himself standing upon the most fancy hall he had seen in his life.
[User has entered the Hall of Gods for the first time. Please choose one of the options.]
[Train] [Advice] [Meeting]...
"I will chose [Meeting]"
[Meeting Selected. Chose the deity you want to meet.]
Available Deities.
Bonher: Synchronization 1% Affinity 2
Kez'ganak: Synchronization 50% Affinity 50
Prometheus: Synchronization 10% Affinity 35]
"Huh? Akron and Ares aren't on the list?" Thomas found it strange than two of the gods he believed should be in the list didn't appear. After a period of pondering he found a possible reason, Thomas only got his affinity with Ares because of a quest and he haven't truly Synchronized with him before.
Only in the demon lord's case that things had gone differently. Thomas may have not experienced any of Kez'ganak's memories, but he was the one he has most affinity and Synchronization with.
As for Akron's case... Well, the memories were interrupted right in the middle of it so he won't be able to get Synchronization like he did with Prometheus.
Right now the thing Thomas was most lacking wasn't power, but information. From his studies he understood knowledge was the key to victory so he had to find a way to understand more about the rifts and so on.
Maybe even Earth wouldn't be in such precarious state if humanity had such knowledge from the very start.
His initial plan was to talk with Akron and maybe get some answers about those visions he had seen that time, maybe they did have some relation to what was happening on earth and now mars. Pity it seems that plan seemed useless now.
'Wait, maybe the Demon lord could give me some information' Among all those beings he met, Ares and Prometheus came from too distant of a past to have anything useful. Bonher didn't even came from the same solar system and despite being a demon and not a god, Kez'ganak should have enough information.
"I want to talk with Kez'ganak."
[Initiating the meeting... You have 60 minutes.]
The surroundings changed once more, and Thomas saw himself on a elegant chair. Right across the table was a familiar figure with his red and purple hair, golden pupils and a devilish air about him.
"I knew you would call me kid." That demonic face had a large smile sampled on it. It should be said these past few months since he first integrated the system were a lot more comfortable than he thought.
A system which integrated almost every known and unknown deity was already something hard to believe. Being a part of it himself made him realize just how much of a monster was the person behind its's creation.
"All of us can see everything you do so I already know what you came here to ask. And yes, I have some of the answers to your questions, will you want to hear?"
