"Yes, I guess its easy to see it, but what in the hell is happening."
"Ahh, please forgive me. We should take those three to safety first. This way, please. Let me guide you there."
"Ah…. Sure. "
Sensing that his his the situation did not seem to be that bad, Thomas decided to quietly follow the soldier as the latter spoke.
"As you must have already seen, the invaders this time are Lycanthropes. To our lucky, the dimensional rift opened in a construction site so no civilians were harmed and we're able to take most to safety. Among the people stuck here, we have found over six Adepts like you sir, they are searching for the Alpha as we speak. "
Thomas then swept his gauze around his vicinity.
'Now that I see it, it makes sense. This district was a whole lot prepared due to the demon raid last year. '
The surrounding atmosphere and emptiness of the central district felt rather suspicious at first.
The streets were totally deserted. The only ones on the street were soldiers or policemen. On the way to the location the Soldier was taking here, Thomas searched a little but couldn't find a trace of his mom. Thank god she wasn't caught up in this situation.
Also, belonging to monsters corpses, destroyed cars, and buildings with cracks running up their walls….
In normal cases, a Dimensional Rift would only near where another rift has been after three to four years. Even in Dexia City there were reports of a rift containing high amounts of invaders only once a year.
When such an event unfolded, non-adept soldiers from the nearby bases were dispatched in order to buy some and facilitate the evacuation of civilians. Sometimes there would be some casualties, but in the state of calamity humanity was facing there was in the other way.
"Thank you."
When they passed by a building where the soldiers were keeping the civilians, a middle-aged woman with a tired face came running and thanked Thomas out of the blue.
"Pardon me?" Thomas didn't understand what she meant by that before he saw the stare the woman was giving one of the three civilians he was fighting with me.
"My son, Sir Adept has saved him right. My little boy, mom is so happy to see you alive! "
Hearing the familiar voice, the young man that was carried by Thomas' anima energy slowly opened his eyes, still feeling a little dizzy.
"Uh… .. Mom?"
Leaving the mother and son together Thomas and the soldier went deeper in the building to find somewhere to leave the other two civilians.
After leaving them on the care of a nurse, Thomas followed the soldier out of the building when...
Beep.
The soldier's expression brightened after he received the radio transmission.
"I've received a word that the Lycans in the vicinity have been dealt with, the 3-star Adept Flame Empress five 1-star adepts are going after the Alpha as we speak."
Following the directions the soldier gave him, he could actually sense the presence of a powerful 'lifeform' nearby and the spatial rift right behind it.
There where the signatures of energy of several Adepts as well. This time the dimensional rift has a tone of red and seemed a lot denser than the rift from where demons poured out that time.
Soon enough, the creature could be seen in the distance. It was over two times the size of other Lycans, it's light gray fur and the deep red peals in its eyes shone with evil light.
In the empty space of the construction site, there was six human figures surrounding it though only one was truly fighting the creature.
"Wow, now it looks like a werewolf..." Thomas remained calm and observed the unfolding situation. Perhaps it was his first time seeing one, since the moment he saw it, Thomas felt a little excited. Most people would react in a similar fashion, wait....
"This thing is really powerful for a 1-star beast."
"I don't understand why it isn't dead!"
"Flame Empress. how long do we need to keep going? It's not even remotely close enough to dying, is it ?!"
"Its doesn't matter, just gain enough time for me to finish it off." A masked person shouted to the other adepts before gaining distance which bathing in flames. From the density of energy around it, this person must be the 3-star Adept Flames Empress the soldier told him about.
Like the previous Lycans, the Alpha also shared the same level of strength, 1-star. Not that such a creature couldn't be judged by normal means.
An Alpha was powerful enough to bring a lot of trouble even to a newly-advanced 1-star Elite Adept due to their astonishing regenerating ability.
BOOM!!
When the Alpha slammed its massive claw onto the claw, the Adept wearing the thickest battle suit no choice but to kneel down and regain some breath.
"Keo-heok!!"
The adept cleaned the traces of blood from his face, but the alpha was already standing right before him, its deep red eyes were like a mirror from where the adept saw his certain death of her.
"N-no !!"
"We are going to lose one os us!!"
"What do you want me to do?! My anima energy is at its lowest !! It's not enough to cast even the lowest rank healing-type Anima Technique."
Suddenly a yellow blur appeared right before the alpha. A eight meter tall yellow hand pressed its body on the giving just enough time for the weakened adept to draw away.
"Huh?" The masked Adept eyes searched through the battlefield and upon seeing Thomas' silhouette from afar it froze in a instant. Behind the mask, this Adept's expression grew gave, even shocked before it soon returned to normal.
"Now!" Eyes returning to the scene where the hand held onto the Alpha who struggled as it tried to space the hand's grip, the Adept leaped towards the Lycanthrope.
[Supreme Tera Technique: Scarlet Inflammation!]
The fog that poured out of the dimensional rift was consumed by the scarlet flames which felt from the tip of its fingers.
Gugugugugugugug!
The concentrations of energy within that single sphere of flames was astonishingly high. The alpha felt the immediate death it faced him and tried to escape the Titan God's Hand but to fail miserably.
"GAGAAA!" Under its painful screams of his, Thomas held the beast thigh as the Adept poured all his energy into the flames.
Pooft!
With it's face still frozen in this ugly scared state, only that parts of the Lycan were not affected by the flames.
The Alpha's half carbonized body dropped onto the ground almost at the same time the dimensional rift started to dissipate. Together with it, all the fog was getting fainter.
"It's done." The masked Adept sighed lowly in relief. The other adepts that were standing farther away all approached to have a closer look when Thomas and the Masked Adept felt a change.
"Don't get closer!" Pulling the other adepts away, the masked Adept turned to the "dead" Alpha.
Its mouth opened suddenly, releasing an incomparably strong blood red glow which left its mouth like an arrow.
The masked Adept did n't seemed concerned at first, only when he noticed the path of the bloody arrow. It wasn't aimed at their own group of fans, but at the sole figure standing on the opposite side of them.
Bang! Before Thomas could even react another burst of scarlet flames disintegrated the Alpha on the spot before the figure moved like the lightning bolt.
Thomas only has the time to feel the pair of soft arms pick him up from the ground before he saw himself standing over ten meters away.
"Good, there were no casualties this time." The masked Adept stood at his left, leaning on a nearby wall. The mask on its face was filled with fractures almost looking like it could break at anytime. As expected, it didn't took more than three seconds for the mask to shatter, reaving the most astounding beauty Thomas had ever seen.
"Wah?!!!"
Thomas, and the other five adepts were all started.
A delicate and beautiful face unlike anything Thomas had ever been there before his eyes. A long dark red hair, crimson pupils and a face devoid of any imperfections.
Thomas blushed just by looking at that face. He didn't expect that after seeing goddess such as aphrodite which were the embodiment of beauty, he would find anyone almost on the same level as a deity.
However no matter how perfect was the female, there was an intense feeling in his heart. He didn't know why but his senses of him transmitted a familiar feeling, as if they had once met before.
'Do I know her?'
