"Why would you do that?" she said
"Do what?" I feigned innocence when i knew exactly what she was talking about
"Don't you try to pretend, Justine already told me what you both are up to"
I went silent, why would she do that, after all of these 'we will keep it a secret' pledge she's been making
"why?" she asked again "you didn't even ask for my conscent, what if I don't like the guy in question?
"Do you not?" I asked filled with guilt, why didn't I even think of her stand in the issue, before I went to take things into my hands
"Hmmm?" Noelle asked obviously trying to ignore my question
"Do you not" I asked again already starting to doubt if she actually likes him, fine, she was drooling over him but what if it's just mere attraction and nothing else. God, I was now starting to feel like a fool.
"Aaah, I don't know" she voiced
"This doesn't require an I don't know, just a yes or no, now answer my question" I pressed hoping she would say yes
"I think so" she said nearly whispering
"Huh, what did you say?" I said even though I heard what she said in the first place
"I said I think so" she said more clearly now "but why can't you introduce us normally like Normal people do, why go through all of these?"
I was now smile dreamily to my self "honestly" I answered "I should have done that but I didn't think about it, but I promise you, me and justine have something better planned, so your job is to sit back and watch the love of your life come to you, Although there's going to be an introduction that will take place soon"
"Stop being so dramatic, love of my life?, it's just a crush"
"Don't mind me I am just the excited" I smiled to my self
"Alright fine, i will talk to you later"
"Yeah" I hung up.
I dropped my phone and re-adjusted on my queen sized bed, now lying on my back I replayed in my head the conversation I just had with Noelle on the phone seconds ago. Now it felt like a weight have been lifted off my chest. Now very sure that Noelle is interested in Jace, I sighed happily.
The following week
"As we all know that the new student, who isn't new anymore is now present with us" the literature in English teacher began, we can now proceed with the delayed practical... (I zoned out): the only problem we have now is that I still don't know jace's stand on the matter, and I can't just go ask him, out of the blue, which is why I have made him my friend, but still I haven't reached the type of level I want with him (where I can be able to ask about his love life without looking like a love struck freak, which I am not, Lord he had better not be taken) "I don't even have his number, or is it too soon to ask for?" I said to myself with frustration, then realized I am in class, not in my bed and quickly shut my mouth before I was caught talking to myself.
"... The project is going to be about two students, that makes a group of 13 each writting a sonnet within two weeks, is that clear?" she asked us all
" Yes" we all replied
"Now, I will call your names, and you will be paired with your partners by the initials if your last names"
"Christopher Adams and Lawrence Ale"
"Sabina Bailey and Joshua Brown"
"Joshua Basset and Faith Daniels"
7 minutes later I heard my name
"Tiffany stone and Jace Urrea"
I froze then started processing how that can be possible, then realized there was not a Student who has a last name that starts with T in the class, so basically Jace and I were bond together.
"With all the names been called, I don't want to hear any one of you has problems with your respective partners, but if there happens to be one, report to me" Mrs Johnson said sternly. She then gazed at her wrist watch, faced the class and said "there is five minutes left before the class ends, so am going to leave now and you can start thinking of what sonnet to write with your various partners, see you next week" she exited the class room
"Ah, I am stuck with that O'Brien for two weeks now" Jasmine sighs
I asked facing her "what's wrong with Riele O'Brien
"She's so weird and nerdy"
"Well you better not kill her" I said and to which she laughs to
"You are so lucky, that cool Jace is your partner"
"Who knows if he has anything upstairs" I said trying not to let her not feel too bad about her project partner "stop combining looks to books"
"Oh, you don't know?"
"Know what?"
"That he is brilliant"
"He is?" I asked genuinely
"Yeah, he's been topping his classes lately except the ones you two have together, you beat him at those" she smiled
."Oh okay" not bothering to ask how she knew
I started packing my stuffs, when I finished packing I called to Jasmine "I wanna go talk to my partner, I will meet you at our next class"
Jasmine replied "So soon, damn I am jealous, when I was thinking of approaching my partner" she air quoted partner "next week"
"Next week?" I asked "when are you gonna find a perfect poem to write if you start next week"
"Well" she shrugged
"Let me quickly meet up with him, talk to you later" I stood up and went to the seat I presume is now his permanent one during literature class now. He was packing his books and was doing it oh so perfectly, he looked so focused even though it was a small task
"I guess you love this window side seat" I said to gain his attention, then added "partner"
His eyes are now on mine and he smiles, dimples flashing, then stated "maybe I do"
"So I am here about our project, when do we start?*
"When you are ready, I am" Jace said
"Good" I said sharply "I am
"So soon?" he questioned
"Well what is worth doing is worth doing well"
"If you say so"
He stands up and I move out of the way
"Home economics lab"
"Home economics lab it is"
We start to walk together, when we got to the door, he gestured with a bow "ladies first"
"Are you a gentleman or are you tryna be one" I said jokingly
"Really, really trying to be"
"Ah I see" I laughed
After exiting the class I decided to ask him if he's made any progress concerning making friends
"Got any new friends" I started
"Two for that matter" he said cheesily
"Oh really" I smiled at his cheesiness "so quick"
"Of course, you don't believe me" he feigned disappointment
"I cross my heart I do"
We enter the lab, to meet miss Adelaide already in the class
"Oh shit, we are late"
"Yes" I nodded
I glanced around and noticed that my seat beside Jasmine was already taken and the only seats left was at the back beside each other. I got there first then waited for him to join me.
Aren't you sitting?" he asked
"Well a certain friend of mine likes window seats, so I am kinda saving it for him" I whispered quickly so as not to disturb miss Adelaide's class
"Thanks" he sits and I do too
I am starting to like our friendship, hopefully I will like his relationship with Noelle too.. I thought to myself then smiled contentedly.
