Weeks after our lovely sleep over, I am currently in the hallway with my friends, getting ready for our first classes of the day and by getting ready I mean talking about what we did during the weekend.
"I can't believe that my mom made me eat a whole bowl of some soup, that had broccoli in it, huh, fucking broccoli" Justine made a face, as to express how disgusted she was by whatever soup her mom made her eat.
"Serves you extra right. YOU. DESERVE. TO. EAT. MORE. THAN. JUST.... Noelle was saying, putting emphasizes on each word,and I was not surprised by her action because she always find ways to get Justine pissed off, and then words were no longer coming from her as she was now looking right ahead of her. Like she was in a daze, her mouth wide open. Confused, Justine and I looked back, hoping to get a view of what Noelle was looking at so intensely, because we were both facing her until her words got curled up in her tongue. And let me add, Noelle was never the girl who shows too much emotions when surprised, I am forever gonna taunt her about that stupid face she made.....
My eyes landing on the ever so handsome guy in my view, I was cut out of my subconscious thought. Almost immediately, I looked away from the guy and then at Noelle to make sure that it was him she was definitely look at. And boom, she was looking at him with to stupid face she was making.
Before I could blink an eye, Justine was already mumbling words about how awesome the guy is and how he looks so great.
Just like how all most of the students in the hallway were gnawing at him. God, he was really good looking with that awesome body that was making the girls in the hallway drool.
And then it dawned on me.
"Noelle" I tapped her lightly on the shoulder , then said softly with a smile on my face " you are completely drooling over that guy" and as if on cue, she immediately composed herself "of course not" why would she replied in a duh tone.
The old Noelle was back.
Oh, I see I bursted out laughing
"well I don't see nothing, you were completely drooling over that guy" Justine chirped in also laughing along with me.
"You guys sure don't know what you are saying" she said obviously not wanting to agree to our accusation. "Am going to class already, care to follow or you wanna stay back and get detention?
That's when I looked around then saw that the whole hallway that was a while ago was now fully deserted. We then followed her quickly but quietly.
I am still a bit surprised about the way Noelle was dumbfounded in the hallway and I couldn't get my mind off it though even it was almost last period. I couldn't quite put a finger on what was bothering about it. Am I even bothered? or is it something else entirely? is it the handsome guy or the fact that Noelle seems to like him?
I didn't know I had zoned out until the literature in English teacher shouted "Earth to Tiffany"
I looked up at her and noticed she was trying to read my current emotion.
"Huh" I asked.
"Are you ill or something"?
She finally stopped trying to read my mind ( I guess she wasn't successful at it)
"Oh, no why"? I asked trying to pretend I wasn't the one who zoned during class
"Nothing" she finally concluded and went back to explaining whatever she was explaining.
There will be a new student who will be joining us as of next week, should have joined us but due to a thing or the other, couldn't. Mrs Johnson paused to guage out reactions, after getting the grunts from some, and the smiles and nods she continued. The reason I am telling you this is because there is going to be a practical and it requires a group of two and as we all know there are only 25 students in this class and with 25 students our aim cannot be achieved. sha paused again, so what I am trying to say in essence is that we need 26 students, which we will have by next week when the said new student joins the class.
"So what's the project? Jasmine peters who was sitting beside me asked.
That caught Mrs Johnson's attention and she replied facing Jasmine
"That will be revealed to you by our next class and with that said see you all next week".
She exits the classroom
I face Jasmine who is also a close friend, though not as close to me and Noelle and Justine.
"What do you think the project will be about?
"Well I don't know" she shrugged while packing her stationeries.
I waited for her to finish packing so we could go to our next class (yeah, we have 5 classes together every week, two together on Mondays, literature-in-English and home economics, calculus on Fridays, English and social studies on Thursdays, so how could she not be my friend) because I didn't even bother to unpack because I knew we were just gonna read some literary text and will not need stationeries, but I guess she didn't know.
"let's go" she said when she was done.
Walking together with Jasmine to the home page lab was becoming great since it seems to be helping me forget about Noelle and the new guy (that was what I was , until)
"Do you know the name of the newbie? Jasmine asked
I frowned, when I thought I was finally getting shit away from my mind.
"No i don't, do you? I continued even though I was trying hard not to scream.
"I also don't"
We finally get to the lab and I was so grateful the conversation was at it's end. We entered the lab and found some empty seats (the lab was not full yet). After seating for two minutes I was so praying that miss Adelaide the home economics teacher should poof into the class so that Jasmine won't keep talking to me about the newbie.
And God was my prayer answered?
Of course and of course not. of course because miss Adelaide entered the lab and of course not the newbie followed behind her.
"Oh, see the new guy? Jasmine pointed at said guy.
"Yeah" I chimed in a surprised tone as if I hadn't seen him in the morning. I willed myself to look at him properly and that was when the solution of my thinking problem presented it self.(I was thinking about Noelle and him because Noelle has never acted so dumbfounded because of a boy except him, and I was so excited to see that side of Noelle, which was brought out because of him) .
And mind you I want to keep seeing that side of Noelle, so all I have to do is SET THEM UP together.
OMG you are a genius, I screamed internally at my self.
