Chapter 44 - The Aftermath!

There was a heaviness present in his right arm and around his chest when Sky came to. Sharp pains were sent throughout his body with every small twitch of his muscles. He squeezed his eyes, not being able to rub them with his hands, before slowly opening them. Sky stared at the ceiling for a few moments, not focusing on anything in particular, allowing his thoughts to organize and for his mind to properly wake up.

The longer he stared at the ceiling the more familiar it became before he realized that he was in Bjorn's house. Suddenly the giant fight, the evacuation, everything came flooding into his head. He jolted up and looked around wildly.

"AAAAAGGGGGHHH!!!!!" He screamed as the sharp pain echoed throughout his body.

THUMP! THUMP! THUMP! Loud footsteps could be heard coming up the stairs. The door suddenly flew open as Kronos ran in, closely followed by Jennifer.

"Sky?! What are you doing?!" He yelled as he grabbed Sky and slowly lowered him back down in the bed.

Sky struggled to relax as the pain made him tense up. Slowly he breathed, with each one relaxing a little bit more until the pain subsided until he finally returned back to staring back up at the ceiling.

"What happened?" Sky asked.

"After you passed out?" Kronos signaled for Jennifer to take a seat on the stool next to the bed while he slouched against the far wall by the door and slid down.

"Well, we went to the evacuation location where we found the dwarves and Jennifer," He pointed at her, "Then, Hephaestus told us that we could come back here and so we did and put you to bed while the rest of the town relaxed and settled into their life again."

"Didn't Hephaestus die?" Sky asked.

"Gods never die Sky, they just reform, in Hephaestus' case the closest source of his spirit was this town and due to everyone here being a blacksmith, his reform was abnormally quicker than usual." Kronos asked.

Sky attempted to nod but only ended up moving his jaw up and down. Silence took over the room as Sky noticed small sniffles coming from the right of him. He slowly turned his head to see Jennifer, tears coming down her face.

"Wha-" Sky panicked, "What's wrong?!"

"What... Do you mean... 'What's wrong'?!" She echoed through her sniffles, "Do you know how long you've been out for, or what state you were brought back in?!"

A heavy silence suddenly entered the room.

"You've been unconscious for almost fifteen days, Sky..." Kronos finally explained, "There were many times when your heart almost stopped beating, even more nights where you would do nothing but scream..."

Sky stared at him in shock. His gaze then fell to his body, completely wrapped in bandages, some areas stained in blood while others covered in a cast. There was a sling tied to his right arm now covered in a cast and heavy bandages wrapped around his torso and pelvis.

"You completely broke your right arm, shoulder down, every bone..." Kronos explained, "You also broke your rib cage, cracked your hip and back and suffered severe flesh wounds… you're lucky that after all that you don't have an injury that's completely unhealable."

Sky stared at the ceiling, absorbing what Kronos had said. "At least I came back in one piece… right?" He smiled looking at Kronos and Jennifer.

Jennifer began to sob harder as Sky could see Kronos' chin quiver for a few seconds before returning to its normal state.

There was a loud bang downstairs and loud voices going back and forth.

"SO IT WAS HER!!!!" The deeper of the two voices yelled.

"Yes it was, now please don't bring this up again!" The second, hushed and panicked voice insisted.

There was more thumping on the stairs before two more figures entered the room, the first was Prometheus, wearing a different outfit than before. He was now dressed in a red shirt with orange flames on it and wore a white tie with white pants and black shoes. His black hair was hidden underneath a white bowler hat that had a red stripe going through it. The second was one that Sky had seen before but didn't completely recognize.

The man had black hair that was pulled back into a bun and a round nose, with a face full of wrinkles and a black eyepatch that had three slits that glowed orange covering his right eye and a left eye that glowed like lava. His beard was braided and held together with a gold piece, and fell down past his pectorals. The man was large and somewhat round but by no means fat. He was wearing a white tank top and heavy brown pants with black boots. Along his arms were tattoos of a hammer and tongs and wrapped around his waist was a large white cloth with stains on it.

The man stood as tall as Kronos and had the same twinkle in his eyes as him. "We haven't officially met yet, call me Bjorn or Hephaestus, whichever you're comfortable with." He said as he took a seat near Kronos.

"HUH?! Bjorn was a god!?!?" Sky yelled, trying to get up but being reminded by the pain of his wounds layed back down.

"Sure am, now boy, let's talk about Demeter… shall we?" He smiled.
